Not sure where the«good» reviews are coming from. We were craving for some Mexican food and based on the Unilocal reviews picked this place. Ordered mostly seafood since the place is apparently«well known» for. A couple of our dishes used the same salsa was served with the chips. very bland and tasteless food. Cocktails from the bar — not even chilled, missing alcohol. Guacamole bowl, they forgot to add lemon juice, again very bland. Overall, very pricey and not worth it.

I was in town for the day and was looking for a good dinner spot. So glad I found this place. Appetizer Sampler all the way! Came on a Friday evening and the ambience was great. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you Jaliscos!

This place is probably one of the worst restaurant I have been to. There was nobody to take the order for 25 minutes after being seated. We ordered a table side guacamole, which wasn’t started until 45 minutes after the order was placed and couple of reminders about the same. We had to cancel it finally. The chips and salsa kept coming but that was all. Food was minimalistic. Service was horrible. We ordered fajitas and had to ask them twice to get the tortillas before the food went cold. The salmon was burnt and had no veggies with it. All in all, never again! Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Would give it 0 stars if it was possible on Unilocal

I gotta say this is the perfect place to go if you want real, authentic Mexican food. The food was exquisite and the best around here so far. Great customer service. will definitely recommend and will come back.

My favorite restaurant in watsonville, the food is delicious and always comes fast, my girlfriend and I always order the combination mix with seafood, steak and chicken and let me tell you, the meat is tender, shrimp are huge and everything tastes really good, it comes with rice and beans in separate plates so you can either make your own tacos or just eat it like that, it’s lots of food but good quality food, love the tortillas too… excellent service always.

Great Sunday lunch. The place is a bit dark(there is a patio outside I think) but has a very cool old Mexico feel with vaulted, hand painted ceiling. Drinks were really good and the bartender sent over freshly squeezed lime juice with beers, etc. the guacamole, prepared table side, was FANTASTIC! I’m a whimp so the spice level was good for me(I had the fajitas) but my sister thought a bit more spice was in order. The service was very fast and friendly and the prices fair. We will visit again for sure. A tip for parking, unless you drive a mini or a smart car stay out of the parking lot behind the building! There is a big roomy lot for jaliscos directly across Main Street that’s much easier!

No surprise… good Messican food in Watsonville! Very nice venue with lovely patio at back. Service very fast and friendly. Good basic food at very reasonable prices($ 40 for 2 including a cocktail for each and tip)! I’m always amazed these days whenever I get a meal for 2 under 50 bucks! Very extensive menu… I will be back!

Very authentic and tasty Mexican food and great ambiance. Restaurant was cleaned and maintained better than many that I’ve eaten in. Highly recommend the Champion’s omelette(menu spells this out in Spanish!). Though for a party of 11, service could have been better with a very long wait time on some dishes and some confusion with orders getting mixed up

Jalisco’s is a touristy place with a fun bar, good musicians(for a fee), and horrible food. The food is bland, lukewarm, and overpriced. Nothing has good Mexican flavor or spice. I took my mother here and she literally said it was the worst Mexican meal she has ever had. I’ve been at least 2 other times, and have always been disappointed. I’m not going again if I can help it. I think it’s a shame that this place charges so much and attracts so many visitors when there are many, many, DELICIOUS and authentic Mexican restaurants all over town that truly deserve the customers.

This restaurant has friendly staff, authentic Mexican dishes, huge portions, great prices and it’s dog-friendly. They have an extensive menu featuring breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner items. Their outdoor covered patio is beautiful, and reminds me of a garden. The staff is very friendly, and even brought my dog a bowl of water before serving anyone. As soon as you sit down they bring you chips with a small pitcher of salsa so you can refill your salsa bowl if you run out. I had the Omelete con Champiñones which was a large three-egg omelette stuffed with portabello mushrooms, zucchini, and pasilla chiles, topped with cheese. It was served with black beans, potatoes, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole and three tortillas. For $ 11 I was able to take home half for dinner. One of my friends had the Huevos con Chorizo, which was served with black beans, salsa, potatoes and three tortillas. My other friend had a Quesadilla de Jalisco with grilled chicken, which was topped with salsa, sour cream and salsa verde. It’s a bonus that they have 2 free parking lots, as parking can be difficult in this downtown area. We all agreed that we were impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. This is a great place to stop after a hike at Mt. Madonna or Bryne-Milliron Forest.

