Stopped here after 2.5 hr trip and looking for a good BBQ ribs. We ordered a full rack of ribs and a combo and everything tasted the same the sauce was very sour the ribs were over cooked and sides where tiny. Over priced BBQ. I would avoid this place next time.

The food here is unremarkable, although I would say the brisket sandwich was pretty good. The brisket is very tender and flavorful. The ribs are chicken are also good but nothing to write home about.

This is like a fast food style BBQ joint. There are much better options in Williamsburg. Will never go back.

I really don’t know if they can call it bbq. The food is bland. Little or not smoke taste. Bread was stale. It tastes like microwave bbq from the grocery store. Their food is like what McDonald’s is to hamburgers. Will not visit anymore — will venture out to other bbq places in Williamsburg.

My family and I have been going to Pierce’s for over 30 yrs. Prior to their effort at the Waterside downtown. We love the food here! Excellent jumbo pulled pork sandwich. Clean and yummy. Crowds can get large in summer.

Trough feeding at its best. Large crowds processed through quickly for decent food ordered at the counter. If you like food consumed from paper bags, you will like it. The quality has suffered over the years. Still a decent quick meal in a very very very casual environment.

I recently visited Pierce’s Pitt barbecue. It was a weekday lunch time. It was still packed. I actually drove away and came back later. However, I called ahead and ordered something to go. That was very convenient. Their barbecue flavor is honey-based. I’m more of an eastern North Carolina barbecue kind of guy. I did however find the pulled pork barbecue to be delicious. Everyone was very kind. And the price was fair, if not cheap.

WORSTSAUCE I’VEEVERTASTED. Who the hell puts cinnamon in a bbq sauce? First of all i don’t enjoy writing a bad review but i feel like i need to warn people. Like others have said the staff was nice, the restaurant clean, and the place was busy but does any of that matter if the food is mediocre as hell? I really wanted to like this place but i knew i was in trouble when i saw the menu. A brisket combo for $ 17…yes you read that correctly(see pics). I was starving and just visiting Williamsburg so I figured why the hell not let’s go for broke(ba-dum-cha) and got the brisket, green beans, baked beans, and mac n cheese. By the way my $ 17 didn’t get me a drink, a roll, or a tasteless cookie. I’m supposed to pay extra for a damn roll? Nice. The Brisket portion size was good and it was ok but dried out. No juicy flavorful fat on it… no rub added… nothing. At least they didn’t pre-sauce it like they do the other meats or i would have had to return it. How about giving customers a little bit less of that dried out meat and dropping the price to around $ 12? Just an idea. The baked beans and green beans had no love in them… just straight out of a can. The mac n cheese was about a 4 out of 10 on the flavor scale… not awful… just there. My friend got the bbq chicken sandwich combo and barely ate half of it even though he too was starving. The sandwich came pre-sauced which ruined it, that sauce is foul. The fries were just generic crinkle fries and the cookie tasted worse than a KFC cookie… my sympathies if you have experienced that first hand. As another reviewer stated this is bbq done fast food style. What he neglected to say is that it doesn’t come at a fast food price. They keep the sauce in one of those hand pump ketchup squirters. What does that tell you? But hey what do i know? This place stays busy. I guess people in Williamsburg haven’t tasted REAL bbq and will settle for this. They can have it.

This place was AWESOME!!! I got their BBQ Chicken, hush puppies, collards and it was PERFECT! I could have eaten so much more. I can’t wait to adventure back there-we stopped here on the way to Richmond after I was told I absolutely had to. The seating was horrible on a Saturday… like almost every seat in the house was taken and the bathroom was really small to be honest. They made the food really quickly, honestly-it is probably better to take it on the road.

pork barbeque was premixed with a heavy hand used in saucing it . Barbeque done fastfood style. I think the hushpuppies and cole slaw were good, although not enough cole slaw. I really wish the pork was served without sauce and allow the customer to choose the sauce level. the place is clean and mostly self serve so nothing to rate with the sevice except it was fast about 5 min wait to pick up at counter.

