OFFTHECHAIN!!! Phenomenal fried chicken. If you are in Rochester/Webster, NY this place is a must. I don’t normally write Unilocal reviews but this food was so good, I was compelled to write a review. Please try the green beans, they are the best green beans I ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, flavorful and juicy. Whenever I am in the area I will make it a priority to make my way over to get some chicken. As a side note the corn bread was excellent. WOW!

Fried Chicken was delicious, Ribs were good but not excellent, homemade potato chips were very tasty. The Staff was very friendly. We high recommend this neighborhood take out place.

First, a couple of administrative points: (1) As other posters have said, the staff here makes the food when you order it. That means a 25 – 30 minute wait if you do so. And the waiting area /dining room is tiny and not air conditioned. That makes for a long and not comfortable wait. Do yourself a favor and call ahead — it will be there waiting for you. (2) Also as others have said, the dining area is tiny, with maybe three tables. You should have a plan to take the food elsewhere in case the tables are taken. Now about the food. The chicken was pretty good, with a lot of paprika used to give the chicken a golden color. The mashed potatoes and the macaroni and cheese were also pretty good. The corn muffins were very good. So why not a higher rating? The food is good but not great. The prices are a bit high. A fried chicken meal for one is about $ 12, and a meal for two is $ 25. Not horrible, but for that kind of money you expect to be really impressed. The food is decent but is not worth a long drive for. I do recognize, however, the challenge in finding good fried chicken in Western NY, and they try. The service was fast and friendly. I just wish that the chicken would be as good as that you find in the South or in PA Dutch country.

The chicken & wings were great. The home made chips could easily become addictive. Just a word of warning-call ahead because they really do cook to order and there is limited space to wait. Definitely outdoes any chain chicken place and worth the extra couple of miles drive.

Best fried chicken in Rochester. We travel 25 min(barefoot, uphill, both ways) for this chicken at least once a month. YUM

The wings were yummy and so were the sides! They were pretty slow getting our order ready though, and had to wait a fair amount longer than they told us for the pick up time. One thing I found different(odd?) was that none of the wings came with sauce on them. I placed on order for 6 people and it would have been much easier to order if I knew that ahead of time; I would have ordered X amount of wings and asked for certain sauces since they give you the sauces on the side anyways. The wings are yummy but if you order them with sauce, why not toss them or coat them in the sauce? Just a thought but won’t keep us from going back!

I feel like the worst human being in the world for not singing the praises of BCs earlier. I’ve been here many times, and each experience goes the same exact way. Each visit starts with intense anticipation, and a feeling that can only be described as a Pavlovian response to the thought of biting into the crunchy, juicy deliciousness that is a piece of BC’s fried chicken. From there, the only feeling is one of euphoria. I’ve wised up in recent visits and started calling in my order ahead of time so that it is ready when I arrived(make sure this is 20 – 30 minutes before you arrive). This shortens your state of anticipation and restricts the amount of drool you’ll have to clean up when your food arrives. I can’t say much about the chicken itself that’ll do it justice. I’ll just say that it is the best fried chicken I’ve ever had, and that’s by a wide margin. The combination of juiciness of the chicken and crispiness of the skin is unmatched in anything I’ve ever had before. The balance of spices is nearly perfect, and the prices are so low that I really should go here more often. If it wasn’t located so far out in Webster I might make this a weekly trip. Anyways, you should definitely take your friends, family, loves ones, and hell, even your enemies to BC’s Chicken Coop. The chicken is good enough to turn even your biggest enemy into your best friend. What are you waiting for?

BC’s Chicken Coop is soooo dang delicious!!! I love fried chicken. Let’s be honest, there’s a massive shortage of good fried chicken restaurants in Rochester, so when you find that sweet spot, you better not let it go. The food takes a while to cook, but it’s worth the wait. Call ahead of time so you’re not staring at them for 20 – 30 minutes. My favorite sides are the chips and mashed potatoes. You really can’t go wrong with anything you order. Love BC’s!!!

Awsome food! Always hot and cooked fresh to eat. Sides are excellent. We definitely recommend to anyone looking for fried chicken. Also have ribs that are very good. I’ve been all over the US and have never had fried chicken that tastes like this.

Went here for lunch with a coworker on a Tuesday after reading the outstanding reviews for the place. I ordered the chicken and waffles and my coworker got the small combo(ribs, chicken, a side). I can say my chicken was outstanding, some of the best one ever had. The spice mix is wonderful and it also came with a spicy bbq style sauce and syrup that you are suppose to put over the chicken. Honestly it’s almost a shame to pour it on the chicken because it’s already flavored perfectly. The prices are higher than average but considering the quality you can’t complain about that. Keep in mind the seating inside is minimal, heck microscopic. There are three tables with two chairs each and I don’t think there is enough room to fill all of them either. Also all food is cooked to order so you will have to wait for it but yet again, worth the wait.

