Pretty awesome pizza and wings. I really didn’t expect much from a hole in the wall place like this but it was damn good. The reason for the four stars instead of five is because the service was really really slow. Food was worth it though.

Ordered on a Friday night said it would be there in 15 mins took over an hour and a half. The food was hot and ready when it arrived. And would have been better if the didn’t lie about delivery time. Got 1 large pizza and wings for like $ 40 kinda expensive but tasty. In the future I would go pick it up instead of waiting on delivery.

And the award for most awkward name ever goes to… Ok, but seriously, Meat in a Box provides good Middle Eastern food. Some girlfriends and I made a huge order for delivery(it was a wine-and-dine-in kind of night) and all of us were happy with our orders. The combo kabob platters are a particularly great value of food for the money. We had no problems at all with ordering and delivery, and would certainly order from them again.

It was alright. I had the falafel box and I wasn’t impressed at all. My husband got the beef box and it was a little better. Even drunk we didn’t really care for it so I think that says a lot. If there’s a next time maybe I’ll try a pizza instead.

Ordered food at 10:25PM with a 50 minute wait time. At 11:20PM, called restaurant to learn status of order. Restaurant stated driver just returned and would deliver order in 10 minutes. At around 11:50PM, called restaurant again. They stated driver was already out for delivery. Did not receive delivery until around 12:10AM. Total wait time about 1 hour 45 minutes.

We ordered a Medium cheese pizza and it took at least 20 minutes. We saw everyone in front of us get served because they ordered individual slices. So basically we were getting penalized for ordering a whole pizza… When we asked the person in charge why it took so long, he claimed it was because the place was busy. There was barely anyone else there tbh. Literally. People after us got their orders in masses after us. We were made to feel as if we were a nuisance and nobody cared that we waited at least 20 minutes. For a 12″ pizza. And it wasn’t busy. At all.

This is my favorite spot in Adams Morgan. The staff is always friendly and customer oriented — a great way to top off your night out. I’ve ordered for delivery and stopped in and never had a bad experience. The jumbo slices truly are jumbo and ready quick! The kabob is cooked very well, perfectly tender and flavorful. I would recommend the hummus and chicken wings as appetizers. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

The food here is phenomenal! I’ve never had better kabobs. Both the chicken and beef are seasoned to perfection and are so juicy. I would also recommend the falafel, which are so much better then the dry falafel at Amsterdams up the street. This is my place to go after a night out especially since the hours are so great.

After missing the 10PM Chipotle/Shophouse cutoof, I turned to my trusty Unilocal app to find an open restaurant where I could get food fast. Delivery is always prone to error and I was too impatient(and ravenous), so I carried out my food. I ordered the falafel and combination(chicken and beef) boxes. Food was okay. A lot of pita for the portion of meat. Beef was the best of the bunch, well seasoned. Chicken was juicy, but pretty tasteless when eaten alone. Falafel was decent, but not better than Amsterdam up the street. The Meat in a Box will fill you up for $ 10 but it’s not the best quick meal on 18th St.

DONOTORDERDELIVERY!!! The service was beyond terrible. After waiting 50 minutes from the time I ordered online, I got a text saying it was on its way. I called a 20 minutes later and they said the car had left 10 minutes ago. The car showed up 35 minutes later — meaning the pizza had been out of the oven for at least 45 minutes. I ultimately ended up waiting an hour and 45 minutes and paying $ 30 for cold pizza. NEVERAGAIN

I have ordered delivery from here twice and both times I find myself exclaiming over and over about how amazing the pizza is(which makes me feel slightly dorky). I have no idea why it tastes so good, but it does. I haven’t tried anything but the pizza(both times the hawaiian), so I can’t comment on anything but that. I really hope the two times weren’t a fluke! I will definitely be ordering from them again(despite the name, which prevented me from ordering from there for a good couple of years — don’t let the name fool you!).

Ordered from here a few times and the delivery wait varies from minutes to over an hour. They’ve gotten my order right every time except once — they forgot my ginger ale and ketchup, then came back with only the ginger ale. Meat in a Box is your best bet — the kabobs are great! I get the beef skewers, one or two depending on how hungry I am. Avoid the pizza — you can get much better somewhere else.

I’ve only eaten their stuff at the restaurant. Great little take out joint. The menu was straightforward and the food was delicious. Their chicken and beef kabobs are legit! Very moist and tender meat!

