Great atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food, great beer, terrific location, indoor/outdoor seating. Can’t beat this place. Met the family, and they are so special.

The bartender coming off shift was not very helpful with the beer and food selections. In fact, she basically paid me no mind to even ask me if i wanted anything to eat. When i asked what the happy hour specials were, she said, «Just what’s on the board and behind you». Very dismissive. The bartender coming on shift got the guys across the bar, and i had to yell to her just to order some plain tots. Seriously? I feel very ignored here.

A friend and I came here on a Sunday evening around 9pm. There was no table service at that time so we were told to sit at the bar! Once we were seated, the bar tender gave us a menu and we ordered the pulled pork sandwich and butterfly fries! Everything we ordered was so good but the butterfly fries were outstanding. They were like homemade potato chip served with a side of a cheese(mild cheese, not the one most places give with jalapeño in it). I was addicted to this fries! They were so good! I can’t wait to come back to this place and get the exact same meal. Great place to watch a game, get a late night snack or just have a drink. The prices are way cheaper than most places that are comparable! It’s also right by the Woodbridge train station so it’s a great place to grab something after work! I would highly recommend! Very low key and fun place to hang out!

I had high hopes as I walked in the door. I had high hopes as I dealt with the friendly bartender. I had high hopes as I sipped my first beer in the tasting that I ordered. I then decided to eat. that’s when my hopes came crashing down… I ordered something off of their«tater tot menu»(why I didn’t see this as a red flag is beyond me), specifically the prime rib and melted provolone tots. My best guess is someone at JJ Bitting gets an awesome deal on wholesale frozen tater tots, hence the tater tot menu. Throw some of their sandwich menu options atop said tots, and voila, a sad tater tot dish. So then I ordered a turkey club. Not easy to eff up a turkey club. Surprise! They effed up a turkey club. How you may ask? Well, they used sub par cold cut meat, they bread was somehow toasted to a point that it was dry but aesthetically looked untoasted. Not sure how they pulled that off. The sweet potato fries were fine. All in all, the menu items seemed mostly frozen or carelessly thought out. Time for a kitchen overhaul.

We stopped at JJ Bitting Brew Co for dinner my wife and two daughters and I. We order some apps and I tried the beer flight most of them were great my favorites were the Hop Train I.P.A. and The Woodbridge Winter Warmer which I actually took a growler to go. As far as the food it is not bad it’s just plain tavern fare. The burger was good and all the apps were tasty, but like I said before nothing to go out of your way for. So overall I would recommend JJ Bitting Brewing Co to family and friends ONLY if in the area

Staff was great but the food was horrible. Even the kids didn’t like their meals. Burgers were a joke. Turkey burger was a rubbery puck that did not fit the bun. Buffalo burger was not buffalo meat, not grilled but lightly steamed… Nasty. Every thing else was not fresh or tasted like it came frozen off a truck. They’ve had 18+ years to figure it out… Not recommended unless you want to try their beer which was ok to good.

Went to try and grab a beer with my partner at around 6pm. Took far too long to get us served, and the beer was sub par but cheap(because of happy hour). Cool that they make their own beer, and the décor inside is neat, but our experience could have been(and should have been) far better. Very disappointed.

I went to JJ Bitting for the first time this past weekend while visiting my father in law for thanksgiving. I really liked the atmosphere. The bar/brewery is in an old train station and it’s really neat, rustic and cozy. the kind of place that you want to sit in and drink for hours. The beer unfortunately isn’t the kind that you want to sit and drink for hours. I tried a flight of all of their beers as well as a pint of their IPA. Their IPA was ok, probably the most drinkable of all of them. The porter was incredibly sweet. For food, you’re looking at standard pub fare with a focus on tater tots. Definitely good drinking food!

I’ve been going to this place on and off since it opened in the late 1990s. The food is good, service is good, beer is good and it’s not too expensive. I hit the bar once in a while some nights and the music could be better. All in all its a good place.

