I came in with no hopes on invite of a friend to enjoy a cheap dinner as he had a groupon. Was surprised with their hospitality & food quality. Had been here 2 times before, it was OK experience, but today they blew me. Chicken tikka was awesome, Chicken Madrass curry was wow. After all a good dinner

The lunch buffet is unbeatable. $ 10 for all you can eat, really great Indian food is an awesome deal. Definitely recommend coming here for lunch. I’ve come here before with coworkers for lunch as it’s right down the street from our office — some of them go at least once a week. They offer traditional and popular staples(masala, korma, naan bread) and a variety of other specialties. Sad I’m leaving the area and won’t be able to continue getting lunch here!

A recent rainy Friday evening proved to be the perfect time to visit to Taste of India, even despite the rush hour traffic. After snagging a parking spot right out front, we were immediately greeted and seated at a booth in the cozy restaurant. We ordered the baingan bharta, chicken tikka and peshawari naan — all were perfect. Balanced, flavorful, altogether enjoyable. Service was friendly, food came out quickly — really just a solid dinner option nearby!

Look, I’m not Indian. I’ve never been to India. I’m just a boring white guy, and I’ve never lived anywhere but New England. For those of you who don’t know, New England is a collection of states on the eastern seaboard of the continental United States of America. If you are interested in the etymology of the term ‘New England’ in its historical context, this Unilocal review is not the right place for that. In fact, I’d venture to say that Unilocal,in its entirety, is not the right place for it. Please try Google( ) if you are interested in learning more about New England, and why it’s called that. Google has a wonderful search function that you can use at no charge. So, like I said, I am a white adult male. I am married to a white adult female. It sounds crass to reduce my wife down to those terms, but for simplicity’s sake, that’s what she is at a very basic level. No, I am not suggesting that my wife is «basic». At the very least, I do not consider her to be. But, again, Unilocal is not the vehicle for this kind of discussion. Please let me get on with my review of Taste of India. Speaking as a white adult male married to a white adult female, this Indian restaurant is superb. Stellar, even. We both loved the food, and you know what? The service was exquisite. The staff are polite and professional, and very accommodating(we made the now laughable mistake of bringing our 2-and-a-half-year-old son with us to dinner here). The restaurant itself seemed quite clean(although I cannot speak for the restrooms as neither I nor my wife visited them), and the décor was surprisingly pleasant and tasteful. Oh, you’re hung up on my use of the word«surprisingly». Look, I’m not racist, but isn’t it so true that most Indian restaurants have tacky décor? This one was an anomaly in that regard, and I was delightfully impressed, thank you. The wife was, too. And she’s a woman, and women know what good interior design looks like. Great, now I’m sexist, too. I got the chicken vindaloo. Wife got something else; can’t remember what it was, but it was vegetarian. We ordered two full naans. The waitress asked us whether we wanted our meals to be mild, medium, or hot. I said«hot». Mine was hot only in temperature. That’s not the fault of the restaurant though; I think after years of enjoying very spicy foods, my tongue has developed some sort of immunity to anything I put in my mouth that’s below 350,000 on the Scoville Scale. Still though, the food was very tasty and delicious. Next time, I’ll ask for extra hot or something. One last thing. We had a bit of leftover food that a gentleman took away to be boxed up. We paid and left as quickly as possible(remember, 2-and-a-half-year-old) and in the process forgot to wait for the gentleman to bring our leftovers back to us. So, we’re outside in the pouring rain walking to our car, and we hear a voice yell«hey!». We look back, and it’s the nice gentleman running towards us with our food that we forgot. What a guy. Tl;dr: Taste of India is an easy 5-stars for me. I love Indian food, and this place does it perfectly.

I guess being from India I had high expectations. It is far from authentic Indian food. The sauces are repetitive. I ordered chole & paneer — both of which had red gravy. They tasted exactly the same. And I think I can make a better potato filling for samosas then them. Regret going there! If someone is willing to travel then Priya in Rockyhill is far better.

Love this place! Tonight we ordered our usual lamb vindaloo. Unfortunately, they brought us chicken. They were so apologetic and insisted on making us a lamb dish to take home. Everything is always fresh and well spiced.

By far the best Indian lunch buffet I’ve been too. Great service, great selection of food, and cheap!

I didn’t find any appetizer in veg. The buffet was standard. The masala rice(biryani) was very low on spice and salt. Ambiance is very good. There were 4 meat heavy dishes. Only 3 veggie options which were less on salt. Would recommend this place if you are around. Talked to owners, they sure every guest is happy. Also very moderately priced

I went with a group of colleagues(all of us out of towners) for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were surprised they had a buffet and it was delicious. The price was very reasonable, the selection was good, and the chicken was tender. We all enjoyed it and it was a great break from the regular pizza joint/American grill.

