The soda fountain does not have a spout for tap water. If you ask for it, they fill a plastic cup up from a sink in the back. This is a deal breaker when several other subways in the area offer self-serve tap water.

I used to visit this Subway pretty frequently — they are usually very friendly and they always had all the ingredients. That being said, i was very disappointed when i visited one day with my boss, and i guess they were closing early but i did not see any signs. I only realized it when we started to eat our sandwiches, and they shut off the lights and began mopping around ur feet. We work in the service industry as well so just letting us know they were closing early would have been enough, we would have taken our sandwiches to go. But rather, i think that what they did was really unacceptable — no apology or anything after we asked them why they did not tell us they were closing. Perhaps this is a one off because like i said service is normally very good. I imagine the manager was not there this particular day. But staff should be trained a bit better on customer service.

This is the friendliest Subway in the DC-area based on my experience. My first year of work I literally went here every day, five days a week and got the exact same sandwich — wheat bread with turkey, bacon, american cheese with some spinach leaves, tomatoes and onions — DELICIOUS! I love Subway because it is cheap, reasonably priced and convenient. The longest I have waited in line here before getting to the ordering section is maybe 3 minutes if that. And, the people here are so friendly — every server and the cashier are smiling and ask about your day and remember you. I too have caught them off-guard when I ordered something different. After a year of eating the exact same sandwich everyday you can grow tired of it and I have since expanded where I eat lunch. But I still recommend it as a friendly, tasty place. I also come in to get a breakfast sandwich sometimes, which I have found to be delicious. You feel healthier getting one here than at McDonald’s since you can get it on wheat bread and add in tomatoes.

Subway is subway. The exact same mediocre sandwich and unripe vegetables at every location. My only real complain is that it’s insanely drafty when the door was opened

I’m surprised there’s no listing for this location in Unilocal, because there’s always a long line when I go, and it’s barely down the street from Metro Center station. It’s also next to Cort Furniture. I believe this location changed management about a year ago. Even though the line is always long, the staff always tries to move it very quickly, sometimes a little too quickly. I had to tell one of the guys to take a deep breath and wait for the customer to tell him what he/she wants. The cashier, who is probably the manager, is always friendly, and knows her regulars. Once in a while I catch her off guard when I break away from my usual turkey sandwich and opt for the roast beef. When you don’t feel like stopping at McDonalds, which is on the same street as my building, nor feel like a $ 10 lunch at Cosi, then Subway is the place to be. :)
