Delicious food, beautiful setting with simple, clean, classy lines and a relaxed atmosphere.

We saw the high reviews on Unilocal and decided to stop by. Loved the food, ambiance, service and menu. Would have given higher rating, but they didn’t have my Wife’s tequila.

Dear Owner ~ Train your staff. Being nice is not the same as being competent, sensible or well trained. When I asked out server(who was very nice) long after ordering from the menus we were given, why we weren’t offered happy hour menus or informed of happy hour, he said, «Oh, I thought the hostess would have given you HH menus». He apologized and said he hadn’t put in our entrée orders yet and offered to change the orders if we liked which was very nice. He really tried, but from a sensibility standpoint, it was clear we didn’t have HH menus by simply looking at the table. Again, he was super nice, but he became flummoxed and lost his footing, became awkward and eventually screwed up the order. This I could have overlooked. But… Our hostess, a short, thick, dark-haired girl who’s plunging neckline top showed so much cleavage that every time she came to the table I was tempted to cover her with a tablecloth and explain the difference between a strip club and a restaurant — when asked why she hadn’t given us HH menus with dinner menus curtly replied,” Because there weren’t any left”, as if that was the end of that and turned to leave. I remarked that she could at least have informed us it was HH and offered to send a menu as soon as one was available, to which she responded flatly and without apology or anything remotely solicitous, «Ok», then turned on her heel and walked away. Ok? No, smile, no apology, no acknowledgment? What a bizarre and unprofessional response to a customer who is clearly letting you know they’re unhappy about something. Perhaps this seems nitpicky to some, but these little things are part of the small measures that add up to the sum total experience and frankly, if a server doesn’t offer a HH menu during HH which gives you the option of ordering less expensive items, it gives the impression they’re assuming you’re not aware of the HH prices — and are willfully keeping you in the dark in order to sell higher priced items and ensure a higher tip. As someone who was in the hospitality/resturant industry for more than half my life, I can tell you this goes on all the time and that it p******* me off to no end. It’s incompetent and unprofessional at best if it’s an oversight, cheap and sleazy if it’s intentional. The food — the food could have excused a multitude of sins but frankly, it’s just ok. The fish tacos were pretty good though the dill on the cabbage slaw on the tacos is a little odd and the tomatoes were underripe and tasteless. It’s a good portion(4 small street style tacos) but for $ 14.50, well, meh. The turkey sliders were tasty but the pizza, while having a decent tasting red sauce, was doughy and oily. The green salad was tasty but my caesar was just average, made sadder by the use of packaged, dry and flavorless grated cheese. We may stop in again anther time down the road but this is our second time and so far, it’s been underwhelming. To our waiter with the turquoise studs and beard, you are super sweet and clearly mean well — we appreciate how conciliatory you were and the effort you made. Maybe just be more observant. To the hostess(or better yet, words for the owner to share with his hostess) keep your tits in your top and when a customer approaches you with a concern, acknowledge it and at the very least, make an effort to act like you care — fake it if you have to. There’s a reason it’s called hospitality.

I feel like this is supposed to be the«trendy» spot to go in town and I will say that it’s a cool place, love the décor and style. BUT may not be a great place to bring babies to. I was visiting my girl friend in town along with my one year old and her 5 year old. It was a Wednesday night and they were packed. Waited was okay, about 10 – 15 minutes. We decided to wait by the bar since there were open seats and it was kinda chilly out(8pm?). This guy who looked like a manager or someone didn’t seem like the fact we were waiting there although the kids were pretty well behaved. I just got this odd feelings. Or maybe he just really didn’t want us to wait too long. Who knows. But anyway the food was amazing. I had sesame crusted ahi and oh man the salad came with it was delicious! I’m thinking I’ll have to go back for this entrée before I leave town! Would’ve been 4 star but I didn’t really get a very«inviting» feeling while we were there and the service was kind of cold!

Their pizzas are one of favorites in town even though it is a bit oily; it is the kind with a thin crispy crust and just the right amount of small round pepperoni. Their salads are pretty great when they do it right which is hardly ever. I love the mixed salad with strawberries, grilled chicken and fried bri! However, they would mess up on the salad the majority of time I order it to go. Sometimes the mixed lettuce would be old, flimsy and brown. Other times, they would forget the dressing, give me «fried brie» that is just breading with no cheese inside or forget one of the main ingredients like the chicken or strawberries! Come on it’s just a salad with a few great ingredients, why is it sooooo hard to get right?

