First time Trying Upper Crust after hearing good stuff about the place from people… Ordered a Large Pizza with Caramelized Onions, Italian Sausage and Riccotta… and also a mini calzones … pizza was huge. but the taste not so much that great considered it was $ 21 for a pizza… I was expecting better pizza for the price they charge for pizzas…

I don’t understand why someone would pay money to support a bunch of crooked business owners who will do everything they possibly can to screw their employees out of an honest day’s pay. Besides, you can get better pizza right down the street. Franchisee, sure. You should be ashamed of yourselves if you own an Upper Crust or you eat there.

Good pizza, Everything’s wicked expensive even the soda But they have huge pies and beer A bit too crispy for my taste but if u like «Sweet tomatoes» restaurant’s pizza you’ll love this Also multiple awards from phantom gourmet And they deliver Multiple locations so if u do like it u can find them almost anywhere close to where ur at

I ordered a pie from here once, and I was severely disappointed with the quality. I would not usually pay about $ 20 for a basic onion and green pepper pie, but if it’s good quality, it’s worth the money. Sadly, this pizza was not. It was boring, soggy and barely had any toppings! For a pizza chain that usually is very busy, I expected a lot better.

Every single time we order from here, they get it wrong. Literally. This past order I scheduled for pick up; when we got there, they told us «Oh, we were just about to leave to deliver it». Then they told us that we have two pizzas instead of one because they messed up our order. Yes, a free pizza is great, but it just added to the mess of mistakes that we have encountered since starting to order here in September. Other incidences include deliveries arriving 1 ½ hours late, or not even at all! One night we had company over and ordered dinner and when it never arrived, we called and we were told that a delivery person knocked at our door and no one answered(not true, the door was wide open). They allegedly dispatched another pizza and it also never arrived. After calling again, we were told that the last pizza supposedly arrived here and that it was«left on our door step». AREYOUKIDDINGME??? How does that happen? We ordered the pizza at 430pm and were still fighting about things at 830pm. It was exhausting. It was massively disappointing and made me feel like a fool in front of my guests. We ended up ordering from somewhere else. Side note, I have also ordered a large salad as a side dish and it was pretty disappointing as well. The lettuce was browning badly and I’m pretty sure I got 2 rings of onion and a slice of tomato. Pretty lame for what the cost is. But yet, like a battered wife, we still order from here once in a while. We are slaves to the Swellsley pizza which is very tasty and unlike anything I have had. We should know better, but since we are relatively new to the area, we are still figuring out good take-out places.

If you have a choice between eating at this Upper Crust on Moody Street in Waltham… or the one in Lexington center, Lexington center wins by a landslide in terms of quality. When my girlfriend and I ate at this location not too long ago, they not only got the order wrong, but the pizza itself was of horrible quality and extremely bland. We didn’t eat in the place, but the decidedly«drunken college crowd» that was populating it the night we ordered made the decision to take our food home that much easier. Anyways… there’s better places out there for Pizza, and better Upper Crusts’ then this location. I give them 2 stars because the food was at least edible.

So let me preface this by first stating that the pizza is really, really good. Great in fact. Why then, do I refuse to eat here? To quote the Boston Business Journal — «the Upper Crust was the subject of a 2009 Department of Labor investigation into unfair labor practices, including cheating workers out of overtime at some of the chain’s 20 Boston-area locations. That investigation revealed revealed back wages of $ 341,545.53 were due to 121 employees in 10 stores» It then allegedly retaliated against these employees. They can keep their delicious human rights violations.

Ok so I like the pizza here. If they didn’t offer anything else and it was just walk in, order pizza, eat I’d say five stars. Unfortunately it’s the other things that drop off the stars. The delivery is still terrible. I tried a mini calzone last night. There was no indication of the size anywhere but I figured that for $ 5+ it would be a meal. How wrong I was. The mini calzone is essentially a 6 inch breadstick with a little bit of stuff in it. Probably the size of a piece of pizza if you unfold it. Not sure how they came up with that rip-off price but yeah I’d avoid them if you want an actual meal.

I’m a fan of Upper Crust. It’s one of the places I’ll go for pizza when I’m in the mood to actually get out of the house, but don’t want a sit down family-type restaurant or a divey pizza place. Upper Crust is casual and very mellow. They serve booze(I hear their Sangria is pretty great) and the pizza is yummalicious as well. When I’m looking for out of this world pizza, Upper Crust is not where I’ll end up. Not to say that the pizza isn’t good — it definitely is good, it’s just not the primary factor that pushes me in their direction. If i’m looking for something more of a night out, maybe a lil fancier(yea, it’s more than $ 9 or whatever for a large), this is where you’ll find me. I don’t do Upper Crust very often, but when I do I’m seldom(if ever) disappointed. Also, I hear they have trivia nights now too. Haven’t checked it out yet, but it’s on the list of things to check out in the near future.

Hey guys, what’s going on here! No one is perfect! We got our pizza yesterday delivered in 15 minutes. And«all topping» was awesome! And all my friend were happy. We definitely will call them again!