I am not from Webster. I came into town on business for a week arriving from Portland, Oregon. The first night I got into town, I was a bit hungry and looking for something to eat. I turned to my old friend; Unilocal to give me a hand sorting out where would be a good place to eat. BC ‘s Chicken Coop was number one on the list of best restaurants in Webster. As it happens I love fried chicken, and was very interested in checking it out. I had some trepidation, as I was not super hungry and didn’t know what to expect, so I ordered the«kids» meal, the mini clutch: thigh and a breast plus mac & cheese for my side. It took a bit of time to receive my order, and I could see the cooking method is a submersion fryer. A lot of places use the KFC pioneered technique of using a pressure cooker fryer. Which does cook a lot faster, but locks in a strict timed cook, and doesn’t allow for eyeballing the food in the oil to see if it needs more or less time. I chatted with the lovely staff while I waited, as Sunday night is not that busy. After a short time, my order came out. I have to say, right now. BC’s has broken fried chicken for me. I can’t go anywhere else and have fried chicken, and not set BC’s coop as the measure for the best-fried chicken I have ever had. The chicken here is outrageous. The spice blend used in the breading, and marinade is culinary magic. When the«Colonel» touts his secret mixture of 11 herbs and spices, he has nothing compared to BC’s spice blend, truly great chicken. Flavor penetrates all way down to the bone. Most of the time, once you pull off the skin, the chicken meat is bland, not BC’s that flavor is all the way though. I ended up eating here 3 of my 6 nights in Webster. I stepped up to a small clutch on the second visit and had the mashed potatoes and gravy. That side is a real stand out too. The mac & cheese is good, but the mashed potatoes taste and texture is just like great home cooking. You can tell all of these sides are made on site. My last meal was the hot wings. I got a side of standard hot wings sauce with them, and I have to say, it was a shame to put sauce on them. Those wings were so awesome rocking good, like mini versions of the regular chicken portions, that I couldn’t bring myself to douse those wonderful pieces in hot wings sauce, other than the first one. The hot wings sauce is indeed great, but I finished them all off without sauce. That sauce could have made lousy chicken wings taste good, but it could do nothing to BC’s wings. because you can’t make perfect better. If I am called out to Webster again, you can bet that I will head directly from the airport to BC’s coop. I’ll book my flights to ensure I get in before closing time. I am not kidding, this place is above good. Folks of Webster, enjoy BC’s you have a true gem on your hand there. I don’t hand out a lot of 5 star reviews, but this place deserves every star for flavor.

The BEST fried chicken. The best chicken meat(size flavor quality) and the best batter and frying(crisp and so tasty). Made when ordered = super fresh. Really no need to say more.

After seeing some great photos and reading the reviews(from excellent Unilocal friends«E»), I knew that I had to try this place and bring a few friends who love fried chicken. This review is for the fried chicken only. The five stars is absolutely earned for that. Be aware that this is not a traditional five star restaurant with ambiance and over the top refinement. The place itself is very tiny. It’s almost like an indoor booth. I just want people reading this to be aware that there is very little place to sit. We even drove past it the first time because sign is small. This is five star fried chicken. I live SW of Rochester so we took a Friday off of work. I drove to Leroy and Gates to get friends and headed to Webster. What a great day. We arrived, walked up and ordered our food from the nice woman(owner and cook I believe). She was helpful and entertaining. We sat at one of only two tables(and it was cramped) and waited patiently. She joked that we could go have a beer at place next door until the meal was ready. Bring it back too. The chicken arrived hot and crisp and juicy. Just plain excellent. A great crunch on the deliciously seasoned batter. The juicy white meat was also flavorful. The seasoning provided a colorful hue to the outside of the meat. This was cooked to perfection! The ribs were good too. Very meaty and slathered with a sweet and savory sauce but I would recommend the chicken over them. The chicken was the star. We had an awesome time and after we stopped in at Barry’s Irish Pub(did I mention that it was the Friday before St Patrick’s weekend) and had fun there too. Great place. So on a nice day head over(I assume that there will outdoor seating) and make an afternoon or evening out of it. Straight up, this was the best fried chicken that I have had.

