Smashburger

I’m over this place. I wanted a hot dog but the cashier insisted the way to get a hot dog was in a meal… $ 7.20 later for a hot dog I was already disappointed with my lunch choice. One saving grace the Smash fries were delicious but when I took a bite of my hot dog (which I could not get relish for) it tasted like I ordered a Salt dog! The hot dog was so salty that I ended up throwing it in the garbage! !!! No wonder there was only a couple of people in there during the height of lunch hours! YUK!!! This place is too expensive and over rated!

I ordered at 7:20PM on ⁵⁄₂₂. Cashier told me «5−7 mins your order is being made fresh». 7:49 order comes out but is incorrect. Very slow service.

What a joke. Kid ordered chicken strips and fries.
Sorry fryer is broken! What. They don’t have a backup plan? This place just feels worn with lazy management.

I had the Avocado Club Burger with a gluten free bun and Smashfries (regular fries with rosemary seasoning). It ended up being about $ 10 – 11 — a bit pricey since there’s no burger + fries combo, but I really enjoyed it! The toasted gluten free bun was nice and soft, and it tasted like a regular bun. The fries was my favorite kind — thin and crispy. The seasoning wasn’t too overpowering either but added a nice flavor.
The service was excellent. The cashier and the lady that brought me the food were both very friendly and had big smiles on their face. They were eager to help me with any questions I had and made sure that everything tasted fine.
Although it’s a bit pricey for a burger joint, you do get the benefit of options (make your own burger, multiple bun choices, different fry types/​flavors, salads, etc.).

First of all the girl taking my Order… Not at all friendly I could barley hear her and when I started to order without answering her question (that I could not hear) «For here or to go?» She got cranky and gave me a very unpleasant look. She didn’t bother to ask if I wanted to add anything to my burger. I ordered the mushroom burger and totally forgot I wanted to add ketchup and mustard and pickles. I also ordered the smash fries and a chocolate shake.
When my food was ready they give it to me and I had to remind them about the shake I ordered. Turns out my shake was ½ completed and left sitting on the counter unfinished to melt. The guy that gave me my food added the whipped cream and sent me on my way.
Got home tried the burger before adding my own ketchup and mustard and gahhhh… Super salty the burger had so much salt that I couldn’t finish it. The Smash fries were good but the chocolate shake was by far my most favorite thing I ordered.

The burgers and fries are delicious, however a little bit on the pricey side. Everything is sold individually so there’s no burger/​fries/​drink combos.

If this location stays open much longer I will be shocked. I’m not sure I have ever encountered a group of workers less interested in working at a place. Ordering was a very frustrating, our order came out wrong, late, or not at all, and the food is nothing remarkable (although the Smash fries are pretty good).
There was a kid in there who was trying to sell candy so he could go to Washington for his baseball team. He approached my party twice. The manager said, «Yeah, we get them in here all the time but we kick them out.» Hmmm…
The burgers have potential but they’re nothing I have to have again. The standard bun works well with it and the toppings are fairly fresh. They messed up one of our burgers so the kid took it in back and slapped on a piece of lettuce and brought the same one back.
The manager came us some $ 5 off coupons to come back again. No thank you.

Smashingly good! Fast, friendly service for a Saturday evening dinner.
The manager even stopped by our table and dropped off a couple coupons for a free side next time we’re there. I went here at my daughters request and having never been here it was a great idea. I love the different choices of buns. So many to choose from as well as the different cheeses. I had the cheeseburger with jack cheese on a pretzel bun. Not your usual cheeseburger. The topping were minimal with mustard lettuce and pickles and onions as I wanted to take in the tastes of the bun and the cheese. Excellent choice! I had the side of fries with this is as well. Great meal! If this place had one drawback it’s the a la’ carte menu. No combo meals that we’re used to at the faster food places. Next time, one of their shakes!

I enjoy their food (especially their INCREDIBLE fries), but my fiancée did not like his veggie burger the last time we dined there. To be honest, it did not look very good. In regards to the rest of the restaurant, it’s always clean, there’s plenty of seating, and a fair amount of choices on the menu.

