DC needs more bars like Angles. It may be on the main street in Adams Morgan flanked by a many good bar, but the moment you walk in, you feel transported into a dive bar on the coast of Maine. The owner looks the part and is just awesome. There’s a bar, seating, and a pool table in the way back complete with games to play. It’s a bit dingy, but that only adds to the allure. They have a great beer list(including several ciders to choose from). The food is decent(My grilled chicken sandwich hit the spot). During the winter, Angles has a working fireplace and if you go on a Sunday evening, you’ll see a group of locals who go here every week. Bring more of these places to DC!

I came here for the first time tonight, was having a great time, and having a few drinks with friends. This all changed for me when I saw that they had Prophet Mohamed pictures from Charlie hebdo on the walls. I am really annoyed that there are bars in DC where we can’t all feel comfortable. I can promise I won’t be back here, and am truly sad to know that there is a bar in a neighborhood I love like Adams Morgan that doesn’t respect me. It’s with a very sad heart that I write this.

Angles is my old faithful in Adams Morgan. It’s a small, cozy spot — usually on the side of empty — with really wonderful service and reasonable prices(the Angles Amber is my favorite deal — a halfway decent amber beer costing around $ 13 for a pitcher). They have a nice fireplace and boardgames to play. I like to bring a group of friends here for a low-key start(or end) to the night. It’s not upbeat and loud like most of the other places around, but it fits the bill more often than not. I always make this a stop when I’m in the neighborhood.

Not much of a bar scene person and I went there for a blues dance night. Th. ere wasn’t anyone there for the blues dance night they hosted. There was like 2 women and a bunch of guys standing around and that was effectively the last time i’ll ever go there for the blues dance night. The bar is small and service is fast, and I’m not a fan of crowded small bars hence why I gave this place two stars. I didn’t see anything that separated Angles from other dive bars.

Very chill bar, nice service and decent selection or beers… no food today for us, next time… menu looks nice!

This place is great. I live in the neighborhood and walked by a million times. They drew me in when I passed their sign outside advertising«Choptank Sweets» oysters. We went that night and had a great meal. Steak, duck, oysters. The service was great and the bartender was very friendly too. We’ve since gone back 3 – 4 times and are never disappointed. This is definitely a locals spot, and it can look a little divey– but it’s a great spot.

I’m always trying to corral my friends into going to Angles, which is a sign of a great spot. Even better is that most of them love it too. It’s basically the antithesis of an Adams Morgan bar. You can always find a seat at the bar, make friends(I have made a few!) and you can even order delicious food from Little Fountain downstairs if you end up there before 11. The bartenders are always friendly, though my personal favorite is Deb who works there on Wednesdays and Saturdays and has so much energy you wonder how it’s possible. I’ve ended up talking to the owner a few times and he’s also super nice. I hate to even write a review for this place because it’s so low-key and unassuming for the neighborhood, but I feel like people deserve to know there’s a locals non-bro-filled bar out there!

The girls and I came here on a bachelorette party scavenger hunt after midnight on a saturday night and had an AWESOME time. The other patrons were so fun and took part in our scavenger hunt dares. The bartender was so kind to us and even gave us specials on our shots for the night. It was a great girls night out!

Angles is a dive bar sitting atop Little Fountain Café. It’s a no-frills kinda place, with plenty of space and seating. Quite a departure from the surrounding bars. The weird thing about this place is how empty it always seems to be. If a near empty, very quiet joint is where you want to grab your drink, this is your spot. That just isn’t what I’m normally going for. We stuck to having drinks out front, but there is a back room with a pool table and some TVs, as well.

For a bar that is almost always empty, it takes a really long time to get a drink. Plus I’ve been here maybe 50 times, and I did not know they had a pool table until I saw the pictures on Unilocal

Angles is a great bar. I have been going to Angles on and off for at least five years and it’s such a great stalwart of the neighbourhood. It’s divey but you come here enough and you’ll start to know everyone’s name(or at least their faces). I was in admo last Thursday at Black Squirrel in the basement, which was alright, but pretty quiet with a friend of mine and decide to jump ship so we wander over to Pharmacy-nope three people in the whole place. I’m like, okay, let’s go to Angles. She’s maybe a little ‘too cool too shiny’ or something, but I push open the doors and there’s at least seven people at the bar and folks looking like they’re ballroom dancing or something to top 40 in the back. Gets more action in the week than the weekend, which is special for the neighbourhood. It’s definitely a local’s spot. People have a good time here: if you go with an open mind and a chill heart you will find fun at Angles. The folks at Angles don’t mind if you move their tables and chairs around or if come in with a big group as long as you all aren’t being rowdy or ridiculous, and sometimes they’ll let you get drinks past last call if the moon is shining on you right. The men’s bathroom doesn’t lock and hasn’t since I’ve been there, but the women’s does and that’s all I care about.