The service and Dessert was the highlight for our recent meal at Kin. Sweet potato tots were too sweet for my taste. Our fried Calamari was undercooked. turkey burger was pretty good, but somehow the blue cheese, cherry muddle and spinach didn’t really come together flavor wise. THe flourless chocolate was great, could have use a mint crunch or berry to elevate the flavor. Given the fantastic service, with just a bit more attention to the food, this would really be an awesome restaurant. Otherwise, it’s a solid choice for a meal in WIndsor.

Great food. Great service. They seem to handle their crowds well. We watched lots of people being seated in a timely manner. We were quickly seated as well,(and on a busy Friday night) so well on them. The fried Brie salad was really tasty as was the slightly odd sounding orange and black pizza. The artichoke dip was good but not outstanding. Same for the taquitos. Would definitely go back again. Oh… and cootie catchers… they have cootie catchers. Awesome!

We were headed from EL Cerrito to Mendocino with kids, grandma and our dog. Found KIN on Unilocal as dog friendly. We sat outside in a covered patio. The good was fantastic from the fried pickles, KIN burger, kale salad and the yummy wedge salad. The service was very attentive and thorough. We’ll probably stop there on our way home.

****3.5 stars*** We decided to give KIN another try. We just got into Windsor, our room at the resort wasn’t ready, and we’re a bit hungry. We had a late lunch and didn’t want to eat too much. So we ordered the taquitos, pot roast, beet salad to share. We were hoping it would be better than the last time we visited. It was. This is one of the better restaurants in Windsor. The pot roast was hotter the when we had it last. There is something about the gravy that makes you just want to keep eating it. It’s not the best pot roast but good. The beet salad was well seasoned. Much better than last. But it does look like the beets are thinner sliced. Honestly, the taquitos were pretty good. The crunch and filling was nice and flavorful. We wanted to keep eating at KIN so we just cancelled our dinner reso and ordered dessert. The lemon cheesecake was made in-house with a fruity compote on top. But the buzz kill was the can whipped cream. The coffee was good, but it could’ve been hotter. The service was nice and the server was knowledgeable and the menu than the last time we were in town.

You must eat here if you are in Windsor! We came here on Feb 20th, my boyfriends Birthday. We started with the Seasonal Bruscetta. Amazing is what it was tomatoes and prosciutto. so good… We also shared the Fried Brie, Strawberry and chicken over spinach salad with carmelized onions and poppyseed dressing it was so damn good. For dinner I ordered the Shrimp and Sausage Risotto, very very good… Pete had the I think Ahi tuna crusted in a sesame seed and on a tostada shell with pickled slaw it was the best i ever had… To top it off Pete had a Moscow Mule came in the traditional copper mug, I had a Margarita both very well made. The bartender and manager Taylor was so awesome she catered to us and seemed to be very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks as well as places to go. Taylor thankyou so much you made our visit memorable and of course the food… We did visit the Dry Creek winery and Ian was so nice and said nothing but great things about you. Our server was Kaycee and she was very efficient. We would love to come back soon. I didnt mean to leave out our amazing desert. yummmmy

WHEREMAIKINAT… Excuse the lame joke. Food is pretty damn delicious here. I’ve had KIN twice, and so far, both experiences have been consistently awesome. The first time I came here, I ordered a KIN burger with regular french fries. The KIN burger wasn’t memorable to me, but the french fries were. It is my co-worker’s birthday today, and our little team took her there for lunch. I ordered the Carnitas Sandwich, which is something different cause I usually get a burger, but I gotta switch it up a bit, ya know what I’m saaaaaaying. I got it with french fries, and oh my, this sandwich was yummy! The flavors blended very well, and of course, I got a side of mayo with my fries(don’t hate unless you’ve tried it!). The french fries are so NOMMY! It’s crispy, not burnt, but soft on the inside. MAGIC!!! Service was awesome both times. Our waitress checked us on twice during our meal, which was very lovely of her. My co-worker ordered a turkey burger w/fries and my boss ordered a Buffy Burger w/sweet potato fries– both thoroughly enjoyed their meals. All-in-all, I think this is a lovely place to eat. I wouldn’t eat here everyday cause it’s not cheap. However, as a treat once in a while, it’s the place to go(:

