Despite the fact that Double Cut resides within the confines of the less than stellar Kalahari Resort(in my humble opinion-see my review), and despite the fact that I’m as intransigent as they come once an opinion has been formed, I’m pleased to report that this place is totally legit. It hits on all cylinders, or for you wankle engine aficionados, it fires on all cavities. The steaks are prime aged and freaking delicious, the wedge salad with blue cheese is top shelf, and the grilled vegetables are perfect-a nice random char combined with a magnificent saltiness. And the Key Lime pie is bonafide. That was my meal. My wife enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass(although she described it as a bit too flaky for her liking). We shared the seasoned fries and gobbled them down in a Green Bay Minute(that’s 5 minutes for you Wisconsin novitiates). My 9 year old daughter ordered, and I quote; «the Lobster mac and Cheese, hold the Lobster,» and described it as too saucy. I suspect that condition was the result of holding the Lobster. Good service, good craft beer and wine selection, and good ambiance. And compared to, say… Eddie Merlot’s or Sullivan’s, or Hugo’s frog Bar, its a genuine bargain!

This was one of the best steakhouses that I have ever been to, from the giant shrimp cocktail with fresh grated horseradish on top of the cocktail sauce to the steamed Broccoli with cheese sauce on the side, and the grilled asparagus with hollandaise sauce. The other side was garlic mashed potatoes, my husband ordered the 24-ounce porterhouse, he said it melted in your mouth just like butter. I had the 8oz filet and it was the same way, melted in your mouth just like butter. We had a drink before dinner and both of them were very tasty. Our server Candice was a great person and she made our dinner even better. Very informed and helpful, came back and made sure everything was going ok. Not overly bothersome, but very attentive. We will be back and its nice to know there is a place we can go to have a great ateak dinner, great service and courteous staff and the Manager Ben was a great guy too. He came to check on everyone in the dining room. GREATSERVICE, GREATFOOD! If you are in Wisconsin Dells, and you’re looking for a great steak try Double Cut at the Kalahari Resort

This place may very well be the home of the best steaks I’ve ever consumed. I got the 20oz bone-in ribeye. It was juicy, tender and full of flavor. Pricy, but worth it. We also ordered the beef carpaccio as an appetizer. Wow, it was great. Hints of horseradish, diced lobster sauce and capers!!! Unreal! The calamari was also fantastic. My 9-year-old got the salmon. He cleaned the plate. Just use that as a reference. They have Lots of fun drink options that will help ease the price point pain. Double Cut has a high end Las Vegas feel to it and perhaps the only draw back is it shares the high price tag too. But it was worth it and we used it as a celebration meal. Family of 4 was $ 202.00 before tip.

Our waitress was very nice, this is only good thing about this restaurant. we ordered walleye $ 29 it was cold, and not fresh. I had better fish only cost $ 10. in St. Paul MN. prime rib was tough to eat. I should have gone to Del-bar. Food is much better over there.

This is probably the only fancy steakhouse in the Dells. The ambience is well decorated, warm and inviting. I thought the food would not be that great since we are in a resort at the dells(not a place known for its steakhouses) but the food was surprisingly great. The fresh bread they serve with the meal was crusty and warm. The calamari for appetizer was good too. The filet mignon was delicious too. My favorite dish was the pecan crusted walleye. The only item I didn’t enjoy was the seared scallops. They had a burnt charred taste.

Food was good and service was great. Way too expensive for what you get and where you’re at. The wife and kids all enjoyed their meal. Upscale steak joint. Everything a la carte. Not necessarily a bad thing but not really what we were expecting for the Dells. Bottom line just feel it was too expensive. They seem to be going for a classic Downtown Chicago steak joint and are charging comparable prices but you’re just not quite there. I liked the food & service but won’t be back at those prices.

Great steak. Bit over priced. Yet it’s my favorite Steak House in Dells. If you are in Dells and want a good steak, try this place out. It’s better then rest for the steak house in town. Yes, I have tried all the steak houses in town.

This place just seemed so high priced for what we could have gotten closer to home. I did appreciate the servers, they went above and beyond. I liked the lobster seafood cobb salad but not the lobster mac n cheese(it was gritty for the sauce); my husband got a steak cut and it just wasn’t anything to be over the moon about. We got the Chocolate Bananas Foster. It was different, chocolaty but really really rich and we did have to fight the ice cream ball to get our little scoops out.

