Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar – Winston Salem

The server was very nice. But the one star goes towards the food. First of all, it was pretty pricey and the quality was worse than fast food. They had on a blackboard that the Bloody Mary was on special for $ 6, in the regular menu it was also priced for $ 6! So what was the special?

My favorite place for superior hamburgers. These are not your regular fast food hamburgers. These are gourmet hamburgers with a lot of flavor and some specialty sauces. This place is fun with a good vibe, and of course always full of people. The waiting list move quick though. Service is great and managers are around checking on good service and customer satisfaction.

This is one of my «go to» places. There’s only a few Winston Salem restaurants that earn my business repeatedly and this is one of them. They missed their 5^th star due to inconsistent servers. MOST of the time its good, but SOME of the time, it’s dicey. Sometimes the hostesses seem checked out and clueless which annoys me.
BEST burgers I’ve had to date in town. Sauces are GREAT, I’m a huge condiment person so if the drinks are good and the sauces are good. I’m there. We have been disappointed in their salads and can’t recommend them. Love tater tots, disappointed too they changed their onion strings to some other weirdness… STILL a fan.
Guarantee you will LOVE this place. It can get loud and has too many TV’s but worth it anyway. Management is VERY present and available and that is cool too.

They live by their own set of rules when it comes to burger temps. I ordered a patty melt and the meat more closely resembled a «Chicago style Tartar». The idea of letting the meat rest to allow it to absorb it’s juices seems to elude them as well. It’s a great place with mountains of potential, but they need to get out of their own way to do it.

Went for lunch with coworkers and got the Frenchie burger (turkey burger, apples, brie, bacon, spicy mayo). Very delicious! Tater tots on the side were crispy and were served with Bad Daddy’s sauce. The sauce is like a spicy bbq mayo and so good, I asked for some to go! Giving 4 stars is because they couldn’t split the check for my coworkers and the price being a tad over what I would have expected for a burger. Also, the girl next to me got the hand cut fries and they were mostly tiny fry fragments.

Love this Winston Salem location so much. Jake is the manager and wow he just really makes this place over the top and always going out of his way to make the experience so much better!!! Thanks jake so much can’t wait to come back. And you have to visit on nation tater tot day omg so very good!

Once again, our Unilocal!community comes through! Just looking over the menu, there are some great sounding options, which made it difficult to choose. That’s a good thing when the kitchen can pull off the expected flavors — everything we ordered surpassed the menu’s promises and made this an excellent experience! I had the Mama Ricotta Burger, which had nothing to do with ricotta, but thankfully wasn’t topped with just a hint of mozzarella. That, mixed with the fresh pesto, tomatoes and pepperoncinis made for an wonderfully light and fresh combination! The house made potato chips were perfect; light and crisp without being overly greasy. My wife ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger on Steroids and as simple as that sounds, this one was packed with excellent cuts of bacon and a rich flavor combination which again exceeded our expectations. She ordered their slaw, which though it is a fairly simple side to make, most places order it ready-​made or just don’t understand how the ingredients best complement each other. Here, they obviously make it in house, in good balance which is evident just looking at it, and was all the better for it! I wish I had more time to explore their menu because I would do so emphatically!

We decided to head over to Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar for a late dinner with our kids, a close friend and my mother the evening after New Years. It was Saturday night around 6:30; the place was PACKED! The hostesses were all very nice, very organized and gave us a 30 to 40 minute wait (which I didn’t think was that bad considering the amount of people that were in the waiting area, as well as outside waiting in the freezing cold.)
Finally seated at a very nice big booth, our server came over and took our drink order; my best friend had ordered a Mojito but our server came back a couple minutes later with our drinks letting him know that the bar was unfortunately out of fresh mint. Bummer. My daughter ordered the chocolate milkshake but ended up sending it back because she complained that it did not taste «chocolatey enough» and because she did not like the consistency (it was REALLY thick like Cookout shakes; very desirable to an adult but not to a six-​year-​old child who cannot suck it up through a straw). No worries; it was sent back and taken off our check. Our orders were taken and we waited and waited and waited. Seriously, it was Saturday night and the restaurant was very busy; we did not make a big deal about it. We were just really excited to devour our burgers.
We ordered wings as an appetizer but we were not in the mood for anything spicy, so we asked politely if they would simply brush them with barbecue sauce instead of buffalo sauce and they were happy to oblige. The wings were decent. Everybody really loved their meals, the burgers were cooked to everyone’s liking and all of our food was served hot and delicious. I was absolutely thrilled with my bacon cheeseburger on steroids; it was big, hot, thick, delicious and surprisingly stayed together nicely as I ate it. My burger was cooked perfectly, was very juicy, and both the jalapeño & regular bacon were absolutely spectacular. I didn’t care much about the fries because I was so obsessed with my burger; however the fries that I did sample (with a side of Bad Daddys special sauce) were AMAZING! That sauce was off the charts; BBQ, mayo & chipotle I believe. YUM!
The owner/​manager was coming around to all of the tables asking everyone if they were OK, if they needed anything and how they liked their food. We also observed him helping run food orders and clearing tables. Very nice to see a manager being so involved with helping the front of the house; definitely shows that he cares.
Fun night, switched it up a bit and enjoyed some yummy bad ass burgers. I think we would definitely come back to Bad Daddys Burgers again in the future.

