Don’t call and order ahead. They won’t make it till you get there no point. Other than that good pizza.

I should have tried this place years ago, just for the mozzarella alone! We ordered the meat lover’s pizza also, and on this huge and heavenly pizza were ground beef, bacon, a lot of cheese and just plain old greasy pizza– the way it’s suppose to taste! The mozzarella is filled with cheese, and fried in a nice manner. More importantly, the gentleman taking the order was so nice in taking our order. We didn’t realize that we ordered a «special» but be made sure that he told us to get a free drink with the order! I will be back for their subs very soon.

I’ve been going to this place since I was a kid. Always loved it. Great pizza. I really recommend this place. No delivery unfortunately.

No frills. Just good affordable grub. The place has been there since early 80s and he knows his city well. Cheap deals for college students, free cans of soda with large subs, daily specials, etc. It is a classic place to sit, watch whatever is on the tv, and fill your stomach.

Thought I was getting their pizza special but didn’t realize I was paying regular price because I added toppings. Their pizza was decent. I think they just heat it up. I don’t think they make the pizza there, but it’s cheap. I tried to eat a slice there but felt a little uncomfortable. There were guys/workers lurking, asking odd questions. I didn’t get the best vibe.

This is our new pizza place. The owner was a very nice man. As I understand it, he’s had his little pizza shop for over 20 years, longevity is always a good sign. Pizza was tasty, freshly-made, and you could not beat the price for the quality. We got a small house special and a large Diablo, both delish! Perhaps next time I will try one of the subs.

Pizza is a weekly ritual for my family, so when I moved to Waltham recently, we needed to identify«our pizza place». After trying a half dozen places in the area, we found it. Authentic, affordable, friendly. Fantastic pie.

This place makes an awesome steak bomb sub! The flavor is great; they use fresh and tasty ingredients too! I am giving them 5 stars!!!

There is something that can be said about a gentle Greek man still behind the counter of his own pizza place after all these years. If he’s still standing in confidence answering every phone call, then you know you’ve found something special. Monday and Tuesday nights is a dirt cheap large cheese for $ 6.99, which causes gang riots with the posse at Angelo’s offering similar pricing. Although the market point here is that Athen’s maintained the size of their large through tough economic times, as Angelo’s has cleverly downgraded it’s «large» to that of the Domino’s scale. A little stuffy for dining in, it’s definitely one of those go-to takeout places after a long day. Their deals reeled me in; their staff and consistency kept me loyal. Must try: steak and egg sub with mayo, hot peppers, and the works. Best in Waltham offering: their french fries. Honestly, they’re the best I think I’ve had anywhere. Pizza: pan cooked for a fluffy crust with a pretzelly crunch. The very definition of comfort food, covering the greasy, the gooey, and an inexplicable sweetness with the sauce. Tie it all together and it’s boom, bang, pow in my kisser. This is such a nice escape from all the local places claiming to be New York pizza. Sure, you’ll lose a couple months off your life if you eat a piece, but with these slices of heaven, you know what you have to look forward to is going to be delicious when your heart eventually gives out. Orgasm in your mouth: Are you ready for this gluttony? Their bacon pizza(the bacon comes in abundance, slightly charred adding an amazing crunch factor, and spreads its hickory-smoked grease across its Great Plains of cheese) topped with their french fries, and then lightly covered with the ketchup packets they provide for you. Lost your job? Eat it! Just got broke off with? Eat it! Got stabbed outside Rendezvous? Eat it then call 911! While Greek-style pizza isn’t everyone’s definition of a pizza, I consider myself to be Webster because it sure as hell is mine.

This small hole in the wall and well worth taking to go. This place is awesome sauce. the pizza is great, subs are very well sized. Chicken fingers are crispy and delicious. I can not speak highly enough about this place. The owner is always there and never rude to customers. When I moved here my kitchen was being renovated and the slices are great. $ 1.90 for generous sized slices. Definitely stop in and bring cash to leave a tip!

Worst salad ever. Opened it and threw it right away. Biggest waste of $ 6. Had red peppers and mounds of white onions… The cucumbers even were welted and the place itself looked run down. So mad right now. I shudve known when the cashier gave me a free slice of pizza.