Quite excellent restaurant on Watsonville’s Main Street: good food; full bar; lively atmosphere. The food was well-prepared and both subtle yet flavorful. Equally good place to watch a game, have a romantic dinner or to take out the entire family. Almost as good as Perla del Pacifico just a block away.

When people ask me what my favorite Mexican restaurant is in Watsonville, I always respond that it’s Jalisco’s. Owner Stella Romo works hard to keep her dishes offered like no others in town. Fajitas are delicious, corn tortillas are fresh, guacamole is made fresh in front of you, enchiladas are excellent, but also have great seafood selections. My favorite seafood soups are Caldo de Camaron(shrimp soup) or Caldo Siete Mares(Mexican cioppino). On a hot day, love their tostadas of ceviche! When their is a live mariachi playing, you know you are truly in Watsonville! Their bartenders are always good with their margaritas, different flavored mojitos(try a mango mojito), prepared chavela beer(preparado) or a traditional Bloody Mary. I’ve suggested they do a unique drink menu of Latino specialty drinks that would keep locals & visitors alike to keep coming to try unique drinks offered no where else in the Monterey Bay. Only other area of improvement would be to add a good selection of local CA wines. I hear there are quite a few Latino wineries too that would add a nice touch to a place like Jalisco’s, like Alfaro’s, Mi Sueno, Ceja, Robledo wineries to name a few!

I was craving some good, authentic Mexican food and decided I would give Jalisco’s a try. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Even though the restaurant was pretty busy, my server was very courteous and attentive. The food was ok, but didn’t have that«wow» factor. I ordered the steak rancheros and it was decent but the refried beans were bland. The Pupusas were an epic fail; they were burnt on the bottom and tasted scorched. I don’t understand why restaurants burn/overcook your food and then have the audacity to serve it to you, that’s just disrespectful! The server did not charge me for the burnt Pupusas, was very apologetic and offered to bring me fresh Pupusas but I declined. I must admit that the bean dip, salsa and chips were really good. In fact, they were the highlight of my meal at Jalisco’s. My overall experience at Jalisco’s was good and I will definitely be back, even if it’s just for the chips and bean dip.

It took us 30 minutes to get a table, 20 minutes to get our order taken, 15 minutes to get our drinks, 40 minutes to get our food, and we had to go hunt down someone for the check after 20 minutes of waiting. Overall, it was a pretty terrible experience for so-so food. Won’t be recommending or coming here again. The hostess was unfriendly and rude when we tried to ask for assistance.

Very highly recommended! Easily the best Mexican food on the Central Coast! Everything is prepared fresh, and with a consistent attention to detail here. The service is excellent, and it’s readily apparent that the staff takes great pride in what they do. The seafood specials are amazing – try the char-grilled salmon! The corn tortillas are fresh and delicious, and the guacamole is not to be missed! From my other reviews, you can surmise that I frequent Mexican food establishments, with varying levels of enjoyment. For Jalisco, I have no problem driving 25 – 30 minutes to get here, and I will keep going back.

Meh. I’ve experienced better. The architectural character and historical significance of the building is the best thing I can say about this restaurant. If you enjoy very Americanized Mexican food and loud, roaming Mariachis, this is the place for you. Since I tend to judge Mexican restaurants by their mole, I ordered the Pechuga de Pollo con Mole($ 14.95): a full chicken breast simmered in a blend of red chile sauce, clove, garlic, cinnamon and tomatoes. It was very, very good but that’s about where it ends. Service was clunky and slow and prices are a little high for what you get. The bar is beautiful and a great place to have a drink with friends but the restaurant’s location is not in the best part of town, plus the fact that the parking lot is across the street –a very bust street I might add– would be one reason I’d have second thoughts about going back, especially at night.
