Definitely check this place out for some brunch action. Bread baked in a pot and the butter is excellent. Coffee is really good as well. Plus the market has some great home items. Check out the handmade soap$$.

We went to Terrain to have lunch with several of our Atria Darien residents. What a magical experience we had! The food was delicious and our mouths watered as we were presented with hot, fresh bread served in a small ceramic pot! Seconds were generously offered! Some of us enjoyed the lemon ricotta pancakes while others had gnocchi with dill sauce. The atmosphere was so enjoyable and lush that we felt that we had been transported to another location, not downtown Westport! On behalf of the 10 seniors who dined, Terrain received very high marks!

I love Terrain. The atmosphere is great and the lattes are the best. The food is fresh and tasty and they are very accommodating to dietary needs. The staff is easy on the eyes as well!

Worst service I have ever experienced. Unknowingly showed up to the restaurant 2 minutes before the restaurant closed. Greeted by Matthew who rolled his eyes when he came up to us. Proceeded to seat us then said the kitchen was closing in 2 minutes. We told him we would order fast. He then huffed and rolled his eyes more as he began to set up our table. His attitude was so obvious that customers around us were watching. We sat down then another person came out to tell us the kitchen was closed… I mean, come on people, if you don’t want us here then say you’re closed! I have no problem enjoying my meal else where. Beautiful space but the service here sucks and clearly the employees hate working.

ABSOLUTEBEAUTIFULPLACE! Food was wonderfully prepared and presented, which made eating a unique experience. Perfect for people that are looking for an out-of-the-ordinary eating experience. The place is almost like a giant warehouse and plant nursery outside. After I ate, I spent a very looking time walling around looking at the furniture, books, and other items they sell here. Food was amazing. Organic, very fresh and healthy. Loved it. Want to go back soon

Terrain is a very interesting concept of a store. It’s like a garden store, with a side of pretension. It’s very cool and hipster, but filled with middle aged women with wayyyyyyyyy too much money to spend(nothing against them, as I aspire to be them one day). It’s owned by the Urban Outfitters group and you definitely get that vibe at this store. Everything is beautiful but very very overpriced. Interestingly enough, there is a café on site, and it actually seemed to be a very popular attraction, though I can’t actually comment on the quality of the food.

Fantastic brunch! The Terrain Benedict with fresh buttermilk biscuits were ridiculous. Cool atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. Excellent place and I plan on returning!

My fiancé and I made a trip to terrain because we were considering this place as a potential wedding venue. We had made a reservation for a Friday night for dinner at the café and we couldn’t have been more impressed. After taking a look at the menu we decided to each order the five course chef tasting and it was fantastic. Both my fiancé and I were brought a different dish and each time it was a surprise! The first course was salad. One a mixed greens with pickled onions smoked blue cheese and apples and the other dinosaur kale with squash pears and pumpkin seeds! The second course a was pasta dish, gnocchi with cauliflower, carrots and a pumpkin sage pesto and the other was polenta topped with a fried egg and mushrooms though these dishes seem to be a bit unconventional they were both absolutely delicious! The third course was a seafood dish, breaded cod on a bed of risotto and seared scallops with sweet potato and greens. The scallops were by far my favorite meal of the night! If that’s not enough there was more!!! The fourth course was meat, a braised short rib with mushrooms(a very savory dish) and a crispy chicken thigh on a bed of greens and spaghetti squash. And finally the fifth course… dessert!!! There were three scoops of ice cream one dark chocolate, one pumpkin spice and one sweet corn. There was also a fresh peach cobbler and an espresso mouse with cake like brownie pieces! All the meals were cooked to perfection and so unique. I would definitely recommend terrain if you are looking for a spectacular dining experience!

Went here for brunch with a coworker and actually got a little lost on the way in. The restaurant is hidden behind the store, tucked away with the pots and garden accessories sold there. Food was great. We loved the bread, which was a little brioche served in a pot. Mimosas were a little more juice than alcohol, but my friend loved her Bloody Mary. I ordered a special omelette with goat cheese, dill, peppers, and fresh bacon. Really high quality ingredients. Overall the spot is quite pricy for a brunch. A few tables near us brought children, which for God’s sake is a nightmare when you’re nursing a weekend hangover over Sunday brunch. That being said, the food and atmosphere were great, so I may return soon.

The setting is fantastic, more LA than Connecticut, and the outside terrace is surrounded by plants — a true oasis off the Post Road. We sat down and were left for fifteen minutes before anyone came over to offer us anything at all. We ordered, and waited. And waited. And waited some more. The food finally arrived after an hour, and it was fine. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say, «meh. I’ve experienced better.» Oh so much better. The presentation is good and the food looks delicious, but tastes like cardboard — no taste whatsoever. Bland, bland, bland. More than anything, it feels that no-one at Terrain really cares. This is not food cooked with any love, or care, and having waited for an hour, I can honestly say it wasn’t worth it. Which is a shame given such a very beautiful environment. It feels like a corporate flagship store with no-one manning the ship. The bottom line is, no-one in there really gives a f*ck, and it shows in both the service and the food.

