Wethersfield really has some great pizza, and checked this place out for the first time and it did not disappoint. Their thing in my opinion is the crust, thin and burnt, but only slightly not as bad as a pepes or something like that, just amazing. Great crunch, but without the total burnt taste for those that might not like that. If u like thin crust, this is your spot in Wethersfield! Great ingredients too, had their special and it was surprisingly not all that greasy even with the bacon. Will be back again, and soon!

Have only tried their pizzas, and they never disapoint. Thin NY style with great sauce, and never skimp on the toppings.

Didnt feel like driving too far from my home so we went here. Unfortunately I regret not ordering take out from my usual place, Leo’s for my tuna grinder. Asked for it hot, it came cold. Them saw that there was a only smear of tuna on it. So little tuna it didnt taste like tuna. Explained the dilemma to the waitress but not much of a resolution was offered. They charged me for it and I conveyed I would never be back again. Sad sad Tuna day for me :(

Pretty dark restaurant, went there on a Wednesday around 2pm there was only one other table occupied when I walked in. It took 30 minutes for my small calzone($ 8.75) to come out and when it did it was sliced into 5 pieces which I wasn’t a fan of. The calzone itself was okay I was happy with the amount of cheese in it and it had a very thin crispy crust but all in all it didn’t have much flavor I wouldn’t go back. The other table did order a specialty pizza and it smelled amazingggg I had to add that

If your looking for a little hole in the wall restaurant with great food, I recommend visiting Sophia’s. Their stuffed breads, salads, wings are fantastic! Give it a try!!!

I love this place. If you love thin crust then is is your go to. My sister introduced me to it years ago and i’ve been going back ever since. And their oven baked grinders are just as good. And their wings! They also sell slices so it’s a nice lunch if you’re not looking to spend too much!

Best pizza in town. Brick oven, thin crust. My husband loves their cheese fries. Their Sofia’s special stromboli is a home run. Grinders are good but prefer village to satisfy that craving. Dining area is drab and rarely anyone in there but take out is where its at. Local family owned. Definitely give it a shot.

Just happen to stumble upon this place. I’m so glad I did. I ordered a chicken parm grinder and added ricotta cheese. Delicious! While I was waiting I ordered a slice of cheese pizza… A slice of heaven rather. Perfect flavor, brick oven style n crispy and just the right amount of grease. It’s gotta have some grease. I’ve definitely found my pizza place.

Pizza has the basis for a very good pie. Thin crust, a little chewy, a little crispy. Tasty, fresh tomato and not too much cheese. What keeps this from being New Haven style is that despite the brick oven, there is no charring or bubbling of crust and cheese. The pie isn’t underdone, but it seems like the oven needs to be much hotter. Don’t get me wrong, this is a solid effort worth trying. Just a little short of great.

I stopped in and purchased 2 slices of cheese pizza at around noon on a Wednesday. There were no other customers, but the staff was preparing several pizza, wraps etc. for takeout. The slices were okay, but there are better options in the immediate area.

I usually use a different place for pizza, grinders, and salads but wanted to try something different. My rule is try a place new place few times to form an opinion. We did takeout all 3 times as the location is not appealing. First time we tried pizza, wings, and jalepeno poppers. Poppers were all bread, wings were not good, pizza was good, but not great. Second try was salads. My wife had antipasto; I had the steak salad. They were very cheap with the ingredients. Antipasto — I think had half a slice of genoa salami and streak look like steak-umm(gross). The third try was my favorite — on a way back from Mass. we were very hungry so we placed a to go order for us and kids. When we got home, we realized that we were shorted a meal and one salad was wrong, so I called them and ask them if the can deliver the missing meal. The guy that answered the phone said that they have a new girl that is training and that she probably took the order wrong but we would still have to pay for the new order and delivery… and that would be after we waited 30 min for the food to come. Clearly we are done with Sophia’s. There is plenty of other places in Wethersfield to try.

I can’t figure this place out. It’s got all the ingredients of a hometown pizza place but it still feels boring and ignored. PRO: Good food Place is always empty. I rarely bump into another customer, even if I sit down and order a meal Price point is appropriate Menu options are fair for the genre CON: Inside is boring, but will definitely make you think it’s a pizza place Menu feels short. Never got the impression that they have a specialty dish either. Food can be a little greasy Place is always empty. I rarely bump into another customer, even if I sit down and order a meal.

I was the only one in the dining room so it shouldn’t have been hard to be attentive toward me. Waitress brought me my order then diaapeared until it was check time.

This is greek food not italian and for the same price you can go to Denovellis or wethersfield pizza house and get twice as much food and better quality. was not bad food but not impressed

Coming from NY(Long Island still counts), I am somewhat choosy with my pizza. I like my pizza to be a chewy thin crust that is obviously handmade with fresh quality cheese, sauce, and toppings… There are some pizza joints that can bring the fresh quality, but lack in the crust… There are some that can get the crust right, but the cheese or sauce is off… You have your obvious favorites out there like a Pepe’s, but I needed to find a place a bit more local and not as well known for your standard middle of the week after-work pie. After multiple fails with other places, Sofia’s has turned into that spot. Crust is key and they do it right here… Just the right amount of chewy vs. crispy. You can tell that they don’t do frozen here. Sauce has some good tomato flavor and they ladle on the just the right amount and the cheese is the same. Toppings can be a little spotty perhaps… they tend to be frugal with the amount they will put on. This may be a positive or a negative depending on your thoughts on over saturating your pie with toppings… I like a light touch actually, but your mileage may vary. Bottom line is that Sofia’s makes a very good pie if you are looking for a place for take-out or pick-up service. Can’t speak for delivery as I prefer to go get my pie… cheaper and I’m not at the mercy of the driver for my pie(which may be a problem here based on other reviews). I’ve actually come in once or twice with my family to sit down and have a pie in the restaurant. Be mindful that this a strip mail pizzeria, so don’t come expecting five star ambience or service. It’s not that bad actually in relation to similar type places and they have a full Italian menu on tap and serve beer /wine. Can’t speak to the other offerings as we only do pizza here. I will say that the service has not been stellar either time… it’s competent. I would guess from the people working there that this is a first generation family business… so the servers are the younger kids in the family that are not going to have the polish of a more professional staff. It’s not a bad experience, mind you, but I can see the point of other reviewers here. Last thought here: I keep a few key take-out restaurants in my phone for when I’m out and need a meal on the fly. Sofia’s is one of three restaurants in Wethersfield to have that honor. So I guess that is saying something.

The waitress was trying to be nice but she had an attitude. I think at one point she even rolled her eyes at me. Maybe she was having a day but I see other Unilocalers aren’t thrilled w/the service here either. Thats too bad cause the food was good. The Pizza was delish, this was my very first Buffalo Chicken Pizza ever in my life and it was tasty.

The food at sofia’s is AWESOME, the service is TERRIBLE. Sofia’s really does use fresh high quality ingredients. The food is always great and cooked properly. However, their service and delivery is terrible. They tell everyone that it will be ready in 40, the first time it was delivered 10 mins past that, making it 50 mins before we got food. The second time we ordered, they dropped off half the order, and came back 20 mins later with most of the remainder of the order, only to have to come back a third time to bring the last part, about 5 mins later. If you want the best quality, have time to kill, order from sofia’s but check your order before the delivery person leaves.