What a terrible place. This is by far the rudest service I have received in the city. We ordered a pizza with a lot of toppings after I had asked how much the medium vs. large would cost since we were a group of five. Only after she had put in the order to ring us up did a medium pizza cost $ 25. I clearly questioned her as this seemed ridiculous. The woman was beyond rude and only then did she point out that ALL toppings were a $ 1.50 a piece. Of course she did not tell us that before hand and let us rack up the pricing and then said she could not change the order as they had already started making it. The worst part was that the pizza wasn’t even that great. Clearly immoral people run this place and you should not waste your time. Plenty of other jumbo slice places in the area with much tastier pizza and lower prices.

I’ve ordered from this place a few times now. The service is fast, and, in my experience, polite. The kabobs are really delicious, definitely among the best on offer around here if you want Middle Eastern food. They are fresh, perfectly grilled, and very flavorful. The sauces they come with are delicious as well. As an experiment, I got the pizza last time as well, just to see what it was like. It wasn’t bad, but I think I will stick to the meat in a box!

You did it again, meat in a box! My man loves your ‘za and my salad(beautiful mesclun, feta cheese, dried cranberries, cucumber, tomato) with the amazing yogurt sauce, spicy green sauce, and balsamic, topped with the chicken kabob… Heaven! Only one small complaint… I ordered an extra skewer of meat and specified beef. I think I was imagining steak pieces but it was more like ground burger/kofta(?) It was okay but not anything like the chicken or lamb. Overall: another amazing delivery meal. Just a note, Unilocalers: order from meat in a box’s website and save 10%.

I’ve never made it out to the original Meat In A Box in Virginia, so I am glad they opened a location in DC. I stopped in here late last Friday night, and got a lot of food for $ 10. The meal came with two types of meat, chicken and beef, served on a large portion of rice, salad, pita, and a mild yogurt sauce and spicy green sauce that went great with the meat. I liked the chicken better than the beef, but both were really good. The chicken tasted like it had been well-marinated, had a nice grilled taste, but not charred, and it wasn’t dry or overdone. This place is open very late(past 3 am on Friday and Saturday nights), and it’s nice to have a quick, filling, non-greasy option in the area for late night food besides Amsterdam Falafel down the street. I appreciated that it wasn’t overcrowded, even though the space is kind of small, and the people behind the counter were extremely friendly. I would expect that serving the late-night Adams Morgan crowd might take a toll on their patience, however they were really nice and helpful to everyone.

Meat in a Box. What a name. Not a lot of confusion over what you’re going to get. And nor should there be. This place just opened, and although it was blazing hot outside and the box fans were blasting just to keep the temperature what one could generously call«tolerable,» the Meat in a Box experience is excellent. I know there were some pizzas on the menu, but I never even looked at that part. Why should I? It’s called Meat in a Box for a reason. Give me some meat, in a box, please. We chose to share a mixed box, which had one beef(kefte) kabob in pita and one chicken kabob, in addition to some hummus. Honestly, how do they get the hummus that smooth? It was like eating a hummus cloud. Magic. Perhaps just a touch more lemon or garlic, but magic nonetheless. And the aforementioned meat in the box? Fantastic. Flavorful and tender, it reminded us of a take-away on the streets of Vienna(in the good way). The only complaint would be that the pita would be better if it were made in-house and warm, but… it’s Meat in a Box, not Pita in a Box. I can’t even say enough about the service. It might be primarily a take-away joint, but the staff were so helpful, you would have thought we had table service. I just regret it’s not closer to my house. But then, it’s probably good it isn’t – I’d have my Meat in a Box almost every day.

I could only walk past a place called«Meat in a Box» so many times before I stroll in. It suddenly appeared last week, and I finally ordered take-out for dinner today on my way home from work. Like I said, they opened lightning fast — they renovated the interior, which looks decently nice, if a bit strange. It has a new, extended bar-seating type area… and also a piano(?). When I was in, it was 95 degrees outside, and about 94 degrees inside — the air conditioning isn’t set up yet. So that was brutal. I ordered the beef skewers box — these boxes are probably the way to go. For 8 dollars, you get two substantial pita wraps. Lots of food! The beef was tasty, the veggies fresh, and the pita(obviously) good too. I really liked whatever the spicy green sauce is. They also have rice bowls, and wings and pizza too. I am curious how the pizza is, but I can’t imagine you would go into an Iranian-owned middle eastern-type restaurant and order pizza. Then again, where would you order pizza in DC and not be disappointed? Overall, this is a solid take-out place. I am interested to see how they’ll stack up with two imminently opening spots, Shwarma Spot and Mediterranean Spot, down the street. Considering the portion size to price ratio, tough to imagine these guys being beat.