Way too overpriced for what it is. Never been to the restaurant, just the store. Employees couldn’t tie a a Christmas tree to a car if their life depended on it. I pulled out, my $ 75 dollar mediocre tree slid off my roof & scratched my car. I then had to pull into the fire station and tie it on myself. What happened to men knowing how to tie a knot? Anyways, my fault for going there to begin with and paying that much — their fault for giving the tree tying task to Starbucks drop outs.

The Garden Café is one of my favorites in CT. I just love the place and the ambience. I guess all the food theyre serving are homegrown and organic, at least that’s what they make you feel. Though I don’t really care about that. But every time i grab lunch there I always feel a little healthier. I know some of the food are also a little bland, however for me the ambience and all the plants around compensate for that, hence the 4 star. I just love how the building is like a big terrarium.

The bread pot is the highlight of the meal. The restaurant is adorable. I would almost just go for the scenery. But the food is too bland to be so overpriced.

This place is great. I’d describe it as the Crate and Barrel of plant stores. The store itself is owned by the Urban Outfitters group. The store is set up to give you great(aspirational) design ideas for your garden or plant-filled living rooms. Everything is beautiful and obviously great quality. The staff is very helpful in case you need anything. There is a restaurant on site. The prices are a little ridiculous, as mentioned in other reviews. Its something to expect in this neighborhood and with this type of store. You see it from the outside and you can easily assume that, so don’t expect to be bargain hunting here.

Have been here a number of times over the past two years. Went about a week ago and am not sure what happened but it was really terrible. The seating outside was a nice feature but after literally 25 mins. of sitting with our menus we had to flag someone down to serve us. And this was during lunch. It was not overly busy either. We were a table of 4. 2 of the meals came out, which then sat there while we waited another 10 minutes for the other 2 meals to come out. No apologies from the server. They seemed to have multiple people tending to our table which was part of the problem. I don’t think anyone ever knew what the other servers had/hadn’t done. I had the portobello burger. It might as well have been called a vinegar burger because that’s absolutely all you could taste. The bread was also soggy, since it probably had been sitting for a while. Portions were good, but it didn’t really matter because I left ½ of my burger due to the vinegary-ness. I hope they get their act together. Seems like a management problem. Its a cute place that used to be good. For now, its only worth 2 starts.

My daughter and I traveled to Terrain and the Terrain Café on Saturday, May 16, 2015. This has been a goal of ours for a couple of years as we do not live locally. The café far exceeded our expectations! The idea of a café in a garden center is unique in and of itself. When you add a delicious, creative menu and polite, knowledgeable and pleasant servers it’s a home run! We thoroughly enjoyed our food. We had the chicken salad sandwich on baguette with a side salad. The chicken salad had raw red onion mixed in which is a favorite of mine. There were thinly sliced English cucumbers and a garlic aioli. The side salad was a spring mix lightly dressed with balsamic. Additionally, we had the Greek yogurt parfait with grapefruit, clover honey and toasted almonds(which were generously applied). The chai tea lattes were fabulous! I don’t know how they made our skim milk version taste so creamy!

Unique place to browse for ideas but their prices are insane. I like to check out their sale items and I don’t really think of myself as a big bargain hunter — but when I can find the same cement urn at Benedict’s Farm Supply for a fraction of the price, I can’t help but feel I’m being mocked by Terrain. They have an amazing section where you can assemble your own terrariums. I believe they also offer classes in this. The gift selections are fun to walk through and pick up ideas but I’ve never found anything worth the price. All of that aside, they have a cute little eatery that seems like it would be great fun to meet up with a friend and have some tea and snacks. The trouble is, this is all in theory because I have thrice attempted to be served at this café and EVERY time, there has been at least two people«working» behind the counter and EACHTIME, they completely IGNOREDME!!! What on earth is this nonsense about?! So, two stars is all I can really spare for this overpriced, apparently too good-to-work establishment. Did I mention that there is never anyone to actually answer my questions about their products? This place is a fail for anything but idea hunting.

This place is so cute!!! The food is fantastic — I came here for Westport restaurant week and it was nomstastic! The service was great– we were running late to dinner and came almost toward closing and they took us in :) I had the beet salad, pork loin, and pumpkin bread pudding :) the best part is their cute flower pot bread with this amazing butter concoction! It was so good I came back with my girlfriend for brunch the following Saturday and it was just as amazing! The attached nursery and store is adorable and I want everything at that store!(Especially if you are an anthropologie fan) Surprised it not as crowded, because if this was in San Francisco or L. A there would definitely be a 2 hour wait or more! Highly recommend!

How can it be that I’ve not reviewed this place before? I’ve only been for lunch and not dinner but each visit has been awesome. The setting amidst the garden shop and retail shopping is unique and wonderful. I miss the sweet little way they used to present the bills in the past tucked into old books. Wonder why they stopped that? Wine list stellar as is the varied menu. You can always find something new and exciting to try out. Indeed, I was a «lady who lunches» the other day and we had excellent meals and wine with the exception of very tart, acidic macchiatos. The older matriarch I was with was equally as surprised by the yuppie women dining in throngs letting their babies crawl all around the floors. She said that would have never happened in her era. It’s interesting why these ladies think it’s ok to allow this now.
