The only redeeming aspect of this deli is the staff. The food is over priced. The portions are small. The food is just meh. Not worth it!

Don’t go for a late Saturday lunch. First time they had no chicken we thought it was odd. Second time with friends it was irritating. «Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice…» I won’t be back. On the positive(?) side Webster needs a downtown sandwich store so I’m sure they’ll stay in business.

Very good sandwichs and chips! My order was late in being delivered and they gave me all my food for free. 5 stars

Found this place on Unilocal and wanted a simple sandwich, which is exactly what we got. Nothing more. Nothing less. This place was a Jimmy John’s and you can tell. They haven’t added their own touches to it at all, they’ve just added their own workers and food. This isn’t a bad thing because at least if they close they won’t lose their butts on money dropped into renovating it. They atmosphere pieces they did add is supposed to be the hipster vintage look. There is a small patio outside and inside there is bar seating at the windows with booths and high top tables to chose from inside. We were greeted by a young lady and we ordered from the menu. I got a turkey club on pretzel and hubs got the Italian sandwich. Good, but not great. The best thing was the kettle good garlic & Parmesan chips. We both thought it was just a run of the mill deli. We were sad for this because we like eating at locally owned places. I think they could kick it up a notch adding some of their own personalized dressings to the sandwiches and taking more of the JJ atmosphere out of it. Maybe some desserts and different drinks rather than the regular fountain sodas. One good thing is we noticed they deliver, so that’s good for those who live around it as it is a small college town.

These folks are nice, the food is good, and the price is right. It’s a nice little lunch spot. Their salads are huge and very filling. I find them to be the right proportion of lettuce to toppings. The South Sider sub is really tasty too, although it could use something a little wetter on the bread. They deliver, too, and have a student discount. They try to source local ingredients when possible, if that’s important to you.

A friend said Provalo’s was a must-try spot when in St. Louis. I ordered and noticed some decent books on the shelf. Grabbed a Ralph Steadman art book, but didnt have time to read it before the food came out. The portion size was perfect, and the chicken on the sandwich was ultra lean. Pretzel buns, 5 brands of chips(that’s BRANDS, not types), fountain and bottled drinks(including Caprisuns); I will definitely be driving out of my way to come back here next time I’m in St. Louis.

Got the hot salami, italiano sub, & the hummus with pita. It was all so good! Driving through Webster trying to find a delicious & stumbled upon this little gem. On the window it says free delivery as well! Definitely coming back

High prices for just a basic deli. I was not impressed by my sandwich and they do not have gluten free options(bummer for the friend I was with). On the plus side: I like that they have a wall that says where their local ingredients are from.

I’ve been here a number of times and would say this place has the best sandwiches that you’re going to find in Webster Groves. The quality is good with fresh tasting ingredients and the staff is friendly. This place costs more than Subway so don’t go in there expecting a $ 5 footlong but you’ll see why it’s more when you have your first bite.

Got delivery from here last night for dinner.(thanks GrubHub!!) I ordered the chicken caesar salad and my boyfriend got another salad. We split the turkey club wrap. Everything tasted pretty good and they sent some delicious cookies along. It took awhile for it to get here but it was worth the wait.

I’d like to be polite and give 3 stars but my 4 year old niece could make a better sandwich. SO boring. Special sauces were not so special. Ambiance was lame. Staff was unmemorable. The whole thing was downright forgettable. Hopefully we don’t forget we’ve come here and make the mistake of coming again.

The hummus wrap was good, simple, but good. The service left a lot to be desired. I was the only customer in the place and no one said«hello.» I had to say«excuse me» and felt as though I was bothering the people that worked there. bummer

Bottom Line: Simple spot to have lunch in this old shopping section of Webster Groves. But you’re going to pay for it. This deli is a retooled Jimmy-John’s. Food: Unfortunately, it has been some time since I visited this deli, however, I felt compelled to come back to Unilocal and let folks know about how generally disappointing this place was for me and my buddy. I recall getting a pretzel bun sandwich of some sort. The sandwich was quite small. It was good, for sure. However, I was looking for a lunch that would not leave me looking for another, and this really left me hanging, hunger-wise. Decent(Zapp’s) chips selection, soda selection that makes me yawn, and high prices make me doubt I will ever return. With the«Groupon”-style deal, we still paid about $ 10 for two sandwiches, chips, and drink on top of the $ 15 voucher. Summary: If you are looking to try some place new, steer clear of Provalo Deli, unless you have a small stomach, small appetite, and a large pocketbook. Note: As I mentioned, it has been some time since I visited. I wish Unilocal would let you know when you checked-in here. It would be nice to know.

