Great shop, friendly staff right next to Yellowstone and some nice trails. We rented skis twice, left our boots at the shop and headed east into the park. I came back with some minor damage to one of my skis about which the were very forgiving.

After striking out in Bozeman & Billings, my wife found all three mountain biking items she had been looking for right here in this little West Yellowstone store! They also gave us directions to a fantastic single track ride a few miles from town, which we now call one of our favorites. Highly recommended!

This place has great service and the employees are very personable. We rented skis for the day and the price would hard to beat elsewhere. We also had a lesson with Craig because it was our first time cross-country skiing. He was very knowledgeable, helped us so much and told us quite a bit about the area. Definitely worth it to get a lesson for our first time out and it allowed us to have so much more fun. Thank you Freeheel and Wheel for the awesome day!

We just stopped by for coffee and the owners were super friendly and made a decent chai. Store was inviting and although we weren’t shopping for bike gear or rentals, it was stocked well, heavy on the clothes and not as much on gear. If we come back through I’m sure we’ll stop again.

Great coffee and tea. We stopped here after hiking the trails outside Yellowstone(closed due to govt shutdown) several times. Welcoming staff and great lattes and coffee.

What a great place. They are very friendly and really care about the people that come through. I would recommend stopping in and saying hi. They can give you advice on just about anything you need. Also while you are there try a chia tea they are great.

This review is mainly for Melissa Alder, one of the owners. My boyfriend and I decided to rent mountain bikes during our August stay in West Yellowstone to bike in the park. We had planned some pretty full and active days in the park; when we came to Freeheel &Wheel, Melissa was loaded with advice, suggestions, and hospitality. As the sign said outside, «Free Knowledge» — Melissa has lived in West Yellowstone for the last sixteen years and she recommended a mountain bike trail for us that took us through the backcountry and had incredible views. She also recommended we go to the Boiling River early in the morning and made special accommodations so that we could pick up our bikes after store hours(we were near Yellowstone Lake and wouldn’t be able to pick up our bikes before the store closed and wanted to have them early the next morning) so we could take it to Boiling River bright and early. We ended up running into Melissa one evening at dinner; she can point you to the few good restaurants in town. Overall, great and down-to-earth customer service!

Excellent place. The service was great and it was a fun atmosphere. The pot of coffee was getting a little cold, so she made us a fresh pot. They also sell great snacks for the road.

Awesome place. Not clear what it is: ski rental, mountain gear shop or coffee house? But they deserve 5 stars for the three categories. Very nice and friendly staff, comfy couch and cheap prices. Take 5 minutes to stop here before entering into the park. If you want to cross country ski, it is definitely the place to go for advices.
