Most of the stuff I thought about this place when I stopped by has already been said: came because of good reviews, unassuming storefront, easy to miss if you’re not specifically looking for this place, very minimal décor, good value. I haven’t read all the reviews, but there are a few other things I can emphasize. The first is that they have free wifi! I’m here on business and it’s good I can sit around before my meeting without eating up my phone data(Starbucks across the street is another option, I guess, but anyway it’s a good thing). The second is that the staff are very nice, particularly the lady who makes the sandwiches. The third is that, unfortunately, place looks dirty. Tables have crumbs all over, there are empty and unpacked boxes of juices and cans everywhere. Things look like they have not been put away. In sum, I would’ve given this place two stars but I’m bumping it up just because of its good prices.

If you work near McPherson or Franklin Square and you’re looking for a simple sandwich for lunch, this is your place. Don’t expect to be wowed, however the prices are reasonable and the ingredients are quality. My go to sandwich is the Turkey Bacon Combo on sourdough bread.

Went here on a whim for lunch. Of course, I checked out its Unilocal reviews before I went in. I’ve yet to see it packed, which isn’t necessarily a good thing, but let’s get to the point. I ordered a steak and cheese and got a bag of chips, although I wanted fries(they don’t serve them). The sandwich took a few minutes to be prepared, but not too long. The steak tasted like as you’d expect from an inexpensive sandwich shop in DC. The best thing about this place is that it’s a relatively cheap and convenient option for lunch. You won’t be disappointed, but you won’t be wowed either.

Good no nonsense sandwich shop with reasonable price. Unassuming storefront — would have missed it if I wasn’t looking for it. Had Reuben which used quality corned beef but a bit thinly piled for my liking. Pretty good sized menu which is what you would expect at a decent deli. Eat in sandwich served on styrofoam which I hope they are phasing out. Drink selection in coolers was enormous so you can find anything for which you have a taste. Server behind the counter seemed pained but it was the end of the day. Interior has not been altered since the 80s I’m guessing. Didn’t see a recycling bin which given drinks served in bottles and cans feels necessary. Overall solid and i would come back but I’m not going out of my way or taking an out of town guest here as a place they gotta go. Good value for the price in the city.

The sandwich was fine and at an OK price, but I got a «Tuna and Avocado» sandwich, and there was no avocado in it. at all. I’ll chalk it up to them just being incredibly busy during the lunch hour, but still, I was pretty disappointed.

Excellent local deli. They cut the meat right in front of you and the serving sizes aren’t for the faint of heart. Will make this a weekly routine!

It is fine, convenient, and reasonably priced, but I’m not sure how it gets so many five-star reviews. The Italian Sub I had was good, but nothing special.

Great place for a quick lunch. Standard sandwich shop. I think this place is getting nearly 5 stars for the $$/Value proposition but would be hard to argue that the sandwiches are the best in DC. Still, I think the sandwiches are competitive in DC.

Best sandwiches in DC. The food is great, always comes at a fantastic price($ 5), awesome food and sides selection, and the staff is very nice. These sandwiches could easily go for $ 8-$ 10 but the owner seems like a very nice and modest man that truly seems to enjoy what he’s doing, as opposed to just looking to squeeze a buck out of everyone that steps through the doors. To put into perspective, I walked in last week and smelled something amazing. The owner saw me looking around the counters for what it could be and before I even said anything, he already had a sample of the daily soup for me to try. Go here, you will absolutely not regret it!!!

Ah, how is it that I am the duchess but haven’t yet written a review for Steven’s? Okay. Here’s the lowdown. I am a huge fan of the Italian cold cut sub. And the chicken club. And would probably be a fan of a lot more if I were willing to try something other than what I know I like… The food is inexpensive(especially compared to neighboring lunch spots around the area), and the sandwiches are really great in terms of quality and flavor. I also come occasionally in the mornings for a bagel with cream cheese. $ 2 for a quick breakfast. Speaking of $ 2, there is a $ 10 minimum for credit cards so be sure to bring some cash, unless you want to grab a soda or chips with your lunch. Or breakfast. No judgment here. While the food is fresh and cheap, I have to say that one extra bonus is the friendly staff. The owner(I don’t actually know his name – I will have to update once I figure it out) is super friendly, and I guess I can see why some say he’s being flirty. But, no, he is just a really nice man. Speak to him in Korean for brownie points(no, you don’t get a free brownie.)

Stevens Sandwich Shoppe is a nondescript sandwich shop that is worth checking out. The quality of the sandwiches are always top-notch and super flavorful. The staff are all super friendly too. My favorite sandwiches are the Tuna Avocado(toasted) and the New Yorker(toasted). Reasonable prices and hardly any wait. ALSO they have a good selection of donuts(glazed, apple fritter, and chocolate frosted) every morning.

Great little sandwich shop. It’s got everything you need for lunch and a great selection of drinks and chips. The staff is always friendly and Steven himself is always very welcoming. The Roast Beef and Turkey Club is great!

Great sandwich. Neat clean lil sandwich shop in downtown DC. I must say, it was most definitely worth the walk from my job. I tried the Marinated Chicken Club on sourdough based on a fellow Unilocaler’s pic and it did no disappoint! The flavor is fantastic!

This deli uses Boar’s Head meats and condiments. The chicken steak and cheese sub was really good. Filling, but not too fatty or greasy. There wasn’t much to the sandwich, but it was very well put together. Quickly! Toppings included: grilled onions, peppers, tomatoes and melted cheese. Just enough of all the right fresh veggies. It was like a sandwich ON bread. In fact, once it gets cold, it makes for a good leafy green salad. I ate the whole thing, which is rare for me. On the days that I don’t brown-bag it, this will definitely be on my lunchtime radar.

Wow, this has to be one of the best sandwiches I have ever had… and I’ve lived in NYC. It was so simple but also busting in flavor. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich, per the other reviews, and got in on sourdough. Amazing! It only came with melted cheddar, lettuce, and tomatoes, but that’s all it needed. They have a great selection of chip and drinks as well. Next time I’m in town, I’m definitely trying Steven’s for breakfast. One weird thing about my sandwich. I wasn’t able to finish it so I wrapped it in tinfoil to take home. After walking around for a few hours I got hungry and grabbed it out. It actually tasted so much better when squished and mushy. I think it was the soft bread that made it! Like the other reviewers said, the owner/cashier is super friendly. I mistook it for creepy at first but then realize that it’s better to have someone smiling and flirting than someone who’s miserable.

Best breakfast sandwich(bacon, egg, cheese muffin) in the area, hands down! This place is a little off-putting at first due to it’s décor, but please look past it. You will not be sorry. The staff is very friendly and the food is pretty solid. I used to trek off to Corner Bakery for their uptown turkey until I read tried Steven’s Turkey Bacon Combo. Same sandwich, better ingredients, local establishment, and cheaper! Also noteworthy is their Ham Delight. Traditional ham and swiss, grilled with pineapple and served on a toasted sub roll. So good!

Yep, it’s a sandwich shop. There’s really nothing to note about this place. I suppose that is probably due in large part to me not being a particular fan of sandwiches. I had the egg salad on sourdough and it was alright. Nothing crave-worthy. The selection of chips and drinks is so-so. The service and staff, though, are definitely great. And there’s free wifi, which is a nice bonus.
