Great atmosphere, service & food! Hostess station could use a few more arrows, otherwise a great escape.

This is my favorite place to eat at the Cape. They have the best clam chowdah you’ll ever find. It’s very creamy and thick /award winning. I’ve always had a great meal here. I recommend the shrimp cocktail and the crabby patties which are to die for. Also, They have an outdoor patio with flaming heat lamps at night which are pretty cool. This place is great if you have kids or just looking to have fun with friends/family.

5⁄5 for the clam chowder — best I’ve had yet and 5⁄5 for the outdoor seating arrangement with the heat lamps and fire pits. Only thing that could’ve been better was the Bloody Mary. I’m a big Bloody Mary fan and wasn’t terribly impressed by this one. All in all a good experience!

Food was very good, place was clean and neat. It’s all about the chowder over at this place. The lobster bisque was okay too.

I’ve really been striking out in my search for good food along Route 28 in Yarmouth. I had high expectations for this one after noticing Captain Parker’s very own clam chowder is sold in grocery stores. A good seafood dinner would have completed my day trip to the Cape, but this place really let me down today. The pub itself is simple with dated décor and a casual feel. It’s charming in a way and probably a comfortable atmosphere amongst regulars. As you enter, there is a small bar area and two separate dining rooms beyond a half wall. The bar appears to be a fun place to hang out and was more populated than the dining room while we were there today. We were greeted by a host and seated quickly. The host performed his job, but did not go above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Same goes for our server, she performed her job, but was quick, abrupt, and seemed as if she had better things to do. There was no friendly smile, maybe a half smile, or attempt at conversation. Strike one. As we settled into our beige, vinyl covered booth circa 1970, we began to browse the regular menu and the specials. The entrees, especially the seafood, were a bit pricier than we expected, especially since Captain P’s appears as a very casual, pub-style establishment. The specials were even more expensive than the regular items, which really did not make them all that special. Strike Two. We started the meal off with the«famous» chowder and agreed it was very good. Probably not the best I’ve ever had, but it was the only redeeming factor here at Captain Parker’s today since my entrée was a fail. I’ve been trying to eat less fried food lately so I decided to go with the baked Schrod. I know baked seafood can be risky, as not many places can pull it off. My parents ordered fish and chips and the fried fish sandwich.(They shouldn’t be eating fried foods either, but they are stubborn). They said their fish«wasn’t bad», but the fries were«dry.» My baked Schrod was so disappointing. Globs of overly cooked and dry Ritz Cracker topping covering the filet, which itself was very soggy. The green beans were shriveled and I swear they must have cooked the baked potato a week ago. Where is Chef Ramsey when I need him? Strike 3 …And you, Captain Parker, are OUT! I am really disappointed we paid so much money today for a meal in which so little effort was put into. I expected much better. Maybe they have gone downhill? Perhaps this is a decent place for just a chowder and a beer only? I won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

The best clam chowder I’ve had in quite some time. Lobster rolls– beautiful. The Bloody Marys– simple, straightforward and delicious. Service was New England lovely. Went twice during our last trip to the Cape, and most definitely will return again.

Saw they were listed on a Best Chowder list, so I went to get some to go. It was earlier than the lunch rush, and when I went in, they said the hot soup wasn’t ready yet, but they could give me a cold cup. Wish they would’ve discounted it a bit… or heck, just heated it up for me! The chowder was good, but def too salty(and I think I’m more likely to say soup isn’t salty enough). Wouldn’t return.

Their chowder game is strong, and really is the best on the cape. Rich, thick, and chock full of clams, after one taste, this chowder sets a new standard.

The four(4) stars are all to the clam chowder! The place looks like a very local bar at a town. Just like a movie set. I wish I took more pictures but did not want to be too invasive since we were just looking for a place to have a drink that was original and authentic in town. We ordered a couple of drinks, and of course I ended up having my wife’s Bloody Mary due to the wrong choice of mixer for the drink. It tasted like an airplane kind of drink. They need to switch to a better brand Bloody Mary mix that is less«oniony»! But, the clam chowder made us forget the drinks even though we both ordered a bowl, that were humongous, we left just the spoon on the plate! The good thing is, they sell it to go even by the gallon. We were told people come at 8am to get their daily supply… Crazy!!! Oysters Rockefeller were so so, and the clam strips with chips were a good size for a portion. Now back to the chowder… I will probably go back to explore what kind of ingredients they use in it. So, to be honest, it is a potato dish that features Clams. So it is something probably very simple and well balanced that once you get it, you just don’t play around with it. I want the recipe!!! Finally, the atmosphere plays an important role. It feels like a diner in the middle of a movie were all the locals go on a Sunday evening. Must come back again.