Average Indian food. Chicken was really tender but it seemed like everything was really salty. The curry was a little thin and the chicken in the curry was really dry. Good thing the platter came with a bunch of chicken chunks that I cut up and put into the curry.

What a great spot for lunch or dinner in Windsor. Always promptly greeted and seated. The food is cooked to order, always served fresh from the oven and consistent. You can taste the herbs and spices they cook from scratch. Decent beer liquor and wine selection. Highly recommended!

Came here last night 30 min before closing. Might have been a bad decision. It’s Wednesday night and the whole place was completely empty. Waiter rushes to take our order because they are closing soon. I order the shaahi biryani because it had lamb and chicken in it(wanted to try both) and shrimp even though I wasn’t interested in the shrimp at all. I pointed to the item on the menu(last item in the biryanis section) because I didn’t wanna pronounce anything wrong. 30 minutes later after I finished my lassi and samosa chat appetizer, the biryani comes out and I was like what is this? Where’s the lamb and the chicken that was supposed to be in my rice? I call the waiter over and he had thought I ordered the shrimp biryani. He apologized but didn’t really offer to do anything. I wasn’t going to tell them to remake it because it was already past 10. Sigh, I guess I’ll just eat it. The problem was… the shrimp biryani tasted like ****. It was literally a giant pile of pretty much flavorless and yellow colored stale basmati rice with 5 pieces of shrimp mixed in. It tasted like instant rice from a box and boiled shrimp cooked separately and mixed together. Anyway I’m not usually too mad about mistaken orders and will happily eat anything but with 1 table in the restaurant AND the fact that the shrimp biryani tasted absolutely terrible, I was fuming that they got the order completely wrong. My Indian friend who went with me said shrimp doesn’t even belong in Indian cuisine. This made me more upset and almost made me feel like the restaurant didn’t even make an effort to serve me good/legit Indian food and chose whatever was the easiest to make just because they wanted to close the restaurant and go home. Restaurant owners, If you don’t want to serve patrons late at night because your restaurant is dead, maybe change your hours! The service wasn’t bad and they refilled our waters and bagged our naan whatever but if the food’s bad who cares. Stupid biryani was $ 18 and they didn’t even offer to comp it. I ate like 2 bites and just left the rest; the frozen shrimp was so fishy and the rice so stale it was puke worthy. Needless to say they didn’t get any tip from me. I don’t care if they had to stay an extra 20 minutes past closing time. Oh and their«mild spiciness» is a joke. Should have just said no spice. TL;DR food tastes terrible. Not even legitimate Indian food. Don’t dine here late at night because they’ll just want to go home and serve you crappy food that is thrown together last minute.

Went to this restaurant just before they closed on a week night. The Indian food was average, at best. My friend received the wrong order(Shrimp Biryani) even though she specifically ordered the Shaahi Biryani instead. The Lassi drinks and Naan saved the experience from being a total wreck. I would probably not go here again.

I love this place. Great food and service. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who likes Indian food. Their spiciness levels are on point. If you want mild you will get mild — no hint of spice whatsoever. The nice server gave us a free mango lassi one time. The only thing that I didn’t like was she didn’t include the last piece of naan in our doggy bag tonight. Not sure why because she said she’d wrap it and the leftover rice. I thought maybe it fell or something. Other than that small inconvenience it’s a wonderful restaurant. What more can one ask for?

Very clean restaurant! The buffet pictures are accurate and indicative of the variety of offerings and freshness. The chicken tikka masala is flavorful as well as the other items. Excellent service and very attentive! Highly recommend this place if you are in the surrounding area. I’ve also tried this place during dinner time and it was equally as tastey. Enjoy…

Worked late last Wednesday, and was heading north on I-91 wondering where I was going to eat… so I fired up the Hertz Neverlost and searched for an Indian Restaurant. I found this place en-route, and stopped in for dinner at around 9:00PM. Pleasantly surprised to find a very attractive restaurant, and so I ordered up my favorite… Chicken Vindaloo(requesting 7 on a scale of 10 for hotness…), a side of Roti(bread), and a Hayward’s 5000 beer. Enjoyed some chick-pea based poppadum and three chutneys… all very tasty. The vindaloo came out hot, along with some steaming Basmati rice. I found it to be an excellent vindaloo with a LOT of chicken and a few chunks of the requisite potato… with a strong vinegar based sauce… exactly the way I like it(reminded me a lot of the vindaloos I’ve enjoyed in Ireland…) Although more like a 4(out of 10) on «heat», it was still very good. The hostess was very pleasant and chatty, and the overall experience was pretty good. Keeping this place in mind for future dinners in the Windsor area.
