Tommy, Co– Proprietor and Kristen, Co-Proprietor, along with General Manager Robo are hands on and the result is a great dining experience. I also have had several functions there with different themes and everybody was impressed. When you visit Walpole, make sure you stop at Finnegan’s Wake.

I didn’t eat, so only 4 stars right now. However, I came in alone tonight, which can be intimidating, was made to feel welcome from the get go… awesome bar staff. Very clean with great décor and just a nice night overall. Can’t wait to come back and try the food that the customers were raving about!

Restaurant smelled like cigarettes thanks to all the smokers blocking the entrance. Cheese nachos were plain and overcooked. French onion soup was very good. Reuben was ok. Bread was super greasy and thousand island dressing was cheap and bottled. Fries were pre frozen. At least the beer was cold and the waitstaff was kind and attentive. Mediocre cheap food in a stinky basement.

My new favorite restaurant in Walpole! Great drinks and great food. They give you a piece of delicious corn bread to start. Prices are low and the atmosphere is not fancy. We can’t wait to return.

Great pub food cheap. Try the roast beef dip or pastrami. Also the daily lunch specials are great. A huge burger and fries or onion rings for 7 bucks. Bartender is also your waiter if you sit at a table during the week at lunch but he was fast. They also have keno and its kid friendly. Def worth checking it out.

Went to hear«Blue’s in the Corner” — great blues music and wasn’t expecting the food to be so fantastic and reasonably priced. I had the Salmon with Dill Sauce and Tomatoes and it was tender and expertly prepared. My husband had a juicy burger. This place is a local gem!

I’ve had too many good dinners here not to finally say something about it. Went back tonight because my family and I wanted a warm, cozy local place with good food. It was perfect. Had the bangers and mashed, which has become my favorite dinner here.(Have also enjoyed steak tips and Shepherd’s Pie on other occasions.) You get a heaping pile of sausages(think size of breakfast links) smothered in a delicious brown gravy and mixed with homemade mashed potatoes, onions and mushrooms. I can never finish it. That’s partly because the apps are very good, too. Went with the(6) soft pretzel sticks and Guinness mustard, which the kids loved, too. Tonight also had a potato and leek soup(soup of the day) which was delicious. — chunky potatoes in a salty, creamy broth. My wife(steak tips) and kids(kids burger and chicken fingers) also raved about their food. While it’s not the fastest place, it sure is one of the friendliest. From the waitstaff to the people around us, it was just a happy, relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend this bar for those seeking an unpretentious night out with some filling comfort food.

I’ve been going to Finnegan’s since the day they opened over a decade ago and they have certainly become an institution in the Walpole. The atmosphere might not be spectacular, but it is certainly an authentic Irish restaurant. The food(burgers and fries in particular) is always delicious. The staff is friendly and the owners are great. The bartenders here have introduced me to all sorts of different drinks literally since the day I turned 21. Finnegan’s is also a great establishment for the Walpole community. They support all things local and truly understand what it means to give back. A trip to Walpole would not be complete without a trip to Finnegan’s Wake.

Amazing local bar. Local traditionl Irish fair make it a to have a good meal no matter what day of the week. The steak tips and stuffies are my personal faves, but you cant go wrong with the cottage pie or or the bangers and mashed!!!

Oh Finnegan’s! Let your Irish lilt pull me aloft into the green shamrock clouds off the emerald isle! This place was pretty nice, pretty DAMN nice. It IS on a one way alley in what looks like an industrial type warehouse from the outside. Some friends who drive by that street everyday for work never knew this place was there. But when you open that first door, and are then transported to a magical land straight from an Irish lullaby, you will forever remember its location. Tall ceilings, friendly staff and a great karaōke DJ when I was there. Very spacious for what I was expecting. Even the owner sang a song and a great time was had by all. Prices were on the cheaper side too, and I hear their food is great! My only qualm was the heat was on full blast for some reason. Poor DJ’s had to sit right under a couple of the vents also. If the temp was turned down a bit, and the bartender gave me her number, it would of been a five star experience!

This is my favorite local restaurant– I stick to the appetizer menu because they are cheap and very tasty. The potato skins are amazing– basically a potato cut in half the short way– filled with cheese and bacon like a delicious little cup of fattening deliciousness :) Their rueben and french dip can’t be beat. No lie, best French Dip and Reuben I have had… ever. Service is slow but friendly, great place to sit for a couple hours and chit chat with a friend over a bottle of wine. Or come down alone with a book. Very reasonably priced. Great place.

I really like this place. A lot of the Irish pubs are going downhill and out of business but this one deserves to stay. Everyone in my family can find something good here and I do too, even though I’m a vegetarian. They have good nachos(not authentic, but hey) and good basics like burgers and shepards pie. They also have good seafood specials. Everyone is really friendly here too. It’s clean and there is plenty of parking.

Finnegan’s Wake is a true hidden gem for those outside of the Walpole area. Tucked away in the basement of a underutilized commercial building on a downtown Walpole sidestreet, Finnegan’s Wake offers a truly cozy, comfortable and friendly atmosphere in both the bar(with an Irish pub authenticity I’ve been told) and dining room area. The Guiness pie, Shepards pie turkey dinner, and Irish potato pizza are highly recommended! Aisde from some spotty service in the dining room, Finnegan Wake is a personal favorite, given its welcoming, attractive presence and terrific food to match.

Finnegan’s wake periodically has great«events» like comedy night. The rest of the time it is good for watching the Red Sox, Pats or Celtics and having a drink or two. The food is good and their shepards pie is yummy and huge. Could use a few more draft beer choices, but they have the Irish ones covered.

Joyce would be proud. A true Irish pub owned by a true Irish man. The owner Kirwin’s Kitchen traded up for a pub and went straight for authenticity and created an establishment you are far more likely to find the counterpart to in Ireland than one of those with shamrocks and fancy brass tap towers. Finnegan’s is clean, tasty, and understated. You are lucky this place has a sign, because that is about the only outward indication that there is a restaurant. It is in the basement in what was once the Rebel(a towny place that I had many meals in as a child.) You have to go down a one way side street that looks like an alley from downtown Walpole. Having grown up in the town, I sasdly can only say to aim between what used to be Bank Boston and what used to be the downtown video store. I think now it is Bank of America and a tuxedo shop? Anyway, on to the review. If you find it, you will find: Reasonably priced Guinness Very good tasting cottage pie, bangers and mash, and Guinness pie A delectable assortment of utilitarian pub food Pretty good service, though not very quick with the check it seems A good place to go for dinner or for your last drink of the night(I wouldn’t go to any other bar downtown. On second thought, what are you doing in downtown Walpole for your last drink of the night? If you aren’t home by closing hour then you should probably be in some other downtown.) Just because you have to know where this place is to find it doesn’t mean it won’t be crowded. Anyone that grew up in the town will know where it is, so St. Patrick’s day and comedy night is sure to be busy. I don’t remember when comedy nights are… but I know they exist. Stop by, have a pint and a burger and suppor this excellent independent restuarant.