I’ve been coming to this place for several years now, ever since I moved to the area. It’s located right next to the Woodbridge train station which makes it super easy to get to if you take the train to work and want to grab dinner out without having to drive. As the name of the restaurant would imply, they are a brewery, in fact the fermentation tanks are the first thing you see when you walk in the front door as they are right in the middle of the restaurant. It took me a couple visits to the restaurant to notice that the rest of the brewing equipment is up on the second floor above the bar. My favorite year round beer from them is their Hop Train IPA, however they do have an awesome winter seasonal beer called Barley Legal that I highly recommend you try if they have it. It is served in smaller glass but the ABV us really up there with lots of complex flavors. Food wise I would say it’s above average bar food with some Mexican dishes, sandwiches, entrees, and a monthly special list. Favorite entire I’ve had here include the chicken enchiladas, pistachio crusted tuna, and the chicken tina turner. Only a few dishes I wouldn’t order again: the potato crusted salmon(swimming in oil), crab cake sandwich(small crab cake in a large roll with no garnish) and buffalo chicken wrap(the way they wrap it, just falls apart).

On a perfect November autumn day in New Jersey, what is better than stopping inside for a cold one?! Yesterday was the first time my husband and I ventured into JJ Bitting Brewing Company. We received a nice tour of the place. We already had lunch, but I had enough room to enjoy a hearty Coal Train Porter stout. Tap beers can be sampled prior to ordering, which is nice. We truly enjoyed ourselves in the friendly atmosphere and we will definitely be back — next time for food too!

My fiancé and I decided to come here because it was the only brewery that was convenient(right next to the train station). So the people who worked there were welcoming and friendly so that was a good start. We got the beer sampler which was honestly so great, if you’re reading this, you should try it especially if it’s your first time there. I liked the fact from this sampler, you got to taste the different flavors and figure out which was the best for you. The food was good, nothing to complain about. We will be back soon!

JJ Bitting has always been a favorite of ours(myself and my group of friends). My favorite aspect and the focal point of this place — the beers. Their selection of house made micro brews is fantastic. If you’re not sure what to get, you can always sample or try a flight. Like something too much, take a growler full of it home with you. Where I think JJ has always lacked a bit is their food and service. The food is average, and the service has historically been slow. It always seems like no matter when we come, there’s more of a delay in receiving food here than other places we frequent. Anyway, back to the food… I will say that I like their appetizers more so than the main courses. The butterfly chips(potato chips attached on ends with cheese sauce poured over) and wings are always fantastic. Even their version of the blooming onion isn’t too bad either. The only main courses I like at this point are the fish and chips, and their burger(JJ Bittings Burger). I also like the fact that you can have waffle fries on the side — huge fan of that. Those two items are my «can’t go wrong» ones here, and while I feel less adventurous now to try other items here, I have in the past. There are a ton of items of various flair(pastas, mexican-style dishes, etc.) Parking is limited to street out front or on the side. You can also use the NJ Transit lot in the back for the adjacent train station) as that is free after a certain time on weekdays and all weekend. Come in and try a beer, you can’t go wrong with that.

JJ Bite-ing or JJ Bit-ing? Either way, their burger bit. A group of us went here on a Friday afternoon for lunch for a co-worker’s going away. We might as well have been at the morgue. The place was dead, but in fairness, we rolled in sometime between 1:30 and 2, so there may have been a noon-time rush I wasn’t privy to. In any event, I mistakenly accepted our server’s endorsement of the burger. In addition to the 1⁄3 lb.(maybe) patty clearly being frozen, I could have sent my bun to the NHL to use as a hockey puck. This thing was so stale, I was able to crunch pieces of it off to make it look like snowflakes were falling on my plate. My server brought me a new bun after I asked for one, but not with apology. At least the sweet potato fries and waffle fries were good. Everyone else seemed content, but not thrilled with their food. The only saving graces I see here are: 1) The location(right off the train station) 2) Fair prices. Seven of us ate for just over $ 100. 3) The beer. I really enjoyed the raspberry wheat. Stick to one or more of their 7 drafts or the flight sampler of each and you should leave happy.