Have never been disappointed by a burger — I’ve tried quite a few of them– or the service!!!

First visit went great! Had lunch with my son. He ordered the Steak burger, medium and it was cooked perfectly. Caramelized onions on top and steak sauce. He loved it. He did ask them to hold the tomato, but it was on there — easy to take off though, so not a big deal. Just a little point for more attention to detail to the server. He asked if he could get the fried pickles as a side and she said no. I asked if they could upcharge, and she said no. So we didn’t get them. He got the onion straws, which were very good. But really? Just no?
I got the Baja salad with chicken, corn, black beans and chiptle ranch dressing. It was really good. The menu said «Giant Salads», and this one was $ 10+, but it was far from giant, not even what I would call large. It was a good size for lunch, but not for the price. That’s why I’m taking off a star. Lunch for me and my son was $ 26.

I decided to make a run out from the Hospital for lunch. I was CRAVING a Frenchie from Bad Daddy’s after falling in love with the one i’d recently ordered in Charlotte. I called in to order it on Toast with a side of Tater Tots. When I arrived to pick it up I went directly to the bar. I stood there and waited for someone to help me. There was a lady coming in and out who looked at me walk up but then left the bar. I thought maybe she didn’t work the bar… a couple comes up and sits next to me. She comes back and immediately helps them. REALLY??? *side eye* So when she finished with them she starts to walk away so I call out and say excuse me i’ve been waiting. She looks at me and rudely asks «what do you need». So after explaining that I placed an order she brings my ticket so I can pay and went and got my order. I look at my frenchie which had an overcooked turkey burger and bacon and ask if I can have some bacon that is not overcooked. I decided it’d be quicker to just ask for better bacon rather than an entire new order especially since I was now uncomfortable and the bartender was rude. She says she’ll get me more bacon and returns with bacon that looked EXACTLY like the overcooked bacon i’d just complained about. I tell her this bacon is overcooked just as much as the bacon on my burger and put them beside each other so she can see. She responds by saying «this is how we cook all of our bacon». I’m thinking to myself, clearly, but if i’m saying this is overcooked for me, why not order me a side of bacon which isn’t well done? So now i’m really over it and decide to just ask for some Ketchup for my tots and go. She brings me ONE pack of Ketchup. I grab my food and leave. I’ll never return to this location again while in town. I love my Ballantyne Charlotte location. A little customer service goes a long way…

Top notch!!! From start to finish… this was one of the best lunch services I’ve experienced in Winston Salem. I was eating lunch with a coworker who wasn’t feeling well. We ordered and I ate my food (a Jalapeño Popper Burger that was perfectly cooked and put together with a lot of care) when my coworker started feeling very bad. He had to visit the restroom and while he was gone the waitress went ahead and brought a To-​go box, packed his food up, and brought a to-​go drink. After he returned, she asked how he was feeling and went above and beyond to make the experience GREAT… and it was. Thanks to an incredible lunch I’ll be back very soon. By the way, the banana pudding is INCREDIBLE!

Always a go-​to for my husband and me. The first time I went to Bad Daddy’s was at their Charlotte location, which was great, so when I found out there was one nearby in Winston Salem, I was stoked! It definitely lived up to the standard that the Charlotte location had set.
While I’ve heard that their other burgers on the menu are really good, I usually build my own. They have a ton of options (their onion straws are to die for) and their sides are always on point, whether it’s the fries, sweet potato fries, or their tater tots. The other cool thing they offer is to build your own salad, and they have a large number of choices for that as well. My husband is a big fan of their Bad Daddy’s sauce!
They offer domestic beers but also have a variety of beers from local NC breweries, including Foothills in Winston Salem. Prices are pretty comparable to other burger joints in the business.
The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because the service can be hit or miss. Sometimes you get an excellent server and other times… not so much. The hostesses are not the friendliest, but I would say about 75% of the time we get pretty decent service. The manager is out on the dining floor a lot and does a lot of table touching to make sure that all of his patrons have a good experience.
Overall, we are big fans of Bad Daddy’s! We always recommend it to friends and they have been happy with it as well. Definitely check it out if you’re in the Hanes Mall Blvd area!

