Very friendly here. Great burgers & spirit selection and it’s a great vibe sitting here.

Originally enticed by half-price draft craft beers and $ 5 snacks for happy hour, I’ve become a fan of the regular menu as well. TB has an array of creatively-named burgers, outmatched only by the creative combinations of quality ingredients that accompany each perfectly-grilled patty. With everything from bison to boar to seared ahi as proteins, and toppings like brie, pineapple salsa, and various remoulades, there’s definitely a burger for everyone. My personal recommendations include the Ventura Highway and the O Fortuna — not to be missed.

Absolutely delicious! The end! I work in Georgetown and I went here for lunch with my co-worker. I ordered the jerk shrimp appetizer and let me just say it was perfection. Definitely not what I would consider super hot as far as spicy but so well seasoned. I also ordered some kinda burger that was on the specials menu, the name of the burger escapes me but again, perfection! Amazing! They seem to have a burger for anyone’s taste, if you don’t like to be adventurous then you can order a regular olé, garden variety burger or you can choose from several of their exotic burger offerings… On my bucket list is to eventually try them all! :)

I went in on a Sunday during brunch hours and the service was terrible. For starters, we waited 20 minutes for the waiter to come and introduce herself. Our drinking cups had lipstick marks all over the rim of the glass. And we had no silverware until halfway into the meal. The food itself is not anything to rave about. There are some interesting things on the menu like elk burger, veal burger, bison burger, etc. I had a regular burger and I wasn’t impressed. The meat was cooked medium, just how I like it but it was bland and flavorless. My boyfriend had the elk and it was gamey as expected but again, nothing about screamed«come back for more!» The fries were just okay. I can’t speak on the décor since we sat at the bar area. I would not return to this place. I think the lipstick smudges on my drinking glass was enough to taint the entire experience for me. Also, the food not not blow my socks off.

These stars go to the ribs :) they were that good that the second night we went back for them. And we never do that. LIKE ever. But… they have fruit flies… I mean they wont leave your beer alone if u dont take care of it and that was our first time here… we had one Drosophila coming out of the salad under the ribs the second time we were here… Very unfortunate… a suggestion: They are very much attracted to alcohol and sugar. And they enter the 70% or even less alcohol and next thing they are dead.

Overall: Solid burgers, tantalizing add-ons, interesting meat options. Perfectly cooked, if overpriced. Adventurous décor. Think outer space hunting lodge in dark colors. I ordered a basic Thunder burger($ 14, a little pricey, but sigh, this is DC in 2015, so…) with $ 2 Sharp cheddar and free lettuce, tomatoes, onion relish, sautéed mushrooms and remoulade, cooked medium rare. The number(and quality) of add-ons available is impressive, as is the variety of meat. My friend ordered a boar burger. You can also get Kobe beef, bison and falafel. The burger had great flavor. It was cooked perfectly, the sharp cheese popped and the relish added a wonderful sweet/tart flavor. The fries were crispy with nicely-flavored ketchup. The burger also came with gherkins, which is a nice touch, and a plate of sliced pickles as a free appetizer. Very friendly staff. Called one person in our party«brother». This restaurant has a hip hunting lodge interior theme. Or something. There’s a room with mossy walls in the back. Our dining area was a private nook with a large chandelier, a gilded mirror and a metal deer’s head. Also, there was a griffin painted on the wall with 3D wings.

I had Thunder burger with grilled mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. The burger costs $ 14 that comes with French fries, and you can substitute French fries with sweet potatoes or green salad for $ 2. So, how does the burger taste at the end? Just Okay. The meat was indeed juicy and tasted fine, but the bread wasn’t fresh at all and this affected the overall taste. While I liked the vibrant atmosphere of this place, I’m not impressed by the food. I had a higher expectation considering the price I paid for a burger.

