This is a good and reasonably priced Korean restaurant. — Seafood pancake is awesome. I order this is every time. — sotofu is good too.

This is one of my childhood favorite restaurants. They are so generous with the side dishes and the food arrives hot and quickly. Huge thank you to the nicest waiter Haejoon with the cool glasses(:

Ive been here a few times, had lunch there yesterday. The food is good but with a few adjustments, it would be awesome. Got the beef bibimbap for me and a beef dolsot(hot stone) bibimbap for the Mr. It was lunch so it took a little while to get our food since it was busy but we didn’t mind. They have small cups for water and tea, its a bummer you have to keep asking for water or get up and get it yourself. The food looked amazing with the rainbow of veggies. Downside was there wasn’t much beef in either dish and both eggs were over cooked. The dolsot was more rice than veggies and the beef was well hidden. Many of he greens in my bibimbap were wilted which made it difficult to eat. I will probably come again and try something else. I’ve had the spicy rice cake with ramen noodles and that was AMAZINGLYDELICIOUS!!!

Great place to eat. Good food and good price. They serve many small dishes prior to your meal and those little dishes taste just as great, really fresh and authentic. The cook is a traditional looking Asian man and he looks like a cool chef. The tofu soup prices are extremely low and they taste really good. I ordered a cold soba that is sooooo~ delicious and refreshing. …. ^_^

No line, but still waited 5 minutes to get acknowledged by the waitress for a seat and menu. 15 minutes later still no one taking order. Ridiculous.

Is clean and they take your order right away. I got seafood pancake not a big fan. Maybe there was to much onions. Is really big so you must be hungry to finish. I couldn’t finish. Overall taste is decent flavor. The shrimp tasted weird to me. I would come again to try something else

Nice little korean restaurant. over estimated my capacity and ordered the rice cake noodle and a tofu soup… ended up not finishing most of the soup… i personally think the taste is pretty authentic… the price is reasonable… meaning affordable, lol

Got the food to go while I was shopping. I was really happy to see the side dishes packed up and the soup was still very hot and filling. I had probably the same amount I would’ve gotten sitting down

Sik Gaek is a small hole in the wall in a local Korean supermarket and it’s the perfect place if you want a real quick eat during an hour lunch break. Sik Gaek serves up classic Korean meals with some Japanese dishes as well. A weird mix of Korean soups and traditional dishes with a sushi/roll bar. The best aspect of Sik Gaek is the quality of the food and the price. You definitely get the most bang for the buck at Sik Gaek, even though it’s not the best Korean/Japanese food you’ll ever had. My favorite dishes has to be the Korean spicy chewy noodles and sashimi rice bowl. Really fresh vegatables with great seasoning/flavoring. The weak points of Sik Gaek has to be the sushi and rolls department and service. The sushi/rolls always look a bit rushed and isn’t always nice to look at. The dining in experience is a bit lacking as the wait staff is very young girls and obviously, you get a little bit of attitude. Other than those two aspects, you get a great meal and it won’t break your bank. Recommended.

this joint is a solid 3.5 star place. if you like the food, chances are it will taste as good the next time you go. i went to goodwill, rakuya and world market and by the time i got to sil gaek i was STARVING! So it helps that it wasnt very busy this evening(the restaurant was only half full — or half empty, depending on your perspective) . there was only one server and she was very pleasant. i told her i was going to do a take away and she took my order, which i paid for and in 10 mins i was headed home with my spicy beef. it came with rice and sides like kimchi. not bad for $ 8+ ive had the ramen before, as well as the katsudon and they were tasty too. all in all you cannot go wrong w this place. NOTES: this is located INSIDETHESUPERMARKET so this is not a fancy date place. that said supermarkets would have parking lots aplenty so you can tell your posse to meet here, no need to carpool!

