What a wonderful discovery!!! I’m on a personal journey of searching and sampling vegan cheesesteaks because isn’t that what you do in your spare time?! Goat was wonderful. I went for an early solo dinner and met a group of welcoming staff, especially my waitress Emily. So cozy inside, the décor was pinterest worthy and the staff walking by would make small talk. I appreciated their warmness. My meal consisted of the Seitan cheesesteak, the house made pickles and a side salad. The cheesesteak was delicious, full of flavor, requiring zero ketchup, a rarity for me. The roll was fresh and the onions were on point! The salad… yum! The raw sunflower seeds with green goddess dressing was a great side to my cheesesteak! Oh and those pickles… Goat has their pickle game on lock!!! Curry, kimchi and garlic carrots were all delicious and fairly priced at $ 5. If not for Unilocal,I would have never come across this hidden gem. Situated in a small shopping center I couldn’t predict Goat being so damn adorable inside. Perfectly quaint, I hope to see this place thrive. I’m not sure about the area, as I’ve never even been to this area of Wilmington, but when you have such wonderful service/great product… how can you not succeed? I adore restaurants that cater to both meat eaters and vegetarians alike! While I look forward to trying more of that scrumptious looking menu I’d like to request a menu addition… Seitan Buffalo Wings. Please?! 5 stars deserved, see you soon Goat!

Great place for a GNO and/or date night! Nice atmosphere, strong drinks, and reasonably priced. Our waiter was fantastic! Try it for something different. Great vegan variety too. Not a great place for kids though.

Awesome. Our server was super fun, the menu looked great, and I ate THEBEST fried green tomato BLT I’ve ever had. I didn’t drink, but my friend’s raspberry beermosa looked pretty tasty. I’ll be back for sure!

Went for lunch — the mushroom soup was nice — not great. More like a vegetable soup with mushrooms in it. My friend had the crab soup and said it was very good. We split three items from the«snack menu». The Vietnamese Pork Meatballs were tasty but dry. Definitely needed a dipping sauce of some kind. The Porter Braised Short Rib was very good but would have been better with a mashed potato base instead of the strange, tasteless hominy. The Goat Cheese Toasts were the highlight of the three. We also split the apple crisp which was just ok. I wouldn’t be hurrying back soon.

Excellent. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch here. Fried green tomato BLT was beyond excellent. My wife had great mushroom soup. We also had two small appetizers: hummus and beef short rib. Totally worth it. Amazing place. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures. Please do yourself a favor and try this place.

I’ve been to Goat three times over the last six months: once for brunch and twice for dinner. I’ve really loved the vegetarian options that they have for dinner. I’ve tried the veggie burger(good), wild mushroom and chèvre pizza(very yummy) and vegetarian cheesesteak(delicious). The beer selection is pretty decent. The wait staff has always been friendly and attentive too. I really recommend checking this place out. My only criticism is that they should offer more vegan and vegetarian+gluten free options. I have a kosher vegetarian friend with celiac disease and would love it if I could come here with her.

Good prices for good eats! Definitely recommend the goat cheese baguettes as a starter — the honey mixed with arugula is amazing! House salad was DELICIOUS. Good pizza crust, however would not get the jalapeño pesto next time — couldn’t really taste the jalapeño very well. MUSTHAVETHEWINTERSANGRIA! mmmm, we will definitely be back!

Yes, Goat. My friend Ms. Ley sent me the link for Goat via text, and before I even looked at the menu — in fact, I don’t think I did — I said«done» because how can you turn down a restaurant named Goat? I was rooting for a lot of small plates as I was hungry, but wanted to take my time. Goat was able to supply my need for consistent food in the face while giving me the little pleasures of eating different bits. Their selection of cocktails was also really good — so good, in fact, that I don’t remember what we ordered… Oh well. I started with the goat cheese toast — which is really just goat cheese on toasted bread with honey and arugula. For those who say«Why don’t you just make that at home? It’s cheaper.» Well, yes, it’s cheaper, but I do not have a man slave — er, server — who will bring it to me already made, hot, and with a smiling face asking if I want another drink. I will pay for that type of service. Ms. Ley started with the house made hummus, which came in a small jar with house made pita chips. The hummus had a really nice, subtle kick to it, and it wasn’t overpowering at all. The pita chips were lightly flavored and crunchy, as well as being sturdy enough to dig out hummus from a glass jar. Next came the house salad that had more goat cheese, pickled onions, baby tomatoes, and fried green tomatoes with a house dressing. It actually was so simple and so refreshing that I would order this again in a heartbeat. There isn’t anything special about it, though the goat cheese is really good, but who cares? Special can be white linens and gold cutlery or special can be fresh ingredients and crispy fried things on lettuce. The dressing wasn’t overpowering either, which happens a lot with house salads. I then ordered the pork belly pops — which were thick chunks of pork belly on a skewer with a glaze. They were good, if a little overdone — that could’ve been because they were sitting warm on the table for a while before I started to eat them. Not making excuses, but more so saying they weren’t to my liking of being slightly underdone. Ms. Ley ordered the calamari, which like the hummus, also had a nice bite to it. A parsley sauce was drizzled over the pieces, coating some and not others, which was a good thing to me, so that the parsley didn’t become overwhelming. The couple of pieces I had were chewy and warm, lightly battered and a good amount of flavor. Calamari doesn’t have a whole lot of flavor to me — specifically squid — but light and tender fit the bill. I’m not sure if I would order this myself, but the portion size and the soft flavors really worked for what we were going for when we stopped in. I like this place. It’s not far from me, it’s not expensive, and it’s tucked away next to The Comic Book Store, which made my day out of the house that much more expensive. Joining that herd!

