Sadly, this lovely little shop is due to close in a few days… December 31. They don’t know if or when it will reopen.

This has got to be one of the best kept secrets in the Colonial Williamsburg Area. I travel the state of VA quite a bit and whenever I’m in the Williamsburg area, it is a MUST stop. The décor is classy and trendy. The original artwork, by Connie Desaulniers, gives the place a great vibe. The Tribe Cookies are my all time favorite cookies in the whole world. A huge thick cookie made with Lemon Zest, Pistachios, White and Milk Chocolate baked to perfection. If you have never experienced recipes created by world renowned chef, cookbook author and owner, Marcel Desaulniers, do yourself a favor and stop in here next time your in the area. Your taste buds will thank you! 5 Stars for Décor. 5 Stars for Service. 5 Stars for Taste.

Like others said, the selection is limited, but everything I have tried at MAC has been exceptional. I would suggest liking them on Facebook as they regularly post their specials, which tend to sell out quickly. MAC is right by the College and Colonial Williamsburg so if you have 5 or 10 minutes I would definitely suggest stopping in for a little treat, checking out the cute store, and chatting with the awesome staff.

I wish there was an option for 4 ½ stars. The cookies here(and the chocolates) are amazing. The only drawback is the parking, which can be challenging.

The cookies are excellent and come highly recommended; they were moist and decadent albeit a tad pricey. The chocolate cake was amazingly rich and chocolatey. A bit much for me, but the kids loved it. The staff was pleasant and the environment was welcoming and clean.

So many sweets and all so so good. Get the hot chocolate if you’re into really thick and coco-ey drinks. They also have a great tea selection. Golly Polly doodles are rich and heavy, definitely something to tribe. Their cookie selection is also unique. My favorite is the Tribe cookie which has a bit of lemon in it.

Woohoo! Goodbye milk chocolate! Hello swiss chocolate that isn’t overly sweet. I’m super impressed with mad chocolate. We sampled a slice of cake, tribe cookies, bourbon oatmeal, and coffee beans. Everything was excellent. The staff was all very friendly. The décor was amazing. I loved everything about this place. Can’t wait to to come back.

An adorable abundance of chocolate indulgence! And wine, no Moscato though which was disappointing(I prefer the sweet stuff with my sweets) I love this place, cute & artsy interior with some of the best chocolate desserts I’ve had in a long time. I chose Mrs. D’s chocolate chip cookies, the double MAD brownies(2 fudge brownies layered with ganache) and a slice of chocolate(celebration?) cake that will remind you of the«death by chocolate» recipe but more chocolate-ly, yum, get there, a tad pricey(nearly $ 8 for the slice) but well worth the cost! I’d love to try their savory options when I’m back in the area.

Had two fantastic visits to the shop today — the owner recognized me from my last visit ten months ago! Had a solid cup of coffee and delicious homemade raspberry jam on my toast. I decided to swing back after an event and Connie(she introduced herself) opened up the store even though it was ten minutes after closing time. She unpacked a bunch of the items she’d already out away for the day and chatted with me or several minutes — so courteous! But the real reason for 5 stars — the brownie I got was easily one of the best I’ve ever had.

I went here a couple days ago with a huuuge sweet tooth! First of all I love the location because it’s nestled right near Colonial Williamsburg. The outside is nice and bright, you cannot miss it. The inside is cute, very artsy and the staff there is just so helpful. The lady making and baking the treats greeted us as we browsed the displays. The café was was busy lots of tourist and locals alike just chatting it up so I was very hopeful looking around. Maybe, I’m a bit finicky but I found the menu a bit confusing and half the stuff on the menu wasn’t on display. Regardless, I was able two pick up to separate brownies on display as well as a peanut butter cup. We took our orders to go and I tried the peanut butter cup first. Then I took a nibble of the all chocolate brownie and one that had some nuts and caramel. I found the chocolate especially the peanut butter cup to be extremely sour. I only took one bite and left the rest. The brownies were a bit mushy and wasn’t a fan of either. Overall, I’d definitely come back just to make sure I give such a unique spot in the Burg a second chance. I like the atmosphere and the people working there so it’s be a shame if the sweets always taste like that. I’m guessing it was an off day or maybe they were rushing?

This place has great cookies! We devoured a bourbon oatmeal and chocolate chip cookie for an afternoon pick-me up. Wonderful chewy, thick texture. We were also able to sample the tribe cookie and brought home a black mamba to eat the next day, both also very good!

We stopped by MAD while in Williamsburg on a shopping day. I had heard about this place and decided to take a detour on the way home. Man am I glad I did! Mad About Chocolate has landed on my Must Do list from now on! I had one of the most decadent brownies I have ever had in my life. It was too good to be real! Hubby had a cookie — and OMG I don’t mean just any cookie — it was A COOKIE. Just remember the saying«If you are going to sin; sin boldly.» And my friends when you visit MAD — be prepared to SIN!!!

I’ve eaten at Mad About Chocolate three times in the past two weeks and each time, it has been delectable! First of all, the storefront is just adorable and beckons you to walk inside to discover what treats await. The non-sweet selections are limited but can’t be beat … hot pots, quiche-like creations, and soups. The portions are filling but not over the top. This is not a white tablecloth type of place but I have had business and casual lunches and each one works. Despite it being pretty small and busy, I’ve never had to wait for a seat. This really is a best-kept secret and is becoming less and less secretive, which is wonderful for the community.

A jewelbox of a store dedicated to all things chocolate(with a few healthy salads and veggie entrees available for good measure) This is worth a special trip when visiting the Williamsburg area– it is located right near the William & Mary campus, so close by downtown but not strictly in the historic area. The cookies were amazing, even the plain olé chocolate chip with walnuts which frankly I did not expect to be so bowled over by the big chocolate chunk taste and perfectly chewy texture. I bought a 1 pound bag of special chocolate discs(basically oversized chocolate chips, but they melt more easily) to take home and these have made the BEST desserts, vastly superior to even quality commercial chocolate in the marketplace. For $ 8, this was a steal.