The only reason why this place gets 2 stars was because of the cocktails! I had amazing whisky based drinks and was very pleased with them… But then my food came… Everything was cold and my steak was flavorless … I had the porterhouse and my wife had the 8 ounce filet and neither of them were cooked correctly… No crusting no seasoning at all…(We both asked for the steaks to be prepared at the temp recommended by the chef). The sides that we ordered were expensive and had potential but they were all cold. Our server was very nice so after a decent tip(food wasn’t her fault) we walked out paying $ 165 for 2 people and a lousy food experience… There are MUCH better places to eat even in the resort ! Stop by for a drink then leave. PLEASE save your money for food elsewhere…

We had dinner here while we came to Kalahari for the New Years get away. The place was not really that busy. So, we got seated right away. The food always took too long. We had an incedent once where one of our child accidentally dropped a plate and broke it. The hostess happened to be passing by and we mentioned to her. She seemed bothered and said don’t worry your waitress will come. We had to wait a while until the waitress actually came after my sister went to to complain. The food was very good. Pricing is not bad. One of the only convince of coming here is that it’s right next to the main lobby. We will probably come back here again but only if the customer service improves abit. We later noticed there a lot more nice restaurants in the resort.

Very classy décor, gives off a stylish vibe. Steak was excellent. We ordered NY strip and filet mignon and both were cooked perfectly. Fish was solid. Lobster tail was awesome. Our waitress was very nice. Took the time to present us with the different steaks they served for the night, and was experienced and professional. Excellent service for the type of restaurant they are. Only downside is that they are a little bit on the pricy side, but it definitely fits the occasion if it calls for it.

Decent food, but definitely not great. Service was very good, but the food just slightly missed the mark to be considered a great restaurant. Must be because they are onsite with a waterpark? Disappointed by the lobster Mac and cheese and lobster bisque. Lobster was chewy and not that fresh.

I’m going with three stars because the restaurant gives a solid performance delivering high quality food at a high price. The taste on all of our dishes was excellent and the execution was perfect except for parts of the Kids filet being slightly over done. My wife and I split the porterhouse so I could have the filet side while she had the strip. We were not given a split plate charge which was appropriate given presentation was«a slab of meat on a plate.» The menu is largely ala carte so you can control costs by selecting the sides and garnishes you want. Portion sizes are huge so if you believe there is value in quantity, you’re all set. When all is said and done: enjoy a delicious cocktail, dine on good tasting food and leave with a full stomach and empty wallet.

As a lone traveler we like to take our time with a meal. Roadside diners often bring all the food at once. But very disappointed that a high priced restaurant would do the same. No common sense. Once my $ 39 ribeye came it was not at the right temp. Medium not rare. I was charged $ 21 for a glass of wine and a salad and left hungry. Now at McDonald’s. Sad.

Double cut is the most expensive steak restaurant I’ve been to and the worst. There’s so much better options. The bloody mary oyster shooters had maybe a ¼ of a full oyster in them. The lobster bisque was overly sugary. Now the real atrocious was the steak. I ordered a rare steak and what came to the table was just under well done. The interior was a very light pink/grey. Then their was the mushrooms, which came from a can. Over cooking and canned mushrooms are just a sin when it comes to a place where you’re steak costs $ 49. Save your money; you can make a better steak at home for a quarter of the cost.

Spent the entire day at the pool with my kids(9 – 5) So wifey was beat and decided to just stay in with our 5 month old. So myself and my 3 year old walked across the parking lot into this very posh steak house. The bar area was great as they had numerous tv’s and I was able to watch the Pga at whistling straights. Normally I would have watched the entire tournament but we decided on a short lil vaca that weekend. It was about 530 when we arrived and we just sat at the bar and ordered the following. –kiddie cocktail — The Clint Eastwood for dad(obviously) actually had a couple. :) –Bone in Rib Eye(medium rare charred with a bit of melted blue cheese) –lobster bisque — steak fries It was pretty much a home run, and we will actually be celebrating thanksgiving here this year as well. The only change I’d make is the steak fries, they were a bit obnoxious. I prefer a more thin style, but other than that it was excellent. My 3 year old has good taste.