Pretty much love all the locations, but this is the one I most frequent. I don’t understand how anyone cannot love this pizza. Amazing ingredients, amazing combinations, so delicious. Great for delivery(because it’s free!), great for eating in because then you can order a beer with your slice(though the acoustics in this particular location are horrible). For lunch, nothing is better than their slice of the day combo with the side salad. Perfection. I recently took an out-of-town friend here and she said it was the best pizza she’s ever had. It’s definitely my favorite Sicilian pizza. I really don’t mind the high prices, because I think you’re getting a much higher quality product than other pizzerias. Only reason for the 4 stars is because of their human rights violations, so awful. Normally I would give it a much lower score due to that, but I can’t deny that it’s my favorite pizza in Boston. If Upper Crust gets their act together then I will re-review and easily give them five stars.

As the two stars indicate, I’ve had better. This place could maybe, possibly deserve 3 stars, but the price really knocks it down one. This is basically utility pizza with a price bump. That being said, the pizza is pretty thin so it’s easy to scarf down 8 or so slices, which taste ok for delivery pizza.

Here’s the deal. So I wrote a review of this place when I first moved back to MA and was naïve and didn’t know better. Now I do. I still think their product is tasty, but overpriced. Even worse, however, is their treatment of employees. Google The Upper Crust and you will find dozens of articles on the controversy surrounding their recruitment techniques as well as their treatment of employees, especially those recruited outside of the country. While I am sure there are perhaps some exaggerations out there, I am also confident that the media and greater community is onto something. I refuse to spend my money at, and support, a company that has such shady business practices. It’s a shame because I like their pizza, and I live right next to one — but I will go outside of my immediate area in order to get pizza if that’s what it takes to avoid giving these guys my money.

We liked our first pizza from Upper Crust, though the price was unbelievable. Last night we ordered two small pizzas. One was with sausage and onion. The edges on the sausage pizza were burned black and the carbon flavor was a bit overwhelming. The other small pizza was a special that we ordered with prosciutto and arugula. I was envisioning a pizza covered in greeny goodness. I was stunned to see(and I am not exaggerating) 6 – 8 leaves scattered on the pizza. For $ 1.50 I could have bought an enormous bag of arugula and wallowed in it. It was totally pathetic. The pizzas were about 20 minutes late and the BF, who was waiting for them to be done, was made to feel very uncomfortable by the staff. I think what bothers me the most is how expensive this place is, considering how inconsistent the food and service can be. Maybe a few honest reviews will make some changes happen here. I think it could be an awesome place, but they really need to step up the service and food and lower their prices.

STOP!!! Before ordering anything from this place, read this review. A better name for this place would be, «upper crusty curmudgeon Pizza», because the girl at the counter has no business waiting on people. Whatever time they tell you, double it. Because it won’t be ready when you get there, and the staff will look annoyed that you are waiting. Now for the best part. They are EXPENSIVE beyond belief. In this economy $ 31 for two small pizzas is ridiculous. The crust was too thin and near burnt. The toppings($ 1.50 a piece) were skimpy and almost non-existent on some slices. I wrote to Upper Crust hoping for some compensation for a waste of time and money. If they do not respond we will never be going there again. There are plenty of other pizza places! Hey Upper Crust, Time to get your $#@! together, or you won’t be in business very much longer. READ your reviews, I am not alone.

As there are very few good pizza places in Waltham, I was thrilled when this store opened on Moody Street. Their pizza is light and delicious, with a very thin, but not too crispy crust. Their ingredients are of very high quality, which I appreciate, because the quality really comes through in the flavors. Parking isn’t an issue, as a city lot is located conveniently behind it on Chestnut Street. There are only two major issues I have with this store, and the reason I give only four stars out of of five: their staff is sometimes annoying and inattentive to customers waiting at the cash register to pick up their orders. Also, their menu doesn’t have the usual appetizer options that grace the menus of so many pizza joints in the area(e.g. mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, etc.). Other than those two complaints, Upper Crust is my go-to pizza place in Waltham.

Yum! Upper Crust is a quality, gourmet pizza place in downtown Waltham. Of course, it’s on Moody street with all of the other places to go. I went for lunch with friends when we wanted to get away from campus and it was a nice get away. Because it’s gourmet, it’s a bit pricier than other pizza places, but it’s definitely yummy.

AH! My favorite. We live on the same block and have been ordering from here for 2 years, at least once a month. This place triumph’s over what other pizza places THINK a good pizza place should be… The uncommon pizza is my favorite. Their selection of Naked Sodas are delicious and add to the pizza experience. The staff is always super friendly and quick to help me get my pizza fix. The place is funky on the inside. It’s great and is worth the extra $$. You’ll know it once you take your first bite!

BBQ chicken pizza on a whole wheat crust! I love that you can specify a crust option. It added a whole new flavor dimension and flavor to it. SOGOOD. Just had to let ya’ll know. Awesomely crispy. As we were walking back to the apartment, the smell of the pizza made my knees weak. And it was sooooo worth the trek through the snow.

Thank goodness they opened an Upper Crust in Waltham; for some reason, the one in Watertown didn’t deliver to West Newton(which is slightly annoying). I love how they make your pizza to order; I usually share with a friend and get a half hamburger-mushroom, half pepperoni, slice tomato, and bacon pizza. Such delicious thin crust! Their delivery guys rock; usually they say it’ll take about 45 minutes, but I’ve never had more than a 20 minute wait.
