I’m not sure what took me so long to try Dairy Cream, but I’m glad I did. Located in Windsor Locks near the airport, the location looks like your typical ice cream stand(just larger). There are typically two open windows taking orders, with the day’s ice cream menu by the windows. The ice cream is great. My favorites are the graham central and the Smores(which has marshmallow ice cream). The ice cream is creamy with great flavor, and the toppings are quite good as well. Service is prompt and friendly. Can’t ask for more than that!

Seems to be getting better… have been stopping at Dairy Cream for years, but recent visits seem to be hitting a new level. Enjoyed strawberry soft serve yogurt and it was the #1BESTSOFTSERVE I’ve ever enjoyed… texture was 100% The Best and the flavor didn’t disappear after the first few tastes… all the soft serve is excellent, but this was the best. Always enjoy the chocolate as well as the assortment that varies daily. Portions are generous, selection is great, and service is just really good… pleasant and caring. Keep it up !!!

What a great place to go on a hot summer evening! I will begin by saying that I was so impressed by the friendly, positive attitude of the young girl who took our order. She was full of smiles and who doesn’t appreciate that kind of service? I got a peanut butter/chocolate milkshake which was delicious! The prices were more than fair and the kids size soft serve cone was generous in size! There were also plenty of picnic tables available. I highly recommend this place :-)

Dairy Cream you have a fan! Came here after dinner a few miles away at a friend’s suggestion. I love hard ice cream and Dairy Cream has lots of choices(soft serve, hard ice cream, sundaes, ice cream sandwiches, etc). I went with chocolate chip hard ice cream, my hubby had Oreo hard ice cream and our friend had a vanilla soft serve cone with sprinkles. We all enjoyed our ice cream very much. My chocolate chip was one of the best I’ve ever had. There are benches to sit and enjoy your sweet treat and a private parking lot. The servers were funny and courteous. I’ll definitely be back!

Good soft serve via the flurry, although I didn’t try the hard ice cream, my guests noted its deliciousness. Good value with the medium being rather sizable and roughly $ 4.

AMAZING ice cream! Too often I go to get ice cream at a mini golf soft serve place or some other random ice cream shop where I spend $ 4 on a tiny cone or $ 4 for ice cream that tastes watery and gross. However, the ice cream at this place is amazing and they give you an INSANE amount of ice cream for a large cone that is around $ 3.50 or so. They also accept credit cards, a HUGE deal when you dont want to deal with fumbling around with shoving money in your wallet while holding a giant, rapidly-melting ice cream cone. The reason why this isn’t a 5 star review is that there is ALWAYS a line and even if there are only one or two people ahead of you there seems to be a disproportionate amount of time waiting. I guess this is also just another symptom of their success.

Great place for ice cream and the best ice cream cakes around. I dive in once a week from MA to eat there

Tried this place out a few months ago. It’s pretty inexpensive(cash only) compared to other small ice cream shops I’ve been to. The soft serve tastes pretty good, but the cone is wrapped in paper that is glued to the cone. I’d get it in a cup, next time. There are better places out there for ice cream, but if you’re local this is probably the best. Plenty of parking outside, and a number of picnic benches to sit at.

This place is the best! It has REAL ice cream(not just frozen yogurt) and in the summertime is the most happening spot in East Windsor. Cash only though so remember to stop at an ATM on your way

Great food, great prices, but always a long line. Best times to go are early evening and late at night. I guess the long lines are indicative of the quality of their products. There was a Coldstone that was down the street, but went out of business and a Dairy Queen not too far away, but nothing can really compete with the newly remodeled Dairy Cream.

Had a hot dog here. They have some great ice cream as well. They close for the winter so it really is a spring, summer fall place. Nothing special here but it can be a good stop if you’re close by. Mostly it is an ice cream joint. Not much food to pick from.

We’ve lived in Windsor Locks for almost two years, and it wasn’t until a month ago that we discovered Dairy Cream. For shame! The ice cream isn’t the absolute best I’ve had, but it’s certainly very good, and there are plenty of flavors(both hard and soft serve) to choose from. The building’s façade is cute and vintage-y, and plenty of picnic tables means you don’t have to make a mess of your car upholstery!