We decided to dine here for my father’s birthday and despite the mixed reviews, the experieince my family and I had here deserves 5 stars. First off, the resturant itself is beautiful and has such a luxurious ‘feel’. When we ordered, we asked our waitress if they could make some changes to the dish we wanted and they were accommodating and very flexible. We got the iced shellfish tower, prime rib, calamari, and 3 selections of sides. We all agreed that everything we ordered was delicious, and that’s saying a lot since my parents are very picky eaters. Overall, based on our dining experience, I suggest to all who read these reviews to try out this resturant.

Must say, I am shocked by some of the bad reviews of Double Cut. This is easily one of the best steak houses I’ve ever dined at and I’ve been to plenty. First off, I have to compliment whoever their interior decorated is/was. He/She did an outstanding job of decorating the entire restaurant including the bathrooms which have towels for drying your hands instead of paper towels! The two fire places were great additions to an already over the top elegant restaurant. Also, I have to tip my imaginary hat off to the valet. My boyfriend and I dinned here on Valentines Day and he was the only person working valet. Please note that it was 2 degrees outside. He was a total trooper! Hope he was tipped well that night. As to be expected, my boyfriend and I ordered steaks, NY Strip to be exact, 12oz. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The tenderness and juices worked well for the pallet. We also ordered sides. They have a this great deal where you pick 3 sides for $ 25. We were not expecting the portions to be nearly as large as they were. The sides along were meals themselves. Lobster Mac N Cheese was superb. I actually do not like lobster but flavor from the lobster in combination with the cheese was wonderful. The steak fries were the large fries I’ve ever seen. Potato wedges is a better name for them. Seasoned very well and weren’t over cooked. The last side was garden veggies which consisted of green onions, tri-peppers, brussel sprouts, zucchini and asparagus which were all chard grilled. The veggies were good but I do feel that they were slightly over chard. All of the sides were impossible to eat in one sitting. I noticed while waiting for our table to be open that everyone walked out with a to-go bag. You shortly will learn why that is. Portion sizes are just out of this world. You pay for what you get. While they are definitely expensive, that is to be expected considering they are a steak house. A very nice one at that. What an amazing night and experience dinning at Double Cut.

The food was very good but expensive. Everything is a la carte. Steak prices are $ 30-$ 60. They do serve the(sides) family style. The service was excellent. The restaurant is very nicely decorated.

We enjoyed a holiday dinner there yesterday evening with four children in tow ages infant to eight years old and despite the fancy ambiance they were able to accommodate us just fine as they sequestered families with children towards the back of the otherwise beautiful restaurant. The food was generally good with the lobster mac and cheese a winner. The prime rib was perfect but the porterhouse we ordered was a little more medium well than medium rare as we had requested. The steak fries were a little crude but nevertheless cooked very well. The calamari came our way too quickly and was half shrimp. The kids were a little disappointed as they were expecting French fries. The lobster Cobb and oyster shooter weren’t anything to write home about, but they weren’t bad either. The pop overs were unique but not altogether memorable and the kids didn’t enjoy it much either. We had the Cherries jubilee and cake for dessert and both were a tad underwhelming having Kaminski Brothers ice cream sundae and loaded mashed potatoes to compare to. Altogether it wasn’t a bad experience but there were some hits and misses. The miss on cooking the meat loses a star.

I was staying in town for business and ended up at Double Cut, hoping for a nice meal. I wasn’t disappointed! This is an upscale steakhouse that serves quality food, and all of it was delicious. The décor is very modern — low lights, intimate seating areas, big leather booths for large groups. The cocktail menu was creative, the wine list was extensive, and the salads and shareable sides were delicious. My only reason for knocking this review down to four stars is because my filet was overcooked. I firmly believe that a steakhouse should be able to get your temperature preference just right, and was disappointed when my filet was served with very little pink, instead of medium rare as requested. Because of that, it was a bit tough. Overall, the food was delicious. I would recommend the bernaise, the creamed spinach, and the steak fries. The caesar salad was huge — a head of romaine, along with a hard boiled egg and home made dressing made for a clean start to the meal. All very good. As for the steak, I might stick to a NY strip next time to ensure it’s cooked the right way.
