OK, so this is the first review I’m actually taking time to write! While on vacation last week my boyfriend and I decided it may be fun to take a surf lesson. Neither of us had ever surfed before but we always thought it would be fun to learn. Passed Sickday while walking around town, stopped in, and signed up for a private lesson for the following day. Brandon was our instructor and he was absolutely awesome. Although I was super nervous about trying to surf before the lesson, I immediately felt excited and happy to be learning something new once the lesson started. Brandon taught us the basics in a short time and was a great teacher — my boyfriend was able to stand up on his board first try and me on my second! It was the best day of my vacation and I am super happy we stopped in and decided to take a lesson – thank you! Highly recommended!

Very good shop and surf rental conveniently located in the nice town of Wellfleet and not far from Marconi beach. if you rent a board, be sure to check the waves by yourself in advance. also bring your surf rack or buy it if you can, considering the day rental is $ 15 per day and you can find a new one for about 30 – 35 $

SICKDAY is wonderful locally owned surf shop in Wellfleet, MA. My children took surf lessons from the shop and because of the great instructors they are hooked on the sport and will become part of family life now. Make time stop by the shop when visiting Wellfleet and sign up for surf school. Fun for the whole family!

I called around to a bunch of places in the area looking for a Standup paddle board that would be appropriate to rent for someone of a larger size. Sickday said they had the board I needed and we reserved the board to rent. We had wanted the board for 24 hours, however we had to actually rent it for two days in order to have it for 24 hours. Okay, not what the other shops offered, but no big deal. We took the board. We took lessons with another company in the area. He was surprised and dismayed that they even told us the board would hold someone of a larger size, and then come to find out that the paddle they gave us was missing a piece so that it could not be adjusted to height properly. Which made it useless. We used the board for the hour lesson and one of the lighter people in our group used the board. We brought the board back after the lesson and they charged us a half day rental for the board. I feel the person that rented us the board may not have been very knowledgable about the size and weight limits of the board. It was a much thinner and a few years older than the boards we used for our lesson. Not sure I would go back and rent from them in the future.

Great for surf lessons. Highly recommend Brandon, he was very patient with me and my kids. Also he knew not to push my daughter onto waves that would have overwhelmed her, keeping her on small«waves» he created by pushing her. The cute shop in Wellfleet is occasionally overwhelmed by foot traffic. Owners are fair and nice. It’s tough to eek out a living on three months a year. Just be sure to check the waves BEFORE you rent surf boards. Otherwise you may end up like me — paying an «idiot tax»(nonrefundable surf board rental) when there aren’t any surf-able waves.
