My sons and I tried The Library because of the advertised gyros and pizza and we were disappointed in both. Neither was terrible, but neither was very good either. The gyro was made with pre-formed meat — not from a spit. There was a tiny amount of meat, one slide of tomato, and an obscene amount of very weak tzaziki sauce(so much that I had to wipe it to the side of my plate before eating). The pizza was mostly dough and lost flavor as it cooled. The service needs some as well. We ordered drinks, an appetizer, and our entrees at the same time. The drinks came right away, but the staff lost of our appetizer request and didn’t realize it until our entrees came and we asked about the appetizer. To her credit, the waitress apologized, brought our appetizer, but did not charge us for them. I was happy for this because the appetizer turned out to be the best part of the meal.

I took our family there, on my wife’s recommendation. she had gone there years ago as a student at William and Mary. My first clue for the type of experience we were about to encounter was being handed menus by the guy behind the counter, who would not seat us until we had ordered.(Kind of backwards, or is it me?) We ordered pizza and had the wings as the appetizer, which was our second mistake. My wife bit into her wing, which was RAW., causing her to become sick to her stomach, unable to eat the rest of her meal. The other wings weren’t much better. the guy behind the counter was the owner, as it turned out. He took the remaining wings, said he recooked them, and gave them back to us. YUCK! The best thing I can say about the pizza that it was hot. Upon paying, he didn’t even ask how our visit was. I guess he got the hint then he saw I didn’t leave a tip. If you’ve never been here before, save your money, and spend it just down the road at the College Delly.

I can’t give a review on the food because the man who reluctantly sat us tossed our menus on the table and mumbled as he walked away, «it’s going to be a while before I get to you guys… Just so you know.» There were two other people in an otherwise empty restaurant. We didn’t bother to stick around to experience the long awaited food this rude man was promising, as they obviously had a strong aversion to customers seeking lunch at 11:30 in the morning.

My wife and I wanted to try sonething different so we stopped in here for dinner. Ordered 2 appetizers, 10oz NY Strip and Shrimp, Crab and Clams dish. Everything was to our liking and no complaints here. We wanted to go somewhere different for ice cream, but was tempted to try their Cheesecake. We were glad we did … it was creamy, very tasty and delicious. I’m from New York area and I’ve never had cheesecake as awesome as this place!!! In closing, the food was great, everything eaten tasted fresh and great. Service was great, would recommend and come back again. Place looked clean, had a number of TV’s for your viewing pleasures and a small bar, if you care to drink. Not a drinker but thought it was a nice option for those who like alcohol with their meal. BTW: very friendly and nice staff … they were very attentive. Not sure what happened to other« Unilocalers» but my experience was wonderful. Thank you, thank you. Would definitely come back and bring my family here.5

Awful experience. Mai, our server, was the rudest person I’ve ever met. She wouldn’t even deliver our check, and told us to go tell the to go person what we ordered to pay and leave. We were told to «wrap it up» an hour before they closed(after being there for one hour playing pool and having a drink apiece). Basically we got kicked out. Not because we were being disruptive, but because they had rented the restaurant out to a fraternity and couldn’t give us a head’s up. Unprofessional to the max. I’ll never return. And Mai, find a new career. You obviously don’t understand customer service.

I only came here because I had a coupon. Next time I would rather pay full price somewhere else. Service average, atmosphere and food way below. Says«family restaurant» but they have nothing but booze and soda to drink.

I’ve ordered food here before and it’s average for the price. Stopped by here a few nights after work for a drink and it was just OK. Typical Williamsburg bar. But then, one majestic Friday night my buddy convinced our group to go there, and holy shit… This is probably one of the most ridiculous places I’ve been since my transplantation to VA. The clientele and atmosphere were unlike anything I’ve seen in Williamsburg. It felt like I just stumbled into a basement party in Northeast Philly. It was hot, it was dirty, it was loud, it felt like there could have been a stabbing any second. My exotic white boy attire and dancing ability, similar to that of a 40 year old woman who drank too many glasses of white zinf at a wedding, made me an instant hit with ladies. Multiple middle aged women in leggings two sizes too small, transforming their midriffs into cornucopia of exposed flesh, rubbed their amazing bodies all over me. It was pure bliss. I drank what the locals drank, an elixir known as Blue Motorcycle. After one, I was intrigued and felt accepted, after two I was left with a fuzzy feeling in my mouth and a strong desire to have another, after the third I blacked out. The grime, dirty dancing, and increased likelihood of witnessing a grievous attack brought me back home to the bowels of Philadelphia. Thank you Library Tavern.