A Windsor Locks institution. While it is no Coldstone, Dairy Cream is still a great place to grab a cone and sit out on the picnic benches while the planes come in. It is also right next to the National Guard depot, and before the war there used to be hundreds of heavy vehicles and machinery parked right on the other side of the chain link fence. It was pretty cool to see that, especially as a kid. Hopefully when the war is over the vehicles will be back in the lot. Anyway, Dairy Cream is perennially staffed by enthusiastic workers who keep the long lines moving fast. The treats are a good value for the money on the size-price scale. You will not be dissapointed. If you have a hankering for soft serve and are even remotely in the area, stop by Dairy Cream.

I grew up here so I know there’s a lot of pride in town, and that saying this will inevitably lead to some awkward conversations should any of my local friends read this, but this place is awful. I can’t really say how it stayed in business for so long, but I’ve watched it steadily grow a little bigger each year and I imagine it will still be here when the time comes to poison my grandchildren with disgusting soft serve as well. Soft serve is supposed to be richer and more flavorful than regular ice cream. They serve it warmer than hard ice cream so your taste buds can taste more without being so numbed by the cold. It almost tastes like they capitalize on that and use less sugar here to cut cost, because without toppings this stuff is very bland. The dip they use is also extremely waxy and not very flavorful. Skip the dip. Drown it in toppings in a cup and ask for the cone on the side… or skip the cone altogether. The cones have glue on them. When I tried to peel the paper off of the base it left most of the glue behind, which is weird. I’m sure it’s probably non-toxic, but the paper that sticks to it may not be so good to eat. Trying to pick the glue off with sticky soft serve hands is a chore. Bring water to rinse your hands off afterwards.

great ice cream! Lots of options. They even make their own creations. The service was friendly, the line went fast. I could not have asked for a better experience. The price was pretty good as well. I am glad I traveled the mile further down the road(from friendlies) and came here.

How this place has gotten no reviews so far is beyond me. If you are looking for ice cream, soft serve, milkshakes… whatever, this is the place to be if you are anywhere in the state of Connecticut… or 413 area code of Massachusetts. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and there’s just something about the ice cream [soft serve in particular] that is beyond amazing. It has not changed in all these years, and there’s a good reason for that — it doesn’t matter what flavor you get, its going to be terrific. In short: — I’m a chocolate fan, so I usually get a soft serve chocolate with chocolate shots(chocolate dip is also acceptable, but not as awesome as the seemingly infinite number of shots they are able to stick to one cone of soft serve.) — The portions are huge, so I usually get a small. Its not too much, but much more than a taste. I usually go after dinner so its just enough to hit the spot without me feeling like a complete lardo afterwards. Note: should you go pre-dinner, order up a large. You will not regret this decision. — Go with the intent of sticking around the area for a while. My advice — get your ice cream and head to the end of the runway at BDL. Nothing better than eating soft serve watching a giant 737 fly a few hundred feet over your head. On that note — you have two immediate options: — Taking a right out of Dairy Crème and then taking a left at the sign for the Air Museum(Perimeter road) brings you to the 24 end of runway 6⁄24. I find more planes come in this way, but there are no parking signs every few feet, and state cops that patrol the area regularly, so be prepared to be asked to leave. –Taking a left out of the parking lot will bring you closer to Bradley Bowl and the 33 end of runway 15/33, where I suggest you sit in the parking lot, and(legally, yet less frequently) watch planes come in. So yes, I know that was a slight tangent, but the rush of a plane flying over you is exponentially magnified when you are consuming a giant(or reasonably sized) cone(or cup) of pure Dairy Crème amazingness. Go. Eat. Enjoy. Thank me later.

Can’t believe nobody has reviewed such a landmark ice cream place. There’s nothing fancy or extravagant about dairy cream, it’s just your classic drive up and order at the window ice cream place. They have soft serve in hard pack as well as dips and sundaes. Prices are very reasonable as well.
