Usually, I do not hold out much hope for Wilmington-​based wine shops; either they are your run-​of-​the-​mill shops with the same nationally known brands of uninspired wines and/​or have their wares priced into the stratosphere when compared to other areas, even the PA state stores.
With that said, walking into Swigg today was a very pleasant surprise. The selection in the shop is thoughtfully curated and edited, making it virtually impossible to walk out with a bad bottle of wine, liquor, or beer. This is especially nice to see, as many of the shops with good «selections» are simply those with lots of wine, usually without distinction.
Pricing was also a nice surprise, as they are priced fairly and largely in-​line with what one would see nationally in a brick-​and-​mortar wine shops. This is especially amazing as there are a good number of wine shops in the city that are priced quite highly when compared to their national counterparts.
I would also say that the liquor and beer selections are fantastic and focus on smaller producers, which offer something different than one usually sees locally.
I cannot recommend Swigg enough for locals, as it offers the best selection in terms of quality and is priced fairly.

Owner David G. has hit a home run with this new shop. Selections are well thought out with something for everyone in all price points. Dave and his staff are very well informed and super friendly. They even have a selection of geeky wines for oenophiles like me.

Without doubt, best selection of wine, beer and spirits in entire area. And to boot, most educated owner and salespeople, who you can be assured not only have hand selected each bottle, but know the history of each vintage and brew. And say hi to «Dave» the owner who is just a great guy. My new GO-​TO!

Awesome selection, super helpful. Prices are v reasonable, especially for the customer service you get.
Dave is one of the most knowledgeable guys I’ve met on wine — without the pretension of most — and you can tell he’s passionate about his job by the way he takes the time to explain wines to you.
Highly recommend on any trip to the Delaware area or as a pit stop on I-​95, coupled with Rasa Sayang a couple doors down.

Swigg has all your beer, wine, and spirits needs if you’re looking for something new and different. Whether you want to spend 15 or 50 bucks, they have something for you no doubt. While we were there, some Italian wines and liquor were being offered to taste as well as some cheese that they had for sale. A great pit stop off 95 and perfect for holiday shopping.