Everything we had was very good. It’s a smaller type restaurant with a bar. Like their description says more«low key». It’s nice to have a new different type of restaurant to go to. I def. recommend trying this place out.

A hidden gem. Jalapeño pesto and chicken pizza was phenomenal. Pork belly Reuben was good but gets the nod for its uniqueness. Pickle plate and short rib snacks were perfectly portioned and creative. Yards Brawler on tap! And a fantastic chocolate crime dessert for the knockout punch. If your looking for a break from the same olé, this is the spot!

I’ve dined in a few times and got take out for the first time today. The food is always delicious and creative. Variety for all kinds of diets. The seitan cheesesteak was so good, almost like the real thing. Loved the meatball banh mi. Disappointed the crab soup with the glass noodles is no longer on the menu, that is my boyfriend’s favorite of all that we have tried. There is a variety of beers available as well as a well stocked bar. I really want to try brunch one of these days. Today I got the Korean BBQ wings, although i do love the banana bbq wings(but they aren’t on the menu at this time) and love them, the only thing missing were a small side of veggies i.e. carrot sticks. But the wings are a good size and not overly saucy, which I appreciate. Guess I’m just used to the regular places that have bleu cheese and celery or carrots on the side.

Went in for the first time for take out during my lunch break, service was fast, the price is worth it for the serving size and quality. It’s the first time I had ever seen a vegetarian cheese steak on a menu and they even had vegan cheese available which made my day. It was delicious and the fries were so fresh I just wish I could have finished it all on one sitting. Definitely going back to try the vegetarian black bean burger they suggested, I’m sure it won’t disappoint.

Ordered the pork belly Reuben, bbq wings and the pesto and smoked chicken pizza. I really enjoyed the pork belly sandwich as it was a unique sandwich creation. overall it was a great experience. Interested in going back there!

Location is a little out of the way & I had no cell reception which was odd. As far as the food goes, I didn’t enjoy it at all, neither did my friend. He got the pork belly rueben & his words were«it taste like a mustard & sauerkraut sandwich». I ordered the fried green tomatoes blt, the fried green tomatoes were over fried & flavorless. The pimento cheese on the sandwich was an odd choice that I didn’t care for. On a positive end, the décor is nice & it looked very clean with a well stocked bar.

They tried, but ultimately failed. The vegan«crabcake» itself was fantastic, and the heirloom tomato was beautiful vibrant red and very flavorful. But I must take issue with two things: 1. The bun that came with my otherwise vegan sandwich had an egg white glaze. Not only are eggs decidedly not vegan, but to use eggs for something as ridiculous as a glaze makes it kind of a slap in the face. It serves no nutritional value, and is only meant to make the top of the bun shiny. Somewhere baby chicks are literally being tossed in a wood chipper or buried alive so the tops of burger buns can be shiny? «If only the top of the bun was shinier, I would have been able to enjoy that meal.» Said NOONEEVER. 2. It was served to me anyway, despite the server’s previous assurances that everything would be vegan. «I put the exploitation on the side in case you didn’t want it!» Basically, if it isn’t vegan, don’t write«vegan» on the menu, and verbally assure me «yes it’s all vegan, 100%!» The receipts have a cute picture of a little goat at the top. So, there’s that.