Provalo(means«try it» in Italian) is one of the cutest sandwich shops I’ve ever been to. It’s got that contemporary but cozy feel; It offers a good selection of sandwiches including some original creations that look pretty mouth-watering. I noticed that they stocked Billy Goat Chips, too. Brownie(or should I say deli?) points for supporting local business. I went with the Special of the Day: buffalo chicken sandwich. I watched the delicatessen specialist make my sandwich; he was fast and sufficient with laying on all the meat, sauce, and cheese. Even the wrapping was neat. It’s somewhat of a small detail, but I know Subway doesn’t give that much TLC to a sandwich ;) It was a little smaller than what I’m used to but still filling. And, jeez. That hot sauce was HAWT! My lips still tingle, and that was 10 minutes ago. Overall, great experience. I’ll definitely come back for another sandwich.

I am in love with this place! I only get to go to St. Louis once or twice a year and this deli is now a MUSTHAVE food when I visit. I’ve had a number of items off their menu and each continually exceeds my expectations! The menu was definitely designed by someone who loves sandwiches as much as I do! And that is saying a lot! The pretzel bread is to die for so anything you put inside it will be amazing. Last time I went I ordered the Provalo Ham and was not disappointed. It was warm, fresh, and flavorful! It also comes with a pickle spear on the side! Roasted Red Pepper and Gouda soup? Yes, please! I could go on for days about that party in my mouth that was started by their chicken caesar salad sandwich on GARLICBREAD! Its a special so it only comes around occasionally, but keep your eyes peeled because it is phenomenal. Easily the best sandwich shop I’ve been to and they have wraps and flat bread pizzas(yum!) as well! Staff is friendly and quick. Do NOT miss this place.

The layout inside reminds me of a Jimmy John’s. I had the Provalo Dip — 7″ French bread filled with juicy roast beef and(I think) swiss cheese served with a side of au jus($ 7). See photo. My husband had the Provalo Pretzel with a cup of chili. The pretzel($ 6) is a round sandwich with a pretzel bun about the size of a large burger bun, filled well with ham and cheese. The cup of chili was standard/good($ 4). My husband commented that this«was a real pretzel sandwich with a bun that tasted like pretzel and a sandwich full of ham and cheese,» in comparison with a recent disappointment with the pretzel sandwich at Fozzy’s. Both sandwiches came with a pickle spear. We really liked our sandwiches but felt the prices were high. $ 4 for a small cup of tastes-like-most chili was asking a little too much! And $ 7 for my 7″ dip, which was just meat/bread/cheese was on the high side as well, compared to other successful sandwich spots in the area that we like.

Delis are funny. I mean when you think about it you have three variables 1) Bread, 2) Meat/Cheese and 3) toppings. SO how did Provalo stack up? Fair. Service was great and friendly. Variety of offerings was excellent. Bread… arghh. I love a nice soft chewy bread. Best sandwich i ever had was on a braided sesame bread(aka a Scali Roll) so I would say some room for improvement here(wraps are a nice option but i want a deli sandwich which is meant to be on some thick bread). Meat and cheese? I think Boar’s Head kinda carries the banner for good meats and cheeses. I don’t think Provalo is using that brand(I am willing to pay a higher price point for quality). Toppings/Spreads. Here is where i think Provalo is showing some quality. Nice fresh veggies and a real flavorful pesto spread. So thumbs up there! Best part is I can cycle to Provalo from home in Kirkwood(and feel like i earned a small portion of the sandwich: p) I’d suggest you give them a shot as they are as good as any other Deli I have encountered in St. Louis and better than some!

You know, with all of the gooey butter cake milkshakes, frozen yogurt, and cupcakes I’ve been eating lately, I can’t even pretend to be surprised at the fact that I have to do lunges in my jeans in order to zip them up. Okay, I’m kidding. Kind of. Anyway, my latest button popping venture sent me to Provalo Deli in Webster Groves. The place is super cute. It has that lofty feel that I’m a huge fan of. High ceilings, brick… all that jazz. I ordered the Provalo Pretzel sandwich; ham and swiss cheese on a pretzel bun. Oh yum. I also ordered some cinnamon sugar pretzel bites for good measure. My sandwich was pretty awesome. I attribute most of the awesomeness to the chewy pretzel bread. SO good. The cinnamon sugar pretzel bites were my favorite. They came with an icing dipping sauce. The bites themselves tasted like little french toast bites. SO good. Service was friendly and fast. I’ll be back soon, I’m sure.