Have you ever had the urge to smash something, but discovered that your pumpkin supply was disappointingly low? Welcome to smashburger. Where they well… smash your burgers? Came here with a few friends the other night, and here’s my 2 cents.
Pros:
+Burgers? I like burgers.
+Made to order.
+Grilled chicken was bomb. I could eat that chicken just by itself.
Cons:
+Buffalo fries RIDICULOUSLY salty. I mean wtf? I couldnt even eat it.
+Only 3 slices of avocado on my «Avocado club»? 3?! How dare you?
+Fries should be cut thicker. Too thin for my taste.
Don’t be fooled by any place that advertises «handcrafted burgers». All burgers at restaurants are handcrafted. McDonalds «crafts» their burgers by hand. I wish this place had wings though. I’d be back to try the salads. No more fries for me.

This was our first visit to Smashburger. I’m a vegetarian so burger restaurants aren’t usually my favorite, but my husband is a huge burger fan and spied a black bean burger on the menu so off we went. The counter staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The dining room was very clean. My black bean burger was quite tasty, and my shoestring fries were hot and yummy! The portion sizes were generous, I was pleased. The husband LOVED his burger. He said it was as tasty as his 5 guys burger, he’s not a fan of shoestring fries so they were less-​than for him. He also had a chocolate shake which he said was delicious! So all in all, a very nice lunch dining experience. We will definitely return.

I used to go to Smashburger in Phoenix, so I was really happy when they opened a couple here in Michigan. The place is clean, which is always a plus when you go somewhere to eat. When we walked in the door, we got a friendly greeting, unlike the surly, bored grunt you usually get at fast food places. The counter girl told us to take our time, & made suggestions. The meat is fresh & juicy. They forgot our Smash fries, so they threw in a free drink. Best part? The order was right! All the right stuff on our burgers. Better than your average fast food. Everyone is complaining about the price, but have they been to other fast food places lately? They’re all pretty much up there. I don’t really eat a lot of fast food, but if I’m going to, Smashburger would be my choice.

Burger was decent, got the one with goat cheese and spinach. It had way too many red onions on it. I had to take some off. Fries were cold. Overall it was just okay. I would rather go to red coat tavern down the street to get a burger.

Had someone tell me this is as good or better than 5 guys. For the price they are charging, honestly it was not even close. They are more like cafeteria burgers and do not compare to 5 guys. Please don’t believe the hype and never coming back.

The food is excellent I am giving 1 star because I cant order over the phone for carry out. That is the dumbest rule.

Great tasting burger and french fries. Service was quick and friendly. Great alternative to standard fast food places.

Burgers were tasty but for the $$$$ I was expecting a little more bang for my buck, probably won’t be back no time to soon

Upscale fast food at it’s best. Restaurant quality burger as good or better than one you would get at Red Robin or Applebee’s. I had the Avocado Club burger which was amazing, bun was nice and soft, veggies were crisp and delicious and it was a very large portion of meat as well. (I did get the larger size burger) I also had haystack onion rings which were the thinnest onion rings I have ever had. They were very tasty and came with a slightly spicy sauce for dipping. I had the herbal green tea and it was very good too. I was surprised how quickly we got our food. This is a ways from our house but would be worth an occasional trip for a great burger.

Smash is my go-​to burger spot. My order has been correct 3 out of 3 times that I’ve ordered on Unilocal!
I like the classic smash. The portion is generous. The spicy buffalo fries were underwhelming; just a dusting of «buffalo» salt. I prefer the smash fries or the regular fries. Be careful, the shoestring size sneaks up on you. I was stuffed before I knew it.

Let me start by saying the food is pretty good. The buger I had was better than at a similar burger place I tried called Mikey’s — that was also a thin burger, but bordered on burned rather than charred. It was also beyond greasy. The burger at Smashburger tasted like a better cut of beef was used. I also ordered a salted caramel milkshake and, while good, it didn’t taste salted nor really caramel-​y, either. The fries were good, although I can’t say they’re better even than McDonalds.
Cleanliness was also pretty good, although the place was dead when I came in for lunch, so they had plenty of time to clean up.
So why 3 stars instead of at least a 4? Well, it’s still only a 6oz burger (the «big» size) for nearly $ 8 (just the burger, no fries, drink, etc), and they really nickel and dime you if you go the customized route, quickly climbing to a $ 10 burger if you customize with «premium» items like bacon or avocado. I also didn’t like that they charged a premium for getting a healthy drink on the kid’s menu instead of a soda. $.50 more for a little juice box instead of a Mountain Dew? And they weren’t willing to substitute the kid’s meal soda towards the milkshake.
I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I don’t like restaurants that don’t budge toward the customer.
Anyway, after all my rambling, I can say I like the food here, but likely won’t be back again.
