Fantastic food. Four course meal with homemade minestrone soup, salad, entrée. We went here by chance and everyone was very pleased. Good atmosphere and owners/chef are very personable. Would definitely recommend.

The best Italian food and service in The Dells. I highly recommend the baked pasta. You will definitely not leave hungry.

The ONLY reason I’m giving 2 stars is because Eva, our server, was delightful. If you like Chef Boyardee sauce on Lasagna, then you should order the lasagna. If you like canned Alfredo sauce, then go for that. The owner is a jerk also. He asked my wife how she liked her lasagna. When she told him her issues with it, he went totally defensive, and paraded around the restaurant, polling other customers, and crowing across the room about how they liked it. Happy 5th wedding anniversary, Marji… hopefully tomorrow’s dinner will be better!

I came to R Place a while ago with a group of friends, at first we were a bit skeptical, having never heard of it and not knowing what to expect. To all of our surprise, everything about this restaurant was amazing. We chose to sit outside as the weather was beautiful, and even then, we were given the same level of dedicated service, if not better, that you would expect inside! The meal came in four courses: a salad that was perfect. And FRESH. Soup: a wonderful minestrone, with plenty of substance. They brought out refills for us as needed!(We devoured the soup!) Bread: a wonderful homemade bread, much better than you get from an Italian chain restaurant like Olive Garden. You get your main course. I ordered the swordfish. I’ve never had swordfish before, and had some questions about it. The chef was more than eager to come out and answer my questions, and even provided great personal tails of his own to accompany the social atmosphere. He explained what I should expect in general flavor, gave me insight as to his own recipe, and assured me that I would love it, or I wouldn’t pay for it. I loved it! And gladly paid the price, which after a quick Google search was extremely fair and reasonable in my opinion. The hostesses were amazing, never letting our waters go empty, answering any other questions we had, and providing a fun, friendly, and memorable meal, while giving us a feeling of homeliness. They clearly took pride in their restaurant, and they deserve to have that pride! To follow up an amazing meal, they even have a sorbet dessert which made everything just that much better! I cannot wait to head back, and stop in for another swordfish filet, and to experience this again. I highly recommend R PLACE. If you’re not satisfied, you’re probably just a cranky person to start.

Very nice and pleasant restaurant. I was very impressed with their service. Especially being a Muslim and having certain restrictions when it comes to eating, the owner/chef was very accommodating. The food was perfect, and their dessert they gave us some type of sorbet, it was delicious. I highly recommend this place to everyone, very nice people and a very nice restaurant.

Decided to finally try this place, was not disappointed. I had the combo, sausage, chicken, and ravioli. Very good, the bread was fresh and hot. My husband had the chicken parmigiana and he was very happy with it. Definitely would come back again and again. Next time will bring the family.

In the dells for a conference. We didn’t want to go to a chain or mega-resort, so we found this little locally owned restaurant. What a gem! Excellent service and great food. I had the baked spaghetti and my friend had the lasagna. Delicious! I am stuffed and beyond satisfied.

Great, homemade family-style Italian food and attentive, friendly staff. The décor is old-school but it is clean and cutesy. A hidden gem for sure.

Came here with friends who live in the Dells. The food and service were amazing. We had the lasagna with meat sauce, but first we were treated to bread dipped in olive oil with Parmesan cheese, pizza bread, minestrone soup, and a salad. Ended our meal with the best Spumoni I have had in years. Don, the owner and chef, was so personable and friendly. It was a very special dinner and experience.

This place was great. Went with my family of 4 around 630 pm on a busy Labor Day weekend. Got seated right away. My kids(5 and 7) split a kids spaghetti. My picky eaters ate quite a bit. My husband ordered the veal picante and loved it. We were told it was the chefs favorite. I ordered the shrimp drying he. Very good. Very garlicky which I love. It is served with a mostaccioli with red sauce which was a bit strange I thought. The minestrone was amazing. Salad was ok, but wouldn’t waste stomach space on it. Finished with a sherbet. Overall was impressed with the food. Quiet comfortable and casual environment.

The service was excellent. The chef came out to the table to welcome us. We ordered the New York Strip, cheese ravioli, and baked eggplant. The food was hot and good. We all enjoyed the fresh bread and minestrone. We will be eating here again.

BESTALFREDOEVER! No complaints, the service was great and open to questions. The chef came out and personally asked everyone how their food was and whether it was fish, beef or pasta everyone was completely satisfied! I am definitely coming back to this restaurant(:

Best Italian place on the block for sure because it’s the only place on the block. Skip it. As much as I love supporting local businesses and generally steer away from restaurant chains, this was really a painful experience. We questioned our decision as soon as we walked into the very dark, dank place, and really wanted to get out of there after tasting the soup, but we stayed, and it was just a very long, drawn out, disappointing experience. The minestrone is awful. It’s Campbells tomato soup base with mushy vegetables, mostly beans. It’s about as cheap as cheap can get. No «authentic» Italian restaurant serves powdered Parmesan that’s left in a dish on the table. Cheap. The salad was kind of like Olive Garden’s but worse with limp lettuce and incredibly over dressed. The main courses were ok, but again, not fresh, processed and canned ingredients. The meals are touted as 4 course. So there’s dessert at the end, but because I don’t eat dairy, I asked for coffee as a substitute and I was told it wasn’t allowed. Really? Overall, I found service to not really be rude, but very curt and definitely not friendly. It’s so dim and dark and stale in there you can barely see what you’re eating. Wallpaper is peeling, the lamps are covered in dust, and who knows how many fingers were in that bowl of Parmesan on the table. When you’re in the Dells, go for the full-on kitschy experience and head to one of the more popular places where there are cars in the parking lot.

Delightful restaurant and an even more delightful chef who took the time to greet us. The significant other had chicken Marsala and declared it to be among the best he’s ever had. My chicken park was equally delightful. Yummers.

We came here after an evening at the water park at Kalahari. Woah, this was some outstanding food! Chicken Marsala was the special and it’s one of my favorite dishes. I’ve had it dozens of times in Chicago and this is the best I’ve had. The cook /owner came out to chat with us several times and was so very friendly. The waitress was quick and kind. I’m telling you, folks. This is where you want to have dinner. It’s perfect.

A breath of old school reality in a town where everything is plastic. The only thing plastic here are the tablecloths Here you will find no quinoa, no margherita pizza,(in fact, no pizza at all) and no polenta. What you will find is an uncomfortably extroverted but good-natured chef /owner, perfect meat balls, and a made — from — scratch marinara that will make you weep. Every dinner is accompanied by his own delicious interpretation of minestrone and salad and bread with parm and olive oil and ice cream. If you’re not expecting Disney Land you won’t be disappointed. Add a glass of lambrusco and you’ve got the idea.