Décor leaves much to be desire, but the crab legs were very clean and tasty. More of a pizza and beer joint. Close to our hotel so that it was very easy to get to.

My family and I went there for dinner after spending the day at Busch Gardens. we decided to visit the Library Tavern b/c we, no I thought that a small local place would have great food… I was oh so wrong! We ordered our food and the service was nice; our waitress was great. We ordered three«very different» meals and each meal was bland. I mean no flavor whatsoever… my gyro, my wife’s chicken wings, and my son’s grilled chicken breast was devoid of any taste… the store bought fries were the best tasting item on our plate; and they didn’t even put seasoning salt or salt on those either… he even mentioned that his chicken tasted like scrambled eggs… needless to say that this was our first and absolute last time visiting«The Library Tavern.»

4 stars is generous, I really give it 3 ½. I like this place but it could be better. If you call yourself a tavern you need to have more than 4 macro, overpriced beers available. Other than that, the food is pretty good(I recommend the gyro and fries) and I like the funky atmosphere. The patio is great as well on a nice day or evening. Yes some of the waitresses don’t understand English too well but they are nice and do well enough. If they’d just improve the beer selection then this would be a really great place.

We take a lot of vacations and invariably we end up getting delivery at least once or twice wherever we stay. This was probably the single best experience we’ve ever had with a delivery place. We ordered a 6′ pepperoni pizza for the kid, a bacon cheeseburger with fries for myself and the wife got something called the King Arthur sandwich. The pizza’s dough was puffy, light yet dense with an excellent chew to it. Sauced and proportioned with just the right amount of cheese and pepperoni. I’d love to try one of their large pizzas. The bacon cheeseburger was cooked perfectly… the bun was not your run of the mill sesame seed bun… seemed more like a sourdough ciabatta style bun, different and very very good. Lastly, the fries. They reminded me of Long John Silver’s or Captain D’s fries… you know the ones with the odd little bits of crumbs attached, etc? Just excellent and fast delivery too. Of course we stayed in Williamsburg in March, not exactly peak season… but they did an awesome job. So hopefully, they’ll be able to deliver the same quality and speed during peak season for others. If they do… they’ve got a real winner in my opinion. The only downside is their menu is almost impossible to find. The in room menu was supposed to have their menu attached but was missing apparently. They have no useful website with no menu easily found anywhere online. We ended up just calling them and asking over the phone to describe a few of their menu items. Which they did very happily. Very friendly too!

We were there late, but the service was fast and the food was good. They were setting up for some sort of dance at the end of our visit and had the door open and it was cold outside. Other than that, the experience was good for a quick but decent meal.

Bad experience. One order never came, and another was first sent to another table by mistake, and not brought to ours until after that person took a bite to discover it wasn’t what they ordered. Waitress gave it to us with a bite taken out. Manager was rude, didn’t care, very little english, we never got another, we refused to pay for it. Food that did arrive was expensive, salty, and greasy. Place is dirty.

We went there for lunch after visiting Colonial Williamsburg. There was only one other table occupied at 2pm on a Sunday. I ordered the Hemingway sandwich(turkey, ham, Swiss) and asked for it COLD. It came out HOT but was still very good, one of the better sandwiches I had! Service was average and I probably go back if I lived closer.

Service was nice and seated my family. The place is very nice and the meal was great! The portion size was just right for lunch and the price was not to bad either. Definitely keeping this place in mind when we come back to Williamsburg again.

Service was terrible. There were only maybe 2 other tables but the we only saw our waitress twice, once to take our order and once to bring out the food. No water refills, and no where to be found when I needed a check and a take out box. On top of that, the waitress forgot to put in my order so I didn’t get my sandwich, which worked out because the pizza was pretty good and I shared it with my friend. Foodwise, pizza is pretty good. The gyro my brother ordered was very bland and mostly lettuce, not much meat at all. The hot wings were terrible. The service was some of the worst I have ever experienced.

The sandwiches are not that great. In fact other than one pizza, i’ve never had an amazing meal. It’s not a bad place to grab a drink. There are always plenty of Eastern Europeans, who are in town working, that make it a pleasant mix. It is a bit sketchy sometimes.