I was a bit skeptical of all the hype — it’s just a burger after all. And for $ 10+, that’s a tall order.
Well, my son and I went this afternoon and I have to say I was impressed. I had the jalepeno burger cooked to medium temperature and it was cooked to temperature. It came with jalapeño bacon which was delicious. It started tasting like regular bacon then had a slow after burn. I ordered my burger with cole slaw as a side and I was surprised to find a healthy size bowl instead of the all too common baby ramekin.
My son did a build your own bacon cheeseburger and he liked it alot. The side of fries was good. I really liked the bad daddy sauce he got with his burger — I think it was described as ketchup, chipotle, and mayo. Whatever it was, it was good.
Service was fast and attentive. I’m a fan.

We have been meaning to try this place for a while and we both had a taste for some burgers… so off we went! My first impression was a little strange, because there was a 25 minute wait to sit down, odd. Must be good then right? So after some waiting we are seated outside and we give our orders to another waitress he was helping ours out.
We then proceed to wait, and wait, and wait for our food to finally come out after several stop overs from the waitress, explaining it will be a few more minutes. Okay, I have no problem waiting for food if it’s good.
I ordered the badass burger and just wanted lettuce and cheese on it, none of the sauces or tomatoes. We finally got our order and I was HUNGRY at this point. I take a bite and notice things hanging out, nuts they screwed up the toppings. I take the extra things off and proceed to eat my burger. The waitress stops by and asks if everything was okay, and I explained the topping blunder. Not a big deal as I was able to take them off. However, the manager came by shortly after and apologized for it again. Okay, at least the restaurant owns up if they make a silly mistake.
BACK to the burger. Holy mother. of holy. Soooo good! I was blown away by the quality and taste of this burger. Cooked to perfection. It was a tad bit greasy to eat near the end, so a knife and fork were helpful. But, damn that was the best burger I have had since moving to Winston Salem.
Because I am peanut butter nut, I ordered to peanut butter pie they had for desert. Though it didn’t take champ as being the best PB pie in town, it came in at number 2. Very big portion and tasty to boot.
My only negatives, the wait time, topping blunder, and the slow service. But the quality of food made up for those. Oh and make sure to ask about the drink specials!

Told my co-​workers I wanted some greasy comfort food for dinner and they didn’t let me down with Bad Daddy’s. Burger was fantastic and worth the wait to be seated. Went with the mushroom swiss burger and added some of their regular bacon to it. It was great all around and had their homemade chips on the side with ranch. We also started off with the tots for the table. Make sure you ask how you can dress them up as it is not listed on the menu. You can add cheese, queso dip, bacon (regular or jalapeño), chili, etc. We decided on the queso and bacon combo and loved it. You also have options for the type of bun you want including a lettuce wrap.
I’ll definitely be back!

Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar is yum, yum, yum! A wide variety of burgers prepared however you like and fresh and delicious «big salads.» Who doesn’t like a big salad sometimes? No complaints about service, they are generally pretty slammed at lunch — so be prepared to wait 20 – 30 minutes for your order… but Bad Daddy’s is so worth it!

Came with five friends on a Sunday evening (thank goodness Bad Daddy’s is one of the few places open on Sunday in Winston) and was super impressed. Service was quick and our waitress was really nice. We all ordered a variety of burgers and were all very happy. I got the jalapeño popper burger: the patty was juicy, great heat from the jalapenos (which weren’t overfried or greasy), and loved the jalapeño cream cheese (although it did drip a lot). I got sweet potato fries as a side, which I could tell were frozen from a bag, but oh well :/​
Of note, their burgers run a bit on the rarer side. I had initially wanted a medium rare, but my friends said that it’d be pretty pink if I did, so went with medium instead. One friend who did get medium rare had a pretty pink burger.
Super tasty and filling, definitely will be back!

Went here this evening for my husband’s birthday. This place has some bad ass burgers! I had the bacon cheeseburger on steroids and that it was! Thing was huge and omg good. Best burger I’ve had in quite a while. Their bad daddy sauce is pretty amazing too. I threw some of that onto my burger and it was awesome.
My husband had the jalapeño popper burger, adding on pepper jack cheese, and he said it was really good. My son had the kid dog and fries. He seemed to enjoy his. We will definitely be back.