Pretty good place. The atmosphere is great when you walk in. Modern looking bar and a variety of booth/bar seating. I ate at the bar and had the thunder burger with jalapeños and red peppers. The burger and fries were excellent. I gave 3 stars because the Bloody Mary I ordered was below average. But they did have a variety of beer in draft and a full liquor selection, so you can probably find a drink you like.

Read this informative article before going. The menu states«Kobe» beef, but in fact it’s not authentic to the Japanese beef we all think we’re getting at Thunder Burger. Call the restaurant and ask for the origin of the beef and they will say Idaho. I don’t doubt the tastiness of the burger, but you’re biting into something you could easily get somewhere else at a more affordable price. A genuine Kobe burger costs in the range of $ 50.

Good bar with great beer selection. I was told I should get the«big pimpin» burger. Did that. $ 28 kobe burger with morbier, foie gras and remoulade. This burger had all the components to be amazing, but it was just good. Nice slice of Morbier, but very lacking on the foie, only two very small trimmings on top. Remoulade was tasty, but balsamic overwhelmed, could have eased back on this a bit. Bun was too bready and thick for this burger as well. For a burger like this, it should be all about the inside. Fries were standard, nothing special. Basic ketchup served on the side. Again, It’s a good bar, but an almost $ 30 burger should be seriously badass, not just good.

Thunder burger and their big juicy bison burger! So good! A little too juicy as my whole burger fell apart while I was eating it but some people like that. The presentation is nice as they give you the little cup of fries to the side and a cute baby pickle too. The location is right off M street in Georgetown. Good spot. Inside is a little dark. Like a castle type décor. It’s nice and romantic. The seating is close to your neighbor tho so don’t go there to have serious conversations or break up with your significant other. Service was quick and attentive. And the bathrooms are upstairs. Not labeled they have designs on the door but the pink is girls and the other is boys. You have more privacy in there than at your table.

I was pretty underwhelmed with Thunder Burger. Honestly, the best thing was the lemonade. I wasn’t sure if they would actually have real lemonade at such an establishment, but they did(it was a hot and sticky day so lemonade just sounded good). I came in and had a seat at the bar. The bartenders were friendly, the décor was hip. I definitely liked the look of the place. The menu is a bit overwhelming in terms of the burger options, I will give them that. I decided to make my own Thunder Burger. I ordered the burger medium with the toppings of pepperjack cheese, jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. I also ordered sweet potato fries. When the burger came out, I was really shocked how small it was. It would probably fit in the palm of my hand and I have tiny hands. So I would say the beef patty is maybe 3.5 to 4 oz-ish. The bun is really good, kind of fluffy almost without being soggy. Now the meat was damn near mooing at me. I suggest not ordered a rare burger unless you want raw hamburger, if that’s how«medium» is cooked at this establishment. The meat was also extremely fatty and was dripping which was a bit unappetizing. They left off the tomato and the amount of jalapenos was laughable. The lettuce was browning. They definitely need to step up the toppings. I also was brought five or so sauces in cups and was never told what anything was. I didn’t order any of it so I have no clue. The sweet potato fries were good but they are just standard frozen in a bag type of fries.

This place was recommended by a friend. So glad we listened! For all you out-of-towners like myself, its easily accessible and walking distance from a lot of the hotels in the area. Thunder Burger is an upscale burger spot and the menu, décor, and atmosphere reflect that. Although they’re known for their burgers, there were a good amount of other sandwich and entrée options. I made my own burger combo w/bacon, pepper jack, and bbq sauce. So good! I had the sweet potato fries as my side and personally liked them better than the regular ones. I was also a big fan of the ginger aioli served with them. Others at our table had the pig in a cow suit burger, crabcake sliders, and fish & chips. Everyone seemed happy with their choices.