WARNING: Do not go to BC’s expecting a regular-sized restaurant – there’s space for ~5 people total – it’s mostly designed as a take-out place. My friend and I had planned on doing a group meeting over lunch, thinking it was a regular-sized restaurant, but when we came in, two people had taken half of the seats and any meeting would have been very awkward. Luckily, we were coming in right as they were leaving. Ok, now that that’s out of the way, I have to say this place serves the best chicken and waffles I have ever tasted. The chicken was fried great, the waffles were nice, but the real kicker for me was their sauce. Oh lawwwwwwwwwwd, that sauce! As you know, fried chicken and waffles exist in two very separate flavor-worlds, each in their own end of the food galaxy, quietly unaware of each other. One is savory, fatty, and crunchy; the other is soft, pillowy, and sweet. This sauce was like an inter-dimensional portal that sprang up between the two worlds – a culinary Stargate, if you will – instantly and perfectly uniting the two planets and ushering in a new era of peace for both. I didn’t think it was possible, but the sauce was equally good on both the chicken and the waffle – not too sweet, with light barbecue flavors and a lot of tang. Not like boring old maple syrup, which is basically tacked on to the fried chicken while clearly not belonging there.

THISCHICKENISTOOLEGITTOQUIT! I’ll keep this review short and sweet since there are plenty lengthy informational ones. I echo all the praises for BC’s Chicken Coop. The fried chicken is battered and made fresh to perfection –ZERO fatty underlay, succulent meat, not oily, not salty and the spices well balanced. For their feed Pans(sides) stick to the green beans w/tomato & bacon and the chips. People are raving for a reason. In these cold weather months, warm up with a stiff one at Burke’s next door while you wait. BC’s even offers to bring it over — ask first of course. Already planning to come back for their chicken and waffles!

My friend and I were on an unofficial mission to find the best chicken and waffles in Rochester. Another friend of mine, who had already undertaken this mission in the past, recommend BC’s Chicken Coop. So off we went! The store front is very unassuming and easy to miss. The interior is very small — only 3 small tables and maybe 6 – 8 chairs total. Good thing we went at a somewhat awkward time, so managed to find a place to sit. I got the chicken and waffles, which come with two pieces of chicken, two waffles, and two sauces(maple syrup and the special coop sauce). Eat both of the sauces with the chicken — they’re delicious! Chicken is very juicy, crisp, and flavorful. It’s made to order, so you do have to wait quite a while(25 min in our case). I also got to try the green beans side. Not a big fan of the tomato green bean combo. I would recommend getting one of the other options. I’m since revised my mission to find the best chicken and waffles in Rochester because I realized that I like fried chicken a lot more than I like waffles. When I was eating my waffles, I realized that all I wanted was some more chicken, haha. Note to self: skip the waffles next time!

The other reviews are spot on! Fried chicken is perfectly crisp and you can tell is made with care. The chips were great especially dipped in their sauces. We could’ve passed on the Cole Slaw and Mashed Potatoes– average. Their sauces should seriously be bottled!!! The Coop sauce is the very best — vinegar/mustard/sweet/spicy — good on everything. The Flaming feathers is a spicy/garlic/buffalo type sauce and is also tasty. BBQ — taste more classic and is sweet and great with the chicken. They are reasonably priced. Tip — Call your order ahead so that its ready when you get there 25 – 30 minutes for family sized order.

Wow. First timer here and nothing negative to report. I got the small clutch with Mac and cheese. She informed me that she cooks it fresh to order so my son and I collected leaves for 15 mins. Holy crap this chicken is good! Fresh, not greasy, basically perfect fried chicken. She even threw in an extra piece for us :) Mac and cheese was good too! Definitely will return. Minimal seating and its next door to a shoe place if you’re looking for it!

After reading Andrew’s mouth-watering review and then to see others raving about BC, I had to make a stop in ASAP. Everything seemed to be made in-house and made to order. The reviews about these well seasoned, fried crispy delights were right on. Perfect crunch on the outside and tender, juicy meat on the inside. They were well battered and tasted fresh without that residual old oil flavor. The sides were good, but my potato-lovin’ self preferred the chips. These scrumptious chips were thin slices of potatoes and lightly salted. A crunch with each bite. The mac and cheese had a nice coat of cheese that tasted like mild cheddar and parm. The creamy chived mashed taters were topped with homemade gravy mildly seasoned with small bacon bits. The corn bread was crumbly and moist; slightly sweet and melt-in-your-mouth buttery deliciousness. The coop BBQ sauce was like traditional sauce. The tweet sauce was sweet like a maple flavor with a slight sour, peppery kick. The hot sauce tasted similar to Red Hot, but more vinegary with chunks of blue cheese. Yum. The service was superb. There’s only 3 – 4 small tables in the tiny sit down area and another couple was already there, right in the middle, so the owner set up a table outside for us without asking. The gentleman who took our order was very friendly and personable. He was enthusiastically raving about the food, the two owners, the special qualities of BC with excitement. That says something when employees care about the business as though it were their own. BC’s chicken is finger lickin’ good. I’ll be back!
