Okay this place is definitely overrated or just has customers who are extremely loyal. So let’s start with the location, it is a small whole in the wall that only does tacos in a variety of different meats. I happened to go there for lunch during peak time and realized that there was only one customer. I assume I got lucky and avoided the crowd because the salsa bar was empty and had some old jalapenos that looked unappetizing. The restaurant itself looked a bit dirty and grimy like they just quickly mop the place but never give gets a deep clean. They do have some really cool paintings but not cool enough to come eat here for just that. I placed my order and asked for 2 asada, 2 carnitas, and 2 pastor tacos and salsa on the side. I received my plate shortly and was disappointed after the first few bites of each taco. The meat to tortilla ratio was off and I was hoping for more meat. Also the meats were bland and lacking in seasoning and flavor. The red salsa I was given had no kick to it and the salsa station had no other options and I was just too lazy to ask for another option to cover up the lack of flavor. So I give them 2 stars because of the cleanliness and the lack of flavor but the food was not terrible just whatever.

I’ve only tried the asada, chicken, and al pastor tacos. Out the three the only one I liked were the al pastor. I still give this place a 4 because those al pastor tacos are delicious and the price is great. I also love their salsa. The parking sucks though, and the place is not anything to write home about. It gets hot in this place if you visit during summer.

TACOSTACOSROCKOS!!! This place is awesome! Al pastor tacos & asada are my favorite! AND you have to get them with everything on them… even if you don’t really like onions like me! Too bad they are closed on Monday’s…

Cash only! Really good! Better than King Taco for sure! The dining area is really basic; booths only. Limited seating.

Good tacos, prices are more than fair for a brick and mortar taqueria. It’s cash only, but worth it! Try the tripa and Al pastor tacos. You won’t regret it.

Best Tacos on planet EARTH! I have been going to Chemas for over 15 years, since the late 90’s and there tacos have been spot on every single time. I now live about 30 miles away from this spot and its the only place I will go out of my way for a good taco on my day off. Totally worth the trip. Do your self a favor and get some TACOS! AMAZING!!!

This place is overrated! Tacos aren’t that great. Chorizo tacos were practically burnt and the carne asada taco was undercooked. Salsa tastes more like biting into a tomato since it didn’t have a single ounce of spice. Never coming back here again!

Definitely overrated! Where do I start? Hmm… Let me start by saying that this place is suppose to be a place where they specialize in tacos(Tacos are the only food on the menu!), and you would think they would have great tacos… WRONG…The tacos sucked. I ordered 2 Asada and 2 Al Pastor tacos, both meats were meh. Parking can be a nightmare. Location sucks. Dirty. Bad Customer service.

LOVE this place, Tacos are amazing. I’ve been coming her since I was a kid. Asada tacos are the best. I love their salsa and the pickled onions/carrots on the side. The best street tacos in Whittier. I wish I lived closer! Parking lot can be a bit crowded, but it moves fast and most people are in-and-out.

A handful of friends and I went running at a nearby trail and couldn’t decide on where to eat after and eventually decided to try this place out.(I’m sure everyone’s been in this situation before) I was absolutely blown away by the quality(and the price!) of the tacos! Everything from the carne asada to the buche were amazing. All the tacos were slathered in this wonderful sauce that gave them a bright texture and slightly sweet flavor. The meat was done perfectly! Sadly, the parking situation was a little tricky, and the horchata left a lot to be desired.

Ok, so i finally tried this place, and i gotta say there tacos are good. Its a small place not fancy at all. But the tacos are dam good, and there Aguas frescas are good too. The only thing i find inconvenience is that they don’t take ATM. only cash.

Word on the street is this is one of the top taco joints in Whittier, so I dropped by during lunch to check it out. Food: I ordered the carne asada and al pastor tacos. Boy, these bad boys were filled to the brim with meat for only $ 1.30. The carne asada gets four stars for being tender and juicy. As for the al pastor… my first one gets SIX stars. I can’t even describe how good it was. The other two unfortunately had lots of burnt pieces of meat. Nevertheless, I shall return in pursuit of the perfect al pastor. Parking: there’s a small area in front where people haphazardly park. Otherwise there’s plenty of street parking Service; a bit slow during the lunch rush(~15 minute wait)

I arrived first. Sitting semi-comfortably at an outdoor picnic bench and reading a dog-eared paperback of «Motherless Brooklyn,» I waited, starving. But soon(about 25 pages in) they arrived, one after another: a motley crew of picante-fueled taco enthusiasts, with Sarah A. and Andrew K. at the helm. Each of us – tried-and-true cilantro gurus, I’m sure – mapped out and prepared for an aggressive descent upon five of the most notorious taco shops in Whittier and Hawaiian Gardens. None of us knew what we were truly up against. But we did know things were about to get very ugly, very quickly. With napkins piled high, Vince V. flanked left while Karina C. went in hot!(I took refuge amidst the safety of others.) And«The Crawl,» it commenced. 1. Arturo’s Puffy Taco: 2. Tacos Baja: 3. La Victoria Taqueria: 4. Chema’s Tacos: Tripas(small intestines), Cabeza(head), Sesos(brains), Buche(stomach): These are some of the almighty tacos – lit-up upon Chema’s menu board – that I didn’t try.(I shared, instead, a Carne Asada Taco – amazing still, but familiar.) Looking back now and giving it a second thought, I really should have been more open-minded. Normally, I am. But not having been more adventurous in the face of highly-respectable Unilocalers sickens me. I failed. I failed badly. Of course, I could repent. I could return, ask for forgiveness, and serve my penance by ordering whatever I please. Couldn’t I? But it wouldn’t be the same, I guess. I mean, this was«The Crawl,» wasn’t it? Ordering something unfamiliar, perhaps something unusual, something exciting: This was the appeal! This was Chema’s offering! This was my chance! But, instead, I cowered, played it safe. I knew it. Andrew and Sarah knew it. And Chema’s as sure as hell knew it. Next time… there WILL be a next time. Redemption! 5. Tacos San Pedro:
