I guess I have been living under a rock by never coming to Andrews Diner in the almost four years I’ve lived in South Florida. I remember driving by many times but never really putting any thought into trying it out, however, my mother in Pennsylvania convinced me to go after seeing it on some Diner«makeover» show. Let it be known I love diners and diner food(I think I say that pretty much anytime I review a diner). The inside had these baby blue walls– not my first choice for a restaurant but whatever. I was greeted by the host who I later found out was a jack-of-all-trades there; running around the entire time I was there, and asked me if I wanted to sit at the bar since I was dining alone. One thing I love about diners and this diner in particular is that diner staff are such an interesting group of people. No nonsense people who are as sweet as they come, but don’t give them any bs and that’s exactly what I got here. My waitress was as friendly as can be, but I could see her attitude shine through while she was talking to the line cooks trying to get the orders out. The food: The pancakes here I think, rather, I know are the best I’ve ever had. They come in an order of three and they are enormous, soft, and fluffy. The only downside is that they give you syrup in a packet/container, it’s not a bottle– I assume to control cost. Would be nice to have a bottle, but oh well. The eggs were done exactly how I asked and they also were on the large side. The sausage patties were nice and spicy but not overly spicy as that’s not my thing. I had a huge breakfast with a drink for $ 12. And I left completely stuffed. The service, food and atmosphere were great. I can’t believe I haven’t been here sooner, but I can tell you one thing, I will be back very, bee soon.

I was having dinner there with three other friends and saw the owner’s wife, a raging neurotic nasty foul mouthed old lady scream at someone because they complained their food was cold. She threatened to throw them out and ban them from coming back. She said«Why the f*ck don’t you go to Peter Pan’s» She proceed to tell one of the guys that he should rethink his relationship with the one complaining about his cold food that he «Is worse then a woman he is just a Prima Donna Fagg*t» She is lucky it wasn’t me because I would have sued her for sexual harassment and discrimination. I hope the victim of her foul sewer mouth takes her to court! She gives all Jewish people a bad name. I will never return to this greasy spoon even if they were giving away there mediocre food!

If there were an option of rating no stars at all that would be my choice. The owners wife is a psycho that walks around ranting and disrespecting customers using words like«you fag, prima donna, he is worse than a woman, etc. My fiancée and I were seated and or order taken. We watched a booth that was seated after get their food first as we watched our plates sit in the window on the shelf that does not have the heat lamps, for 20 minutes before grandpa(the only male waiter) finally got his writing done and brought our plates over. My gyro sandwich was cold and so was my fiancée’s open face roast beef. I sent back my order and told the waiter, who is slow as molasses, no thanks I do not want my dish anymore since reheated lamb dries out and I do not like it that way. He walked away and didn’t even offer to reheat my partner’s. Angelo came over and took his plate and reheated it. When it was brought back to the table I was picking on it and Cruella came over and yells«Are you fucking kidding me, you two are sharing a dish!» I told her what happened and instead of an apology she yells«You don’t like it go to Peter Pan’s, You complain again and I will throw you out and ban you from coming back.» Then she tells my partner«If I were you I would rethink this relationship, he is worse than a woman prima donna!» I don’t know about anyone else but I do not tolerate that kind of disrespect from anyone. I told her she would not have to ban me because I would never step foot into her dive greasy spoon again. The owner’s wife is crazy, rude and nasty. She acted like it was our fault their lame waiter was so incompetent. This lady is out of control and should be committed. So we left, and will never return. Wish I could have given them zero stars, one star is just too many.

Wow. I’m not sure what is going on recently at Andrews Diner! We all know the owners are complete unprofessionals to their employees, however, the food quality has gone from«ok» to absolute crap. I will never return to that sorry excuse of a diner. Some TV show came in recently to give it a «facelift» but some things never change. Geri(the evil wife of the owner, Angelo) is still a raging mess. Kicks customers out and regularly uses the term«fags» to describe her customers. They. Can’t. Keep. Employees. I personally saw Angelo curse out a waiter INFRONTOFNUMEROUSCUSTOMERS! Who the hell does that? Gross reheated food they store day after day until it’s gone. Disgusting! On top of all this, you have to deal with some grumpy, nasty overweight queen at the register! Never again. You’ve disrespected too many people and I’d love to see this place close! Danger! Danger! STAYAWAY!

Andrews Diner consistently provides a great breakfast or lunch dining experience. Great food, awesome service, reasonably priced, and CLEAN! On Saturday and Sunday mornings be prepared for a short wait — It’s worth it!

This is one friendly neighborhood diner. Heard hype about a makeover, not impressed. Still looks like a tired old diner with little charm. Or maybe that’s the charm! Go with low expectations and you may not be disappointed. This is not a gourmet diner. Fairly bland food that will fill your stomach if hungry. Prices are fair and portions large.

We visited for a late breakfast on Saturday, and the place was packed. I can understand why. Seems as though lots of locals are packing the place before Ty Pennington’s makeover. I’m not sure what the place will be like after that, but I can tell you that I’ll be back the next time I’m in Ft. Lauderdale. The service was great, and the food was delicious. Specifically, the grits and biscuits were authentic. I’m not sure that the place needs improving. It’s retro look reminds me of one of my favorite childhood diners. So, be careful Ty Pennington. Don’t mess this up!

In a crazy city like Fort Lauderdale this place is an oasis. Family owed and love that shows in the crowd that calls it home. Delicious food and friendly service. This place has a special place in our hearts.

I thought it was good until I found steel wool in my omelette. The waitress found that interesting and the owner just came out to said that this happens with an strange apology, not coming back here.

My friend and I used to eat here regularly. But today my friend found a piece of steel wool in his eggs. When the owner came out to talk to him, the owner said«it happens… sorry.». Adding insult to injury, he did not offer to drop the charge for these eggs. We wonder what’s going on in that kitchen. Won’t ever be returning since we interpret his remarks to mean that anyone who orders food at his restaurant should expect to find steel wool in the dish once in awhile.

The food was awesome. I had the Greek salad with grilled chicken and my sin raved about his deluxe hamburger. Great experience. Great service. Good price! We plan to return.

Some seriously good diner grub served up with terrific service. Kiddos love that cinnamon toast is on the menu. The rest of us chowed down on delicious omelettes and French toast. This unassuming diner is worth checking out(at least for breakfast).

Had an iced tea and the tuna melt! Best Tuna Melt ever! Rye bread, perfectly toasted, buttery and crunchy, creamy and balanced tuna salad with melted American cheese. For real the best tuna melt ever!!! Served with delicious coleslaw and super hot French fries! He ordered the brisket sandwich, not a crum left! Great diner, can’t wait to return! Next time… PIE!

My fiancée and I were having breakfast one morning and looking over a wedding magazine. The owner came over to our table and yelled at us for reading at the table while other patrons were waiting to be seated. It was very rude! If he would have asked us nicely no problem, but he treated us poorly and like we were doing something wrong for looking at a magazine. Will never go here again! Food isn’t anything special either and the bathroom is dirty.

One thing I love about Fort Lauderdale is going into different businesses where i feel totally comfortable being gay. This is definitely one of those places. Known as one of the gayest Diners in South Florida I’ve been going to this place on occasion when I’m in the mood for Diner food and when I can catch them open. The place looks like it could use a little renovation. The food well it’s Diner food done well. If your craving that Diner burger with a side of fries or a good Diner breakfast with a side of Hash browns and a great gay friendly staff this is the place to go. The only thing strange about this Diner are their hours of operation. On certain days they are only open until 3pm and they are not open 7 days a week. So check to make sure they are open before you go.

Was in the area and decided to try Andrews based on a lot of positive Unilocal reviews… boy am I glad I did! This is exactly what I was looking for, a diner like you would find in NY/NJ(in a good way). I tried the blueberry pancakes(ton of blueberries) and my daughter had a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. She ate the whole thing and gave it an 8 out of 10(you should know that she is somewhat of an expert in egg sandwiches). The table next to me had 4 different types of omelets, they all looked good and they all gave a thumbs up. If you are in the area and are looking for great diner food(nothing fancy), then definitely stop in and give it a try!

From the majority of reviews and its good patron following I can see that most think there is something special about Andrews Diner, but I don’t. It’s nothing but a diner with very ordinary, mostly sub-par diner food flavor having a taste about it barely better than found in your average truck stop. The menu is complete, but ordinary, with nothing I could find setting apart from any other run of the mill average diner. However, on the good side, the portions are big, the wait staff super friendly and the prices cheap. I’ve gone here a number of times and can attest that it has a big following, and as a matter of fact, often times a waiting line just to get into the place, That in itself must attest to something but whatever that something might be it certainly doesn’t pertain to the quality of the food. During my most recent visit I had the clam chowder soup, Manhattan style, which one could easily tell was done in house. The clams were plentiful but the base of the soup watery and flavorless. I also had the dilled chicken salad sandwich. It contained good sized hunks of chicken but again bland and tasteless. I also tried their eggs, sausage and potato; all very diner ordinary with the exception of the sausage being the saltiest I’ve ever come across. As a matter of fact it was so salty neither myself nor my dining companion cared to eat it. Food wise I can’t go more than two stars, but I do have to say that the friendliness of the staff and the generally friendliness of the customers and patrons brings it up a good notch. However, I’m primarily rating food. So, for me, two stars only.
