We walked up to the place, and were greeted by the bartender sitting outside on the stool looking at his phone. He instructed us to obtain our own menus and find our own seating despite it being completely dead, and said«I could do it, but it’s more of a ‘serve yourself’ kind of place». As we walked inside to look at the menu, still deciding whether we should eat here, a dog walked in with its owner and vomited on the floor. The bartender put a towel over the vomit and wiped it with his hand, not adding any disinfectant on the floor to properly clean it, only to directly return behind the bar without washing his hands. Needless to say, we practically ran out of there after witnessing that… Yikes.

This is my favorite bar in town. Excellent rotating draft beer selection. The food is great. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. I recommend it to all my friends.

One of my favorite places. In fact, it’s our go-to spot when old friends from the area come to town. Great beers, wine, music, djs… and cocktails are on point. Oh, and the French fries are heaven.

Unbelievable! We were visiting from out of state, and came for dinner with our two children, because this place had a reputation for their tap list. While both the tap and bottle list, as well as the food were wonderful, it was the service that blew us away. Matt went out of his way to make sure we, as well as our kids, were happy at all times. Our kids have nut allergies, and Matt came back from the kitchen to let us know that it would be an extra minute, because the chef was sanitizing the kitchen to ensure it was nut-free! Never before have we felt so safe and cared for while dining out as a family. The food was delicious; it was devoured by all of us. Thank you so much for everything!

I love this bar. Can get crowded on Fridays and Saturdays but it’s a nice place. Water in a corner, so you don’t have to ask. The jack rose cocktail is amazing — apple brandy, lemon, lime, and house grenadine. Nice bartenders. Very much recommended.

Can only sum this place up with one statement: f’ing awesome. Visited Burlington last week for a couple days, and had to stop in both times. Killer specials, small, but to-the-point and well executed food menu. Draft selection is one of the best you’re gonna find. Can’t beat a $ 5 Heady, or the $ 8 mussels special. This place epitomizes VT. Staff was extremely friendly, and took time out of their shift to chat with my roommate and I(visiting from OH) about the local craft scene. Quaint place that’s very clean. Don’t skip this place.

Screw it, I love this place. Maybe they don’t have quite as many amazing beers as the farmhouse and the food isn’t perfect, but Mule Bar is so much fun. Went on Valentines Day, which they celebrate with a «Ballantine’s Day» special which is a $ 1 can of crappy beer and a crowdsourced playlist of vaguely love themed songs shouted at the bartender(I got, «Gettin Jiggy With It» played).

Really chill bar in the hidden gem town of Winooski! Definitely worth the cab ride from Burlington. Mule Bar had some awesome beer on tap and tasty snacks that were a step above your average pub fare. Will be back on our next visit for sure!!!

Great little spot in Winooski. Had the Fall Salad and Veggie Burger with a Focal Banger… tasty! The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I was away on business and ate by myself and found it to be a good place to come and get some work done while I ate. Recommended!

So we had the cheese platter which was tiny for the cost. I had the red rum and my friend had beer. The drinks were good. The atmosphere is nice and young. Next time going to try some more of their food.

Came here on a Friday night at 10:30pm. I had a wonderful Cuban sandwich, a cheese plate and a couple of local beers. Great atmosphere, good selection of local and not so local high quality brews, good food, good prices. Next time I am in the area I will stop by again.

Few mules; many great drinks. Maybe they’re hiding in the Taco Tuesdays? Or occasionally replace one of the great local beers on tap? I won’t be sad to keep coming back to look for them.

Great place to grab a drink or two. The atmosphere is laid back and has a terrific drink selection. They have $ 5 Heady Topper every day of the week, which is a great deal. Sitting outside is nice during the warmer months, but the rush hour traffic of the nearby roads can get very noisy. The wait staff is also friendly and knowledgeable.

I’m so happy these folks are here. It’s hard to find a great burger done the way you want it these days, but these folks really know food. You won’t be sorry. The place is small but not cramped, has outside seating and a great beer selection. The perfect place to find yourself soaking up a little summer with a quality beverage and some tasty eats.

If you are vacationing in Burlington this summer, or on a business trip, make the effort to cab it($ 10) to the Mule Bar in Winooski, VT. Though we don’t drink beer this busy spot had plenty to choose from. In fact so many to choose from that we were the only ones who ordered a bottle of wine. They have a unique wine list and we were impressed. We were told the menu changes often and their daily specials included raw oysters. Our meals were so delicious that we returned 2 other times on our trip. They are creative with their food. The place is beautiful — the woodwork alone — nice and bright during daylight. It’s not a sport’s, but do expect to eat at the bar, on stools by the window or on stools at a table. Clearly stools are their thing. The staff and bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly. You may have to order at the bar and a friendly server will deliver your meal. We enjoyed the diverse crowd from students to people in their 60’s all mixing and mingling. We heard a lot of French speakers which could indicate those from Montréal had heard great things as well. It does get a little noisy. We will be sure to stop by on our next visit!

Been to a number of places in the Burlington area, and I really like the Mule. I liked other places too, but this is just an awesome spot. I found the staff to be very friendly, and the service was good each time I’ve gone. About the only downside is that it can get crowded, but generally I’ve managed to find a spot either at the bar, or along the front window, where you can watch life go by on the Winooski circle. A small patch of outdoor seating is available in warmer months. The Mule has a rotating draft beer selection of mostly local craft beers, but they also pull in from Stone, Two Roads, and others. They also have a good list of craft beer in cans and bottles, including Heady Topper and Focal Banger, both from The Alchemist, when available. Lawson’s and Hillstead are also often represented on the tap lineup. The food is also good. Tuesday Taco night offers interesting tacos, in a fusion cuisine kind of way, with a variety of homemade hot sauces available in every range of heat. I’ve also had the Mule Burger several times(plus Swiss and bacon, because, bacon). The bacon was great, and the overall burger was a good size and cooked right each time. You can have it with either greens or fries. I’ve opted for the fries, which I also found to be good.

Seriously just found a treasure in Winooski. The Mule Bar has healthy drinks, with house made bitters & quinine… the bartender, Paul, educated us and even showed us the ingredients they use. Nice to have a choice of drinks that really are good for what ales you. Came to grab takeout and found our restaurant didn’t open for about an hour. Good thing, so we could find this awesome spot! Hard to believe the cool eateries & quality bars in this little circle. Definitely will be visiting the Mule Bar & recommend you check it out ASAP.

Nicely appointed small bar offering a small rotating menu of craft foods and beers of local flavor. Although generally busy in its’ own right, it does offer an alternative to the bustle of nearby Burlington. I had a very good local porter to accompany a fresh salad and local blue cheese board, all very fresh and delicious.