Two words: climate control. Otherwise, Goat rocks. I went here on Friday night(06⁄12) with my boyfriend, my sister and her husband to celebrate their anniversary. My sister and brother-in-law have eaten here a few times since it opened, and our server Brian recognized them immediately and stopped several times at our table to make small talk. He was very prompt and efficient, although I felt bad that he was running around in an 80-degree room wearing solid black clothing. The sweat was pouring down his face by the time he served us the check. We were all starving when we got there, so we quickly ordered three appetizers(called«snacks» on the menu) to split among us: the chicken satay, goat cheese toasts, and the Vietnamese pork meatballs. All three were excellent, especially the meatballs. And the portions were sized just right for us to whet our appetite for the main course. For drinks, I decided to sample a rose wine that Brian said was the featured wine of the day. I don’t recall the name of it, but it was light and fruity, with a crisp aftertaste. Unfortunately, it was also pretty strong, and I found myself getting dizzy and giggly as the meal progressed. I think I should stick to drinking a glass of wine *after* I finish eating a meal. My boyfriend ordered the«Baby Doc» cocktail and enjoyed the contrasting sweet/bitter tastes of guava nectar and rum. My brother-in-law just ordered beer: first Miller Lite, then Yuengling. For our entrees, I was looking forward to ordering the special, which was grilled cod served with scallops over risotto, but Brian sadly informed us they ran out of cod and were offering the dish as steamed scallops over risotto, so I chose that instead. The scallops were smooth and buttery, and the risotto had a rich flavor; I tasted olive oil and a hint of lemon zest mixed in. As hungry as I thought I was, though, I couldn’t finish the meal, although I did eat all the scallops. My sister had the orecchiette with shrimp, roasted tomato served in a lemon butter white wine sauce. She also couldn’t finish everything, but what she was able to eat, she enjoyed. My brother-in-law decided to stick with an option he’s had in the past: meatloaf. I didn’t get a chance to try any of it, since he pretty much inhaled it. I guess that means he liked it. ;-p As for my boyfriend, he decided to get the black bean burger with fries, which he really liked; his only detraction was there was no ketchup served with his fries, and he had to ask for it. We were too full to bother with dessert, but we left promising Brian we’d be back again soon. I’d love to see what Goat has for brunch.

Great to see David Weir back leading a new restaurant– and what a nice job he has done. A much needed addition to the neighborhood, Goat is relaxed and casual with a charming rustic interior. This review is of the Vegetarian and Seafood items, I am Pescetarian and my Wife is Vegetarian. The menu features something for everyone, but the standout here is the house made Seitan. The Vegetarian Cheesesteak is perfection. Just the right seasoning and blend of cheese and seitan on the perfect roll. It’s really nice to see a Chef that is equally as concerned about the Vegetarian customers. His Wife and kids are vegetarian, and we had the chance to speak with both of them during dinner and hear their ideas for the restaurant and menu. This is easily the most Vegetarian friendly restaurant in the area, which was much needed. It’s refreshing to see a Chef really go all out for Veggie flavors and not simply offer a salad as the veggie option. Looking forward to sampling the Buffalo Cauliflower, Pizza, Hummus and salads on future visits. They even have Vegetarian French Onion soup, which is rare– its usually made with Beef stock. Aside from the cheesesteak, we had the house made pickles(excellent) and the goat cheese toasts(very tasty). I eat fish, so I tried the Crispy fish sandwich and calamari. The Calamari appetizer is big enough for two people, so share that with a friend or you’ll be full before your entrée arrives. The crispy fish is a nice take on the fish sandwich, with a spicy remoulade and slaw topping and a layer of smashed french fries underneath. Tasty and filling– and again on the perfect bun.(I didn’t ask whether they made or bring in their bread, but every roll we had was great.) Drink-wise they have $ 8 glasses of wine, and a nice selection. The $ 11 cocktails may be a little pricey for the neighborhood, but they seemed to be selling very well. Best deal– $ 3 Yuengling drafts. We’ve already dined at Goat several times since it opened, and will be back on many more occasions.

The food here is amazing! My daughter, who is a chef, called it chefs’ junk food — the kind of stuff they make for each other when they’re hungry. All I know is it was delicious. We started with the house-made pickles– fabulous! followed by the pork belly Reuben– a great twist on the classic, overflowing with pork and the not too tart homemade apple sauerkraut, wedged in between real pumpernickel bread. Even though the place was nearly full, the food came out of the kitchen super fast. The wait staff was attentive and efficient. Prices were very good for what you get. Very nice beer/wine list, and fun cocktails. I can highly recommend the The Botanist. Can’t wait to go back.

Goat kitchen and bar only opened last week and my coworker was so pumped about this place that I had to try it; my coworkers and I decided to go get lunch there on a Friday; given it was 10 of us, i decided it would be safer to call to make a reservation; they do not take reservations yet but i was informed sitting shouldn’t be a problem and they would get us a table ready; we arrived there around noon and were sited right away; our orders were quickly taken and the food came in pretty quickly considering the size of our group; a lot of items from the menu looked delicious but i opted for the pork belly reuben; it was really delicious and i recommend it if you are not afraid of your diet(cant really think dieting when you order pork belly anyway!) the sandwich also came with french fried and some pickles. These pickles were just good, i really wanted more!!! My coworkers picked a bunch of different items which all looked very good; Service was great and quick, food was great and prices were reasonable; definitely a combination I like!