I would give this place 5stars. but I’m giving it 4 … because, while I don’t think the food is top quality, it’s good enough for the price… and the + i give it is the wide variety of soups, items and dishes they provide. The sushis are OK … the quantity is satisfying… but I keep coming back there beause I can get by and get a satisfying meal… I get the tofu soup(suh kuh soon tooboo) and the california roll for a quick fix… The ladies at the front are real nice… For a small little spot in a supermarket, they serve more better food than restaurants… I give them a + on that. And the service is real good. they really work hard to accommodate to give you your servings. I respect and appreciate that.

If you’re in the mood for quick no frills(McDonald style) Korean/Japanese food. This is the place. It’s not the top of the line but still tasty for the money your paying for. We ordered Rainbow Roll, a California roll topped with Slices of tuna, Salmon, white fish & avocado $ 7.95& a beef tofu soup with ban chan(fixins) $ 5.95. I’ve always received quick service from the one waitress/cashier. If you want better quality, service, & atmosphere you should be going to a full service Resturant. This rating is for fast food style.

I should have known, going to a restaurant located inside a super market was a bad idea. The fish here was not fresh at all. It was to the point where it was chewy. Sashimi should not be chewy. Also, everything was really bland. Not enough flavoring at all. Disappointed.

If I had to sum up my experience, it’d be in 3 words; Bland, Rude and Stingy. I am sitting here STILL waiting for my food after 25 minutes. All they’ve brought me is water… No side dishes or anything. When I first got here, I’d requested for a different table. The waitress gave me MAJOR attitude as if I’d asked to sacrifice her first born. When the side dishes finally came by, I got only 2. Why? Because I ordered an appetizer vs a meal. Why wouldn’t they state that in the menu, and secondly what’s the big deal? I’d requested for it and she came back telling me no. I’ve never been to a Korean restaurant that does that.

Great deals for what theyre serving. Only about $ 6.50 for soondubu. Great flavor on the soondubu, and I can tell theyre using a pretty decent broth made of I believe is some sort of fish stock(I want to say anchovy). Comes with pretty decent side dishes. The spicy cold noodle dish is good as well. Will be back!

Good prices, for average Korean food. I got the Roe Soup, which in Korean sounds like arr tang(and makes me feel like a pirate, trying to write the Romanization). It was a hug pot of sizzling hot soup in a hot pot. It came with three large roes, two clams, two baby shrimp, etc… It was a great deal for under $ 10, but the soup was less spicy than I like, and the roe was overcooked. It wasn’t the best Roe Soup I’ve had. My fiancé got the daeji bulgogi(spicy bbq pork) which was tasty but again, less spicy than I would have desired. He also got a Spicy Tuna Roll. It was small, but for less than $ 5, I wasn’t expecting large portions. I’m going to come back, and try some other dishes. If I like some of the other dishes, I’ll raise my score.

This small restaurant is located inside the hannam chain market. It has a variety of different Korean dishes and sushi rolls. In my opinion, the food isn’t the best. It’s just mediocre and nothing special. I consider this restaurant just a place to eat when it’s convenient. But hey, it’s cheap! The sushi isn’t all that fresh. I remember I got the sashimi salad rice bowl one time and they hardly gave me any pieces of fish. And the sashimi in my bowl wasn’t great. Like I said, it’s just a convenient and cheap place to eat!

Surprisingly good food in the restaurant inside of a grocery store. I had a bean curd soup which was served in a crock, still bubbly hot when it came to my table. The soup had noodles, tofu, bean curd and assorted veggies. My daughter ordered a teriyaki chicken plate which came with 6 assorted dishes on the side: seaweed, hot kimchi, mild kimchi, glass noodles, steamed rice and a cucumber salad. We enjoyed it all. I enjoyed the hot kimchi more. I think there should be more things inside of other things. Restaurant in the grocery store. Groceries often have banks and Starbucks already. Why not a tailor in the Home Depot? Fortune Teller in the bank? Fashion Consultant in Wal-Mart? @KoreanBeacon