This small, modest joint is located on the Soutern end of Moody Street and serves up some pretty tasty Greek pizzas amongst other things. It’s a family owned business with friendly owners and while they don’t deliver, patrons are able to eat there or pick food up. Their menu isn’t very diverse but features the classics which are pizzas, subs, pastas, salads and a few appetizers including their garlic bread($ 2), mozzarella sticks($ 3.29), onion rings($ 2.25), amongst others. But what I can here for was their pizza which I called in and was able to pickup a few minutes later. I live less than a half a mile away from there and the whole process was very easy despite the fact that they don’t have a website. I ordered their small Athenian pizza($ 6.90) which features feta, olives and spinach. The smaller size was perfect for me and it was ready in less than ten minutes. And the Greek pizza was a different take on the usual Italian style which has flooded the Boston area just about everywhere. But what is a Greek pizza you might ask? Well it’s a simple but slightly different process during which the dough is baked in a shallow pan, over a small amount of olive oil. This results in a chewier, puffier dough which is quite different. Overall, my experience there was good. They accept credit card payments, they were friendly, the place is clean albeit a bit on the claustrophobic side but I was happy to support a local, family business and wouldn’t hesitate to get more pizzas from them in the future. Especially since the quality is solid and the prices are incredibly competitive. On a side note, it looks like Greek actress Nia Vardalos, famous for her leading role in ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ has been there and even signed a photo of herself which is proudly displayed on the wall. Cool.

This is the farthest from NYC pie that I’ve seen here in the Boston area. It reminded me of the pizza that I got from the free lunches that were offered in the Boston public schools circa 1982, the pizza that fitted into the rectangular foil tins. It’s a very thick crust with lots of cheese, but not the good quality kind, just passable and decent enough to not be gross. Lots of gooey cheese with just a faint enough flavor of mozzarella to call it cheese. I don’t plan on returning.

Not my style pizza. I think it was mainly because of the amount/type of sausage on the«special».

Good for quick, cheap pizza since it’s right around the corner, but I’ve definitely had better. The crust is a little thicker than I like and the sauce could be seasoned better. Avoid the subs, they tend to feature way too much lettuce on soggy bread. Got a BLT recently and what little bacon it had was mushy and barely cooked. Service is good, the guy at the counter is always friendly and we get out food pretty quick.

I only put 4 stars because 5 star reviews are often filtered out. I remember eating at a great pizza joint in my hometown of Concord called New London Style Pizza. The kind of place that has a bit thicker crust that comes out nice and crispy. I’ve had the onion rings which are really good too. I’ve also had the Greek salad with chicken which is really good as well. The owners are really nice and the food is more than fairly priced. Check this place out, you won’t regret it!

They DON’T deliver, let’s get that straight! That said, the pizza was tasty — very crispy crust — as were the onion rings. A few too few jalapeño poppers in the order(I think there were only five) but overall quite satisfying. Not sure if it was good enough to go pick it up again, but fair value for the money. Nice guys, gave me some free soda with the order.

I lived in Waltham for 2+ years and tried food all up and down Moody. This is definitely a place to hit up if youre looking for good, cheap pizza… me and my party got a large meatball, large bacon, a small peperoni and a garlic bread. the pizza is the thick ‘Greek’ style pizza: bready crust, lots of(good) cheese, and a very tasty light sauce, cooked in a pan. I’m not usually a fan of this type of pizza, but this was superb. Really really tasty ingredients(everyone thought the quality of the toppings were perfect). its a small hole in the wall, but definitely check it out! its worth the trek up moody!

Not much to say that hasn’t already been said. Delicious pizza, extremely fair prices, that’s all you need!!! As far as I’m concerned, Athen’s and Briggs(Attleboro) are in a tie for the number one pizza place in New England. If you don’t love their pizza, your taste buds are not functioning properly!

Wow, I’m SO glad I live around the corner from this place! I had to try them because they’re so close, even though I don’t often order pizza. Athen’s is a hole in the wall, but they will surprise many pizza lovers. As a Boston transplant, I must say that the pizza in this city is very disappointing, especially if you’re stuck living in JP or Allston. As a newcomer to Waltham, I’ve been dreading the little pizza joints on Moody and Main streets. I ordered the Pesto Pizza, which is a white pizza w/spinach, onions, thinly sliced tomatoes, and obviously pesto. I’m so pleasantly surprised. The crust is the perfect thickness, and cooked crispy enough to support its own weight… even thought he pizza is pretty stacked with cheese and toppings. These guys do not skimp on toppings, and everything tastes fresh. I do like the occasional thin UpperCrust pizza that flops around like paper, but my true test of a good pizza is when it can hold it’s weight while you hold it by the crust. This pizza does that, and it’s delicious! I can’t wait to try the red sauce pizzas and sandwiches that others have recommended!