I am a fan of Thunder Burger & Bar. A good burger spot is hard to come by in DC, and I think Thunder Burger somewhat fills that void. They have a long list of different burgers, and also list all of their toppings allowing you to build your own burger. I built my own burger and ordered the sweet potato fries which were delicious. The burger was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. Only problem I had was that with just adding 3 toppings my burger came out to $ 18– a little more than I would like to spend on a burger. Most burgers on their list are in the $ 15-$ 19 range, I would like to see their prices come down around 15% but I guess they are unique for the neighborhood and seem to stay busy. I would recommend Thunder Burger & Bar if you are craving a delicious burger, but it is definitely not a place to come if you are just looking for a quick cheap meal.

Since Thunder Burger has«BURGER» in the name, I went into the restaurant with high hopes for a really good burger. When I saw the prices($ 14 for a burger, but more if you want cheese, etc.), I figured it’d definitely be the thick, juicy burger I was hoping for. But…meh. I found the burger to be thinner and overcooked for medium. Fries were cold. I did like the wide variety of toppings available(many for free). I stumbled when picking out sauces, so the server just gave me 4 different ones on the side, and all were delicious. Overall, it was a fine meal, but the burger was about as good as I could get in any other American restaurant… and that’s not good enough for a pricey place that’s supposed to be all about burgers.

one of the better burgers in georgetown. Fun selection of toppings included. I sprung for the Caesar and it was HUGE for a «side» portion, and was pretty tasty even though there were too many croutons. Burger was juicy, medium was more like medium well, should have gone for medium rare to get a better true medium. Fries were well seasoned but seemed to have been frozen, not fresh. I’d come back for a burger if I’m in a pinch again.

Juicy burgers. Came in with party of six. My daughter and three friends. Everyone ordered burgers of which the place is named and famous for. We got here during happy hour so we started with the $ 5 «bites» and half priced draughts for the adults The edamummus, half edamame and half hummus could be a nice cheap meal unto itself. Carrots celery cucumber chips and pita surrounding a bowl of mushed edamame. We also go fried mushrooms which, while not as health, were well received by my daughter’s friends. The burgers all came out quickly and presented beautifully. There is no elegant way to eat a thunder burger though. They are big and very very juicy. They are as good as they are expensive at $ 15 a piece plus a dollar for cheese or $ 2 to substitute the fries which in my case was a big house salad and well worth it. My tip however is get the sliders during happy hour for $ 5 for two and give those to your teens. This group i was with were not hungry and much of the burgers got bagged or trashed. What we did bring home should feed us for another meal. I’m saying 3 stars because of the cost. But it is G’town.

Roaming through Georgetown on a Friday night, looking for a spot to grab a burger and drain some beers — Thunder Burger & Bar was it. A nice ambiance, friendly bartender and good selection of brews made TB&B the right choice. I took a seat at the bar and relaxed for the next hour or so. I ordered a «Learning to Fly» burger — $ 13(herbed ground turkey burger, swiss cheese, avocado, granny smith apples & remoulade). BEST turkey burger I’ve ever had!!! Yep, best ever! Wow!!! What a great Friday evening at TB&B — great beer, friendly and efficient service and killer food! 4.5 stars — can’t wait to return for another«Learning to Fly!»

Had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon. I did not mind sitting at the bar as the beer selection looked interesting and the bartender was very helpful inn making a selection. Service was spot on even though the place got busy fast. There are a variety of burgers available here including game meats. I tried the elk burger, which came out slightly undercooked(I ordered medium and it was red, not pink). Still, the flavor was good and the burger was not so loaded with toppings that you lost the elk flavor. Fries were crisp and served in a little tin bucket.

First experience eating there and it was great! Our waiter was real polite and had a positive attitude. We ordered the regular burger sliders, falafel sliders, sweet potato fries, and beer flights(forgot which ones we ordered). The regular burger sliders were nothing special in my opinion(patty was cooked well, included American cheese, small piece of lettuce), but the falafel sliders were new to me. If you want to be daring and try something unique, I highly recommend the falafel sliders(contains chickpeas and yogurt sauce, not sure what else is in it). Décor in the place is kind of dark and gothic because of how the restaurant was furnished and how the walls were decorated. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ozzy Osbourne wanted to check this place out.