This place is pretty awesome. You walk in and right away, it looks great. They show you all the brewing tanks right out in the open. We decided to sit outside in the patio(upstairs) which was really nice. However, super windy that day while also super hot and sunny all at once. The staff were super friendly and awesome. They made sure you were taken care of. I had the tasting menu of the beers because it was so worth it $ 9.99 to try them all, yes please! Victoria’s Golden Ale was my favorite then Avenel Amber. Next would be Raspberry wheat ale, which was light and fruity. Hefeweizen was great. Blackjack gets a little stronger. Ratpack was also a bit more bitter. Then the Hop Train IPA was my least favorite but I am not a big IPA girl. We split the carnival tater tots, which were cooked to pure perfection. So good. Definitely brought me back to my childhood. I decided to do the Dean Winchester special(I coin that term myself). I had the beers ready. Next: a burger! I built my own while my date got the Colorado Burger. Both came out really good. Super greasy though which is a point off for me. It got all over my hands. Also, at medium rare, it was more medium as the meat patty was thin. But hey, it was still delicious. And huge!!! So big. I couldn’t eat all of it. We got a side of the onion rings, which were delicious. This was definitely up there with the tater tots. And I still had a PIE to add to it(this is what makes it the Dean Winchester special, you need all three: beer, burger, and pie). I got the pecan pie a la mode. It came with THREE heaping scoops of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream plus a lot of chocolate syrup drizzled on top of every thing. The pie was warm which was great but the ice cream was partially melted(a lot melted) while some of the scoops were rock hard ice. It was still delicious though! I would definitely return. Just because the beers alone are worth it. Doubt I’ll be trying to achieve the beer, burger, pie specialty again because wow, their portions are GENEROUS here.

This is a local legend. Microbrewery located at the busy Woodbridge business district. They brew and serve some awesome beers! You should try out their samplers… Their range is excellent from light to superstrong. I liked the Woodbridge ale if I am not mistaken. Cloudy and rich with nice fruity overtones. The bar area is separate to the family/group seating. The food is ok. Sliders are great. Wings are good, nice place to chill esp after work. This was a watering hole for most of us locals working in the vicinity. Parking could be an issue the 7⁄11 doesn’t allow you to park and there is a rail station parking that only allows pass owners. Overall I like it. Actually my first experience with a microbrewery in the U.S. It could get pretty crowded evening and weekends. Better to plan ahead. Worthwhile trying this place out.

I really wanted to give this place a better rating. The beer ranges from above average to excellent, although the raspberry wheat tasted a little bit like raspberry Nestea. I really loved the hefeweissen and the oatmeal stout. Unique flavor to stand out, but nothing too outlandish that place them in the novelty category. I highly suggest coming here to try those two out. Their prices are very good. Things here were consistently at least a few dollars less than I’m used to seeing at other gastropub/breweries, including the fact that buffalo meat was either only $ 1 more or even the same price as the beef counterpart. The food itself left much to be desired. My Tubby Burro lacked any flavor that would vaguely resemble Mexican food, despite having rice, beans and enchilada sauce. The mac and cheese was terribly bland. Wings were overcooked. Overall, nobody really raved about the food. The shrimp over french bread with garlic sauce was pretty good, though. As for the service — I’ll start out by saying we were a group of 15 on Father’s Day. Things seemed to start out well as we were one of the first families there right at 3pm on Sunday(opening time). However, as more people started coming in, service started to unravel. Incorrect or forgotten entrees, water and dessert started to plague our experience. The waiter was clearly panicking and even shot back a slightly smart comment at me. It wasn’t much, but it was something that could have(and probably would have) been handled better. Overall, it wasn’t the worst experience, but I truly think this place has potential to be much better.

Microbrewery in central Jersey offering good beer and huge portions of food at a fair price. We found this place after getting bored of eating at the same restaurants over and over. The restaurant is housed in an old train station which gives the place a certain rustic charm(and parking is convenient!). The menu has what you’ve come to expect from American cuisine: burgers, ribs, fries, etc… Great Beer selection, and for those who can’t decide on what entrée get, I recommend the ribs which were huge, juicy, and come with a heapin’ helping of fries. This place did not disappoint in the least.

Beer: I enjoyed their beer sampler. Good IPA, but the Raspberry wheat was my favorite. They also let you purchase a ½ gallon growler of your favorite beer to take home for about $ 13 bucks which is great. Food: The turkey burger was pretty terrible. An extremely unappetizing looking slab that tasted like nothing. The tater tots were pretty good however. Maybe I just ordered the wrong item but I could barely finish the burger. Place is large and has a cozy vibe and pleasant décor. There’s a little train that goes around the seating area. Service was great — super nice waitress.

Very cool interior! Free chips and salsa were pretty bad, just watered down, unflavored goop. Service was very very slow. Beer was eh. Only redeeming quality was that even though the waitress was clueless about the beers(at a brewery?), she did ask one of the brewers to come over and talk about the beers. Food sounded interesting but was a little disappointing. Was hoping for something better but was let down. Wouldn’t come back. Maybe I’m just spoiled when it comes to breweries since I live in NC.