Great option when staying at Woof Lodge. The brisket is our favorite. The ribs are tasty though a touch dry. The pulled pork sandwich is good. For sides, we’ve tried mac n cheese, baked beans, hush puppies, and Brunswick stew. All were good to acceptable. Nothing fantastic but good enough to satisfy the crew. Food and restaurant is 3.5 stars. Bump to 4 stars for location.

If you like vinegary than the pull chicken and pork for you. The pork shank was the best for me along with macaroni and cheese. Collards and muffin ok.

Excellent barbeque! It’s Carolina-style, I think, but — unlike what I usually think about Carolina-style BBQ — not too vinegary; instead, it was a perfect balance between the sweetness and the smokiness. The food is wonderfully flavorful. The pulled pork sandwich was excellent with the cole slaw on top; this is the highlight to me – I’ve had the pulled chicken also and, while tasty, it doesn’t come close to the quality of the pulled pork. The baked beans side(cooked with cut up hot dogs) reveled on the edge of being too sweet but held back and was very enjoyable. I do like my iced tea sweet, and Pierce’s delivers here also, although I did use about four fifths of a glass of the sweetened tea to a fifth of a glass of the unsweetened to find the perfect balance for me. Pierce’s is a decent-sized place, with a great, comfortable, established, neighborhood feel. It’s dark in the main dining room, but not too dark. The staff is friendly, helpful, patient, and conscientious.

I’ve been here multiple times but a friend and I happened to have a early lunch here and he’s never been here before so we decided to eat here. The brisket was done very well especially smothered in their BBQ sauce and hot sauce. Collard greens are to die for, I love greens. Macaroni and cheese had nothing special to it. Baked beans had me going! They added hotdogs to it! I love baked beans with hotdogs or ground beef mixed in. Overall it was ok, but I don’t think I would drive from Virginia beach to eat here maybe before or after the Prime Outlets in Williamsburg, VA.

Fan-frikkin-tastic. All the mains and sides were excellent right down to the collard greens and cole slaw. Great mac ‘n cheese, too! But the star of the show? The MEAT! The Pulled pork is truly excellent(you don’t even need sauce — but the sauce is great, too.) My choice? Truly remarkable PORKSHANKS. Do not miss this place! Brava!!! I am craving more Pork Shanks right now. And next time I gotta try the ribs.

Pierces is a mainstay in my family when it comes to good ‘que in Virginia. Don’t complicate what you order. Its simple. The pulled pork and the sauce are the star of the show. The sauce, which is a uniquely Virginia sweet vinegar, compliments the pork beautifully. Order the JCs Special for $ 8.75 plus tax, which includes the pulled pork sandwich(order it with onions and slaw), french fries(need salt), a cookie, and a drink. Its a great meal that I must have whenever I’m in the area.

If I could dole out a 2 ½ here, I absolutely would. The food is not great, but the service is pretty top notch. The thing is that none of the food was bad, it was just boring. I sampled the brunswick stew, which is just vegetable soup with some chicken added in. That’s probably not their fault. I ordered the bbq chicken sandwich with fries, and my party got some onion rings and some mac and cheese. The onion rings were AWESOME. They had the perfect crisp level and I think they were using a more mild onion? Whatever with that however, though, because that is a damn fine onion ring. The mac and cheese was a little lame. The cheese had a congealed quality to it and it was just very bland. My bbq chicken sandwich. Whaaaaaaat a let down. It had no smoke flavor or any indication that it was at all barbecued meat. You could shred a plain chicken breast and coat it in their sauce and that’s what you’re getting. I had a bite of my mother’s cheeseburger and that was pretty solid? The barbecue sauce is terribly sweet. To be honest, I’ve never had such a sweet barbecue sauce. I’m not sure what brand they’re going with or if they’re making it themselves, but it’s not good. The fries were fine? Overall, that’s all I can say. At best, the food is fine. The service was pleasant and fast. The manager even came around to ask everyone how everything was, which was surprising given the fast food atmosphere. I’d probably eat here again, but I’d definitely try out other meats.