BEST. CHOWDER. EVER. Seriously, it’s the best I have ever had. I love this place. It’s cozy and comfortable, the staff is always friendly and attentive and the food is delicious. It’s super popular so be prepared to wait, but it’s worth it. The seafood is pretty pricey but everything is always really fresh and delicious. And seriously, the chowder.

This place is one of my family’s favorite places to visit in Cape Cod. They have the BEST clam chowder I’ve ever had!(we even got some to go, $ 16). All of their seafood is very fresh, you can tell by the taste. I had fried sea scallops and they were cooked to perfection. The fries were hand cut and also delicious. Quite an expensive meal. Most items on the menu vary as little as $ 6.50 for a bowl of chowder, to the entrees which are a minimum of $ 25 each. But seafood is expensive, and you get what you pay for. The fish they use is fresh from the sea!

Amazing clam chowder. The Nantucket Cod waned in comparison. We will be back next time we are up: bowl of clam chowder and a salad it is. Martinis looked good too.

I love Captain Parkers Pub! I have been coming for over 30 years as often as I can get to the Cape. Casual seafood restaurant with possibly the best clam chowder I have ever had. Excellent food, friendly service, great for families…

The best clam chowder I have ever tried. Thick, creamy and full of flavor. Lobster rolls was very juicy and the portion was very generous. Our waiter paid a lot of attention to our table which made us feel very special.

This is such a great restaurant to enjoy great food, great customer service and beautiful outdoor views! Clearly the people who gave this place anything less than 5 stars are just cranky! Absolutely no complaints over here!!!

Best clam chowder in the world — period. Who cares what else they serve? So glad they added the outdoor patio a few years back.

Service was very good and the chowder was fantastic. Outside seating area is really nice, especially with the various fire pits, electric heaters and gas lamps. Unfortunately all down hill from there. Seafood appetizer was drowned in «butter», onion rings were sub par and entrees were not good. The swordfish was the smallest piece I think I have ever been served. The stuffed sole with Newberg sauce was inedible. The sauce was nasty and the stuffing was an over pureed paste similar to brown glue. If it wasn’t for service and chowder it’d be one star.

Beyond being one of the only dining establishments on Cape open year-around, there isn’t anything too special about Captain Parker’s Pub. This isn’t a must-visit, but they do serve up some pretty ok appetizers and seafood. Captain Parker’s definitely caters toward the tourist industry. The entryway from the parking lot is home to a set of brochures. Walking past the bar, you’re greeted by Captain Parker’s T-shirts and other apparel on a dedicated table. Every place setting has a paper placemat with even more promotions. On the plus side, there is a nice gas fireplace running in the winter. The menu is a thick, padded book and is pretty extensive. There are so many specials here! There’s an insert with specials, and then more specials called out on their own page. I guess they’ve figured out that the older Cape Cod crowd loves their specials. I’ve tried the clam chowder, fried pickles, raw bar appetizer plate, crunchy fish & chips, and broiled sole with newburg sauce. Nothing was outstanding. The clam chowder and raw bar were the standouts. But, I agree with others — you shouldn’t believe the award winning chowder hype. There’s a lot of good chowder on Cape, and Captain Parker’s is pretty standard. The raw bar was pretty good; I really enjoyed the oysters and clams. For an entrée, I would stick with the seafood and fried seafood options. The crunchy fish & chips didn’t do it for me — the corn flake batter made the batter crust too hard for me. I would stick with the regular fish & chips. Most of the seafood options come with sides, and seem like a pretty good package. Sadly, lobster rolls aren’t served in the offseason. The only lobster you’ll find is in the lobster & seafood fettuccine, which is the highest-priced seafood entrée and probably the one with the most sodium. I’ve always had pretty good service at Captain Parker’s. I would imagine that your mileage could vary greatly in the summer when the temporary staff kicks in.
