Can’t believe it, one of my top all time favorite seafood restaurants has come to my home town, I’ve been a repeat customer since 1983 when we 1st moved to Westchester, after a long day of moving and cleaning we headed for Canal St. And now to have a franchise open up literally around the corner acknowledges there is a God. While the new location lacks in the customer efficiency, the flavor remains the same. In other words b/c of the high traffic the restaurant will continue to generate: there’re going need a bigger flipping boat. I will continue to keep a close eye on their progress in my community.

Ok. The place just opened a bit ago so I will give them some slack. I went there for lunch today(it was crowded) and got a fish sandwich dinner(I should have ordered over the phone). The dinner included cole slaw, fries, a roll and a drink. The wait for the dinner was 22 minutes and some people were waiting longer for their orders. This seems a bit long for me. The sandwich itself was good as was the slaw. However, everything was cold, which I found surprising considering the wait. I would bet if the food was warm it would’ve been better. Not sure if I will go back yet.

OK. This place is a branch of the one on Canal. It just opened this week and I was excited! THEGOOD: The food is just as good as the one downtown. Crispy fish and chicken strips. I’m allergic to Shellfish but my family LOVED the Coconut shrimp. My husband said the frog legs were good(he wont be kissed for a least 24hrs). Although the fries were a little cold, the food in general was high quality. THEBAD: The staff and manager seem not prepared. They seem not to have a good system in place and they did not show good customer service skills to make things better when they messed up. If you have a bad attitude but pump out food flawlessly… your business may still do well. If you have a bad attitude AND cannot even provide the correct food then your business will fail. I might try it again, once the crowds of the first few weeks go away in hopes that they will have perfected their system(with OR without the attitude). FYI: Good system = Reasonable wait times, correct orders with the high standards of quality food that your business strives to produce. Best wishes to you!

This was my first experience at Lawrence’s. We were invited to the preview by Dan, one of the owners. He was there to greet us and let us order anything we wanted. Being a New Orleans native, I obviously ordered a shrimp poboy and ordered catfish filets for my hubby. The poboy was dressed with the appropriate French bread and lettuce. They added a spicy mayo that was deelish. The shrimp were small, but the breading was good and they tasted great. The hubs got the catfish which were a good size and portion(he got the half size which was plenty). The fries were fresh and hot(like everything else). We ordered chicken strips for our toddler and they were very tasty. I had a little buyers remorse when I saw the little girl sitting near us sink her teeth into the biggest coconut shrimp I’ve ever seen. Just another reason to go back!

Wow! What a wonderful experience we had today at the new Lawrence’s Fish & Shrimp Restaurant in Westchester! The décor is fabulous with local artists displaying their talents with art and wall murals throughout the restaurant, even in the restrooms, all in the nautical theme. The staff was quick and efficient and very knowledgeable about their menu. We had the half shrimp dinner which included french fries, cole slaw, and a fresh roll. The food was simply delicious and prepared to perfection. We can honestly say the fried shrimp is the best in Chicago land. Thank you to Lawrence’s for spreading your wings and giving us another location to enjoy your delicious food!

The new Lawrence’s is the same as the iconic original: AMAZING! The fish is fresh and prepared perfectly– deep fried but somehow very light and not at all greasy. I had the clams and shrimp. The portions were HUGE as were the individual pieces. The restaurant is clean and bright, with a lively buzz, and the staff was really friendly and courteous. A great family destination, or easy take-out.
