On our way to jersey we always stop at a new place to try. Using Unilocal we found this place and I’m glad we did. It’s for sure a local bar where everyone knows each other. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. It sits on the water and I bet is a great spot during the summer. We sat at the bar and our bar tender was great. She made recommendations on food and let us taste test some beers. They have a great draft menu which is good for the beer geek in me. The folks next to us ordered spinach artichoke dip and it looked amazing. I have to try it. Being called the burger bar that’s what we had. What a great burger. Char grilled and huge. I had trouble eating it all. I had fries on the side and they were served hot and crisp just as I like it. Service is friendly and the food is good. I’d recommend this as a great place to have dinner or just hang out and have a beer.

Fantastic burgers and salads. Spiked milkshakes are awesome. Craft beer selection is fantastic. We live close by, so it is a regular stop for dinner and business lunches. It can get quite busy, so get there early or expect to wait

While I was generally happy with the burger and fries, it was the incredible craft beer selection that really makes this place great! A little too dark inside for my taste, but the bar area is fun.

Burgers are great… But one word for overall experience. SLOOOOOOOOOOW. And by slow, I mean one of the slowest restaurants or burger bars I have ever been to. Literally ever.

We went there a few weeks ago and couldn’t get in, they were so crowded. So today we went back. It was a great experience! The wait service was wonderful. The burgers were excellent. Waffle fried with chili and cheese… A+ Nice size drinks and a great selection of craft beers. Limited menu was easy to order from… everything was fresh! On the way out, each of the waitresses wish us a happy new year… nice touch! We will be back!

Fantastic burgers and great atmosphere. Quality of meat and ingredients far superior to any other burger place. Definitely recommended.

One of my happy places! The bad day cheer up routine is: the local stout on tap, usually a coffee, chocolate or this time PEaNUT BUTTER! Zucchini fries and a nice pink burger. Really… They are all delicious. I’m working my way through the menu. We always sit at the bar and have a great night!

I must say that I really enjoy the food and the burgers are excellent. Unfortunately, the service and in particular the manner in which they treat walk-in guests is abysmal. Three times this year(including this evening) we were quoted a wait time for a group of 5, and each time the wait was at least double what we were told. Tonight we couldn’t wait that long(3 kids under 10 cannot wait 50+ minutes when we were quoted 20. The worst part? The time you waste in their crowded waiting area is lost when you try to go elsewhere and experience another wait. It’s extremely frustrating — the Haywire hosts upfront are either dishonest or incompetent. Neither of those are what you want to experience on a night out with your family.

Grabbed dinner here on the way to another stop on the shoreline, after trying to stop elsewhere. Waited a few minutes for a table outside to try and soak up the last few warm days and enjoy the almost-sea air. We started with the calamari, which was nicely done with tasty dipping sauces. I ordered the haywire burger(pink, of course) which was pretty good(they were voted best burger on the shoreline). Kirstin had a quesadilla which was huge! Not a bad stop for dinner last minute!

My husband and I were driving along Route 1 in Westbrook on Sunday, taking the back roads from the Tanger Outlets, en route to Chamard Vineyard. We were hungry and did a U-turn when we saw Haywire Burger Bar. I think Haywire is a relatively new spot, we got married in the area 3 years ago and I don’t think it was there at the time since we did a fairly exhaustive search of restaurants in the area looking for a rehearsal dinner spot. We parked the car and went inside, it was very warm and cozy. We got seated right away. They had some specials and have a relatively large list of craft beers. We got a pretzel appetizer special that came with a cheese sauce and a mustard sauce for dipping. I ordered the Haywire burger and my husband ordered the Sunny Side. Both were excellent and cooked to order. I would definitely go back to Haywire whenever I’m in the area.

Food and service was great. My friend and I didn’t order the burgers, but instead had the salmon and ribs. Both so unexpectedly delicious. Highly recommend.