I agree with the other reviewers here in that Angles is not your typical Adams Morgan bar. This place is definitely a locals spot. Locals meaning people who live nearby, folks who are looking for something chill and a bit more ‘grown up’ but at the same time want to go to a divey bar. The guys who were working there were friendly and fast. Bar was pretty busy but they did a good job making sure people were served in a timely manner. Angles has plenty of seating and pool tables in the rear. There are drink specials almost every day of the week. We took advantage of the $ 12 Amber pitcher which was a steal considering the quality of the beer. Bud pitchers were $ 8 if I remember correctly. Music was a mix of everything. Paul Simon to a little top 40. 3 stars for chill atmosphere, attentive bartenders and keeping the neighborhood bars in DC’s neighborhoods!

If you’re looking for drunken college kids and idiots galore this place is NOT for you. If you’re looking to chill, have a conversation where you don’t have to scream at each others ears, and maybe meet some interesting people, you came to the right place. I’ll have to agree with previews reviewers who categorized it as your neighborhood bar. Sadly not many of those remaining in this transitional town. There is a pool in the back room. Pretty cheap. Board games, tables and tv in the middle room and long bar with a great big window in the front room. Their burgers and chicken sandwiches are some of the best you’ll find in DC and DC area. Very nice beer and liquor selection, though I generally opted for house amber, which stays deliciously refreshing regardless of the season!

Don’t come here for house wine. The Malbec is $ 8.50; in a dive bar really!?! We only went there because of the late night happy hour special that was advertised. It looked like they had some board games, which is cool. I can dig that. But, uh, that wine price… At least my friend had a mixed drink for $ 4. Lesson: ask the price before ordering…

Only one pool table at this unassuming neighborhood place where you won’t see the see-to-be-seen crowd. $ 1.50 for pool, $ 2 for jukebox. Good selection if beers, with specials until 8pm I think. They have board games too!

This is Your Neighborhood Bar in the most unlikely of neighborhoods, a place that can feel like the living room in the house you don’t yet own, or a place like your friend’s dad’s basement from when you were growing up, where you can shoot pool and listen to music while the TV(news or sports) is on in the background, and where no matter how large or loud another party’s conversation is, they’re somehow not annoying: everyone seems to be there just to have a good, cheap drink to unwind or connect with friends. So yes, the beer selection is better than you would expect. The pours of liquor are nice and heavy. The prices are very fair and cheap for the neighborhood. The bartenders are the friendliest bunch; I’ve never asked for a cocktail here as it’s not that kind of place, but I bet they’d be okay with giving it a try if you could kindly give them directions. The happy hour extends till 8:00 or 9:00. And the food! Shockingly good for a bar. They share a kitchen with The Little Fountain Café, so you’re getting very well-made bar fare(half priced, excellent burgers more than one night of the week!) as well as full entrees if you want. Too many just lovely moments to share here. Calling the phone numbers on the Jenga pieces resulted in an excited«I LIVEINBROOKLYNNOWBUTKNOWEXACTLYWHEREYOUARE. I PUTMYNAMEONTHATPIECEYEARSAGOANDYOU’RETHEFIRSTPERSONTOEVERCALL.» Friends and I being 10 of the 15 people here on a Saturday night meant a cheaper-than-expected tab and lots of money going into the jukebox. Explaining with a smile to couples on dates that yes, that is in fact the only pool table and laughing with them about it. It’s just a really good place to be for the times you’re not seeking anything when you go out.

Great«neighborhood» bar… perhaps the only bar in Adams Morgan that feels like a neighborhood bar. There are usually a bunch of locals in here. My friends like to go here to play pool(yes, there is a pool table in the back). The beer list is ok(though they are sometimes out of what I want); they almost always have a house draft on tap. They used to have a great 2-for-1 buy of burgers on Tuesday nights(I think?)… I assume it’s still running… It’s not a sports bar, but is a decent place to go to watch sporting events. This little neighborhood bar is not a spot to go dancing… it’s a place to chill, have a beer, sit and talk, watch TV, and shoot some pool. It’s almost hidden, tucked in between all the bigger, flashier spots that strive to attract as many young, writhing bodies as they can on weekend nights.

I could not get service at the bar. I waited for 15mins. Many of the people who were served arrived after me. At one point, the bartender left the bar to get dirty pitchers and cups. Good to know I’m less important than cleaning up. Going there was a complete disaster because bars are suppose to serve patrons. I left and got drunk elsewhere.

I’m going to go 5 stars on this place. I had a friend visiting from Texas who wanted to see some DC night life, so we went to Adams Morgan. First mistake since we’re not in college and/or in the habit of enjoying tacky bars and dealing with nasty men. BUT, to our luck we stumbled upon Angles… definitely an older crowd, but the divey feel was perfect. It wasn’t overly crowded, we got seats at the bar, affordable drinks and friendly bar staff who agreed to take our picture. All-in-all, I would recommend Angles to anyone looking for an enjoyable, low-key evening out while still getting the bar atmosphere in a busy area of DC.