The waitstaff can make all the difference in your dining experience. Read futher to understand what happened. Our waitress was Amber. I only know her name because I asked her. When she would visit our table she never said or did anything to make us feel welcomed. She always left quickly without giving us a moment to say anything. I let her know on three different occasions that our table was uneven and rocking back and forth. Each time I saw her she quickly said she told someone or said, «They haven’t come yet?» and moved on. This made me feel like I wasn’t heard nor cared for. I ordered a glass of the Murphy-Goode Cabernet. It tasted very acidic as though the bottle had been opened for a few days. There was no bread service. I thought most restaurants at least served bread, right? Not here unless they ran out… We placed our orders. The seasonal vegetables we learned were brussel sprouts. We found this out when they were on our plates. Considering that a whole lot of people do not them we should have been told what the options were in advance. When my daughter ordered her pesto chicken sandwich she was told they ran out of fries. Who runs out of fries during the week??? My grandson’s pizza was supposed to come with juice, a cheese plate and a cookie. He never got them and Amber never mentioned it. My daughter brought it up later and Amber said they ran out. Ran out??? They ran out of more stuff??? Wow!!! Why didn’t Amber tell us as we were ordering that certain items were sold out? That could have informed our choices. Food comments: Pork chop: It was cold and hard. My husband had a steak knife and could barely cut into it. The seasoning could barely be detected. It had ‘hint’ of spice. He felt so uncomfortable in asking Amber to send the pork chop back that he just kept it. Wow! A $ 22 entrée that wasn’t enjoyed at all :( I enjoyed the salmon and risotto. I pushed the brussel sprouts to the side. They were hard and tasteless. Perhaps this was a not so good service night, though everyone else at other tables looked happy and satisfied. This restaurant came highly recommended, but I do not believe I need return again. The wine was not good. The pork chop was hard and tasteless. Entrée portions were missing for my grandson. The service was below zero. I hope Kin steps it up and works harder to make a good impression for all of their guests.

Kin Restaurant, located in the Windsor Town Center, is a culinary delight! The Fish Tacos appetizer were fabulously fresh with Pico De Gallo and Guacamole with just a hint of heat! The Classic Caesar salad was notably fresh and tasty! The Butternut Squash and Crab Bisque soup was a little bland but some salt and pepper perked it up immediately. The Shrimp and Sausage Risotto was very light and full of hearty flavors! The Chicken Pot Pie had a Phyllo dough crust that was an oustanding complement to the vegetables and gravy that had a nice sage accent. The Pork Chop was by far the featured entrée that was cooked to perfection and glazed with bourbon. Everyone at the table agreed this entrée was the best taste of the evening! The ambience felt classic wine country with an old country charm. Service was outstanding, very friendly, and courteous. 5 star quality!

As tourists in the area, we popped in KIN because it looked the busiest in the area. When in doubt, head somewhere where the locals seems to be gathered. KIN was filled to the brim with friends watching various games on the numerous big screens, but my boyfriend and I were looking for some delicious food. Our lovely waitress was attentive and gave us some great recommendations. We started with the KIM wings tossed in their homemade barbecue sauce and caramelized in their oven. They were delicious, and I appreciated the bucket for bones and little handwipes that our waitress provided us. We also shared the fried brie, strawberry and grilled chicken salad, which comes with spinach, slivered almonds, strawberries, red onion, cucumber, crispy fried brie, grilled chicken, and a poppy seed vinaigrette. For $ 13.50, I’d expect to get more than one piece of fried brie, but it was a busy night. Maybe they ran out? We also got the Shinebox pizza to share. It came packed with mozzarella, pepperoni, salami, italian sausage, olives, pickled jalapenos, and minced garlic. It was a big pizza that hit the spot. I’d recommend stopping at KIN if you’re in the area!

Not only the best food in town, but kid friendly and the owners contribute to local events and organizations. Go here, support them. My fave is the beet salad. Also great pizza and burgers. I hope they open a KIN Smoke in Windsor!

Great good but do not order their gluten free pizzas. It was like eating the sole from a leather sandal. Terrible. Salads are very very good here. They have a small wine selection and quite expensive for what they are. The service is also hit or miss we have had excellent servers and mediocre ones here so hard to evaluate that cause it constantly changes.

Time to update the first try. I got there, my friend showed up five minutes later. Ordered artichoke dip. Very good. That’s where the rails fell off. We ordered. It seems our server only heard a wedge salad and not the pork chop I ordered as well. My friend got salmon. It came under done. It was returned for pot roast which was good. She finished. I asked about the pork chop, it didn’t get ordered. Had an event to attend and was not interested in waiting for a to go entrée that will sit in the car for three hours. Take from this review what you will.

Nice brunch spot. I’ve been here for lunch and dinner. The food is American, and the flavor combinations are well conceived. For dinner I had the pot roast, and this time for lunch I had a pear and brie sandwich with greens and caramelized shallots. My party also shared a piece of smores bread pudding for dessert. Tasty food, nice ambiance and service.
