Don’t ever mix a Persian restaurant with anything else especially anything from the Pak/Indian subcontinent. Not appriciated.

Stopped by here for dinner one evening and my only recommendation is to never step foot here. The food was served cafeteria style and was unbearably salty. I couldn’t finish it. It was way too expensive for what it is($ 17 for rice and chicken served out of a ladle in front of me? Really?) The décor is garish at best and the service is non-existant. So just don’t go. And maybe it will close and we can get something better.

Maybe 1.5 stars max. 3 small pieces of chicken on the bone with 1 naan and 3 – 4 pieces of broccoli for $ 11. Everything tasted rather mediocre. The owners seemed very nice, but that does not help the place. Bottom line — I am not going back.

There is something off about this place. The décor is tawdry, and the overall experience feels inauthentic. I have eaten here twice, once in February of this year and another time last weekend. Both times I ate the worst naan bread I have ever had. I’m convinced it was prepackaged, as it had none of the chewy and crispy elements typical of naan. It was more similar to a pita one would find at a Greek restaurant. The lamb kebab tasted fine but was super tough and overcooked. The salad was not particularly fresh and had a nondescript dressing. When I went in, I was given a menu with certain prices on it. Before ordering, I inquired about a certain entrée, only to find out that on a Sunday all of the prices would be higher. I politely asked for the correct menu, but it did not exist. What was ordinarily $ 10 would be $ 12, I was told. Of course, when the bill came, the entrée was actually $ 12.99, a typical sales tactic that I had anticipated. Though they sensed my frustration and provided a complementary side of ground beef with peas, the overall dining experience left something to be desired. In DC, there are dozens of better alternatives.

Some of the best food I have had! The owner greeted us and offered to have a taste of the day’s 3 specials. Each was excellent(butter chicken, curry potatoes, ground beef). My girlfriend and I shared an entrée which came with rice and salad. The owner made sure that we were satisfied with the rice he served and even offered to get us more at the end of the meal. I almost passed this place by, due to the few reviews I saw on here. Really, this place made my day!

This was decent. Not amazing. Plus for hours. Minus for weird décor. I had the lamb curry, which was legit. The owners were really nice!

This place has gotten better and better everytime I go back. And I go back every thursday for the delicious Butter Chicken. Good food, clean, and friendly service. What more can you ask for?

The food was edible but unimpressive. The kabobs were flavorful, but not sufficiently tender. The curried side dishes were lukewarm and lacking in pizzaz.

Friendly service and great food. I only go down to D.C. twice a week and eat here at least once every week. The portions are healthy, hot, and quite tasty.

So I’ve been here three times now and each time the dish I order is tastier and fantastic! The first time I got the chicken(boneless) and it was juicy and so flavorful. 2nd time got the lamb, a bit spicy, soft and tender and delicious. 3rd time I got the veggie option and ordered the creamed spinach, chick peas, and hummus and OMG the spinach is AMAZING! So flavorful and really really good! The chick peas are also delicious. My FAVORITE thing about King of Kabob is not only is the service really friendly and they make you feel like you are at home is their bread(naan) they make it to order and it comes out soft, warm and so fluffy! I literally could eat that naan bread and hummus all damn day! sooo soo good! So not only is this establishment serving great Afghan food and very friendly they are open 24 – 7. So when you leave one of the clubs near by stop in and get a kabob dinner before u go home! I know I will continue going and taking my friends and family here.

$ 9.99 lunch special. Three small pieces of chicken, three small pieces of lamb in some greasy gravy. Salad, literally consists of three small pieces of iceberg lettuce, a chunk of tomato and two pieces of onion, which some day old naan. First time and last time I go to this place. Very disappointing.

Wow, this was honestly the worst food I’ve had in a long time. Décor looks just like Josephine’s next door, but a group of us ate in an empty restaurant and the food was bad. The meat had weird textures, the rice flavor wasn’t great, and the hummus was an abomination — very soupy and over-peppered. The«salad» is iceberg lettuce, tasteless tomatoes, and some white onions. And our plates were not the cleanest. Their prices are a little high for the average DC lunch menu, but the quality of food was so bad I will never be going here again.

Let me be clear. I’ve eaten at some pretty shady kabob places, not just around here but in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, you name it, and I can honestly say, this was probably the nastiest meat I’ve ever had in my life. I will be SHOCKED if I’m not sick after eating that food. Everything was terrible. Worst meal I’ve had in years.

3.5 Stars Here New dining spot for Vermont Avenue specializing in several different cuisine’s(Indian, Iranian, Pakistani, etc). No servers here, you get in line to pick your order from the menu listed above you. Line is slow due to cashier. Their only bottled drinks: Water(Deer Park), Sprite, Diet Coke or Coke Zero. The three later come in some pretty cool looking bottles(mini aluminum). Pepsi(fountain) didn’t taste normal, kinda metalish. Bread took very long to get out, pretty tasty, no complaints. Had the butter chicken, decent chicken and sauce. Rice was plain. Salad is decent. You get a pretty good quantity. They take credit cards. Their décor is nice(imo), nice tufted booth seats. The tables are constantly cleaned. You don’t pick up after yourself and you take your food to your table. Nice lighting, you can tell they paid attention to a lot of design details, you may not like the décor, but they worked pretty hard on it. The woman working the line was nice enough and checked on my group if we were okay(they’d forgotten to give us our bread… after asking for it 3 times). I appreciated the follow up. Give this place a try, granted they are still working out the kinks, it’s going to be added to my monthly lunch routine.

Just ate here! Great customer service, nice comfortable atmosphere, and most of all good food. I had the lamb kabob which, was recommended by the cook. When my number was called she wouldn’t let me leave without the chickpeas. I’m glad she hadn’t because they were awesome and so was the lamb. Highly recommend if you’re looking to try something new.
