Rick Garcia Salon

This is my second review of this gem of a salon in Westport. Not wishing to spend yet another hot, humid Summer day with bad hair, I decided to have Kathy do the Cezanne treatment on my hair. Yes, I was very nervous. I have short hair that doesn’t have much body. I need to use mousse to style and then hair spray — lots of it — to keep the style. Then on humid days… don’t have to tell you what a colossal waste of time my efforts were.
I was nervous that I’d end up with very straight, flat hair. Was I ever wrong! It’s been three days since my treatment and I love my hair! It’s so easy to style with a minimum of effort and product and my hair looks great all day.
Kathy knows her product, is a whiz at applying it and the results are truly amazing. The effects should last about 4 months depending on one’s hair. You must use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner which you may purchase at the salon but is readily available anywhere.
My Cezanne treatment was followed immediately with color treatment by Shannon who is another expert at Rick Garcia. Love my hair color!

I started going to Rick Garcia after I asked a woman who does her FABULOUS hair color: Shannon. Once I discovered Shannon, a supremely talented colorist, I’ve never looked back. Shannon is, dare I say it, a true genius. She listens to what you want and then comes up with personalized suggestions that work exactly for you. I have seen and met a few of her other clients and you can immediately see she is not a «one color combination fits all». She takes into account your hair type (I have curly hair but I’ve seen her work on straight hair too), how you style it, your skin tone, your eyes, etc, and then produces something that far exceeds your expectations. I went from brown with gold to red with copper; she made it seamless and surprisingly a natural red for me. I can’t say enough about her, obviously. If you’re looking for a colorist, stop here, call, and book an appointment with Shannon. She rocks. For real.

I would highly recommend this salon for the stylist, not for the owner!!! He is the son of the original owner and is not loyal to his long time clients. There are excellent stylists at the salon that are talented at what they do, but he is turning off the cliental. I would not write this scathing review if he had not deliberately overcharged me and others. He did not let the clients know when we made the appointment he doubled the price for a blow out, just because it was a day before the Holidays. This practice will only turn away clients, as they will go elsewhere.

I’m thrilled to be the first to review this salon! I have been to this salon several times and I must say, I have not only had excellent hair cuts and/​or color, but I also have an amazing time there. Sorry for the length, but it’s completely worth the read.
I refuse to go to any other stylist now after I have been with Patrick, the cutest Frenchman you will ever have the pleasure to meet. He is so funny and charming, and I put 100% confidence in him when it comes to my hair. He is always friendly and willing to chat about his kids, but when it comes down to business, he’s all about the hair. Never has my thick hair looked or felt more healthy, light, and bouncy. How can I turn my back on that?
I also had my hair colored by Shannon, a senior stylist. She is the go-​to color woman at Rick Garcia Salon. I had [unfortunately] decided to box-​dye my hair a deep red many months ago, and then tried mistakenly to correct my color on 2 other box-​dye attempts. You can imagine what that had done to my hair. It left it not only dry and with a dull matte, but there was about 6in of brown hair from the roots and my ends were a dark, dry, red. Whenever I wore my hair up, the contrast was horrifying. Shannon took one look and she knew exactly what to do. Instead of going back to my dull brown color, she chose a very similar chestnut that catches the light in just the right way. Honestly it’s like a new head of hair.
You can’t go wrong at Rick Garcia Salon. Everybody is extremely friendly, but professional and they know when it’s time to get down to business. You will not leave unhappy, that’s for sure.
