Needed dinner at 9:30 pm after driving all day. Looked on Unilocal for nearby places. I hate to eat at the chains and like to go with a more local flavor. Pulled in here and was pleasantly surprised. Food: all was good. Meatloaf dinner for me and my daughter had veggie quesadilla. Everything was fresh and temperature appropriate. Only qualm I had was with salad sitting in a pool of water. Service: pleasant yet scarce as other reviewer noted. Could have come around a little more yet great when they did. Overall: if you want a good, hearty meal with a huge selection of items, this is the place for you. No frills, clean and good people. Prices are very good. If you aren’t expecting a world class restaurant and would just like a meal, give it a try.

We went there for breakfast. All was good till we found two long dark hairs in the western omelette. We both have short hair. The waitress did take the omelette off the bill, but wanted to charge for the italian sausage, which we could not eat due to feeling sick after finding hair in the food. The waitress got attitude with us. The belgian waffle was good, but the strawberries on top had not been washed well with pieces of leaves and dirt still on them. This place used to be great, not sure what is going on now.

So, it’s 8:00 on a Saturday night and we are driving home from Atlantic City. We stop to get gas at the Sam’s Club where gas seems to be cheapest(if it is or not is another story). Then we decide to get something to eat. First place we go has a 50 minute wait. Most of the other places the same. So we see this diner with a mostly empty parking lot(that should have been my first clue). We go in and are seated. They give you this menu that must be 10 pages. When the waitress comes over to see what we want, I had only made it through 2 pages. When we say we need a couple of minutes, we get several because it is a while before we see her again. I won’t review what my dad, because I didn’t eat it. I got veal parmigiana with spaghetti. The chicken by itself would have been good as it was nice and tender. The cheese was okay. The sauce was bland, like the cheap crap that they sell in the 5 lb. cans. I think ate 3 forks of spaghetti because I just couldn’t get past the sauce. We had to hunt down the waitress to get the check. There looked like there were probably 4 waitresses working and only maybe 6 tables, so that is inexcusable. I’ve had worse. I drive past this place a couple of times each month, but I doubt that I would ever stop here again.

Very good — a classic diner. Waitress was very nice. I had the tuna melt special, which includes soup, beverage and dessert. It would be hard to do this dish wrong, and they did it very well. I like that it came with tomato, a nice extra. Fries were very good, unlike some other places around here. Rice pudding for dessert, another classic done well. I will be coming back.

Food was good, quite inexpensive, two of us split a Reuben and a salad, and we were quite satisfied. Service was good. TV playing an infomercial in he background was quite distracting, however.

Had dinner here on a busy Saturday evening. Staff was friendly enough, but the service was sub par(I think they were under staffed that evening). Food was fine, nothing great expected, nothing bad served, $ 12 with tip.

Pretty good food for a diner, they are open until midnight I think, close to the highway, friendly waitresses, good service, and reasonable prices. The owner is a friendly Greek guy, there are some Greek dishes on the menu. I got mixed seafood with spaghetti and salad for $ 9, it was a quite large serving of spaghetti with scallops, shrimp, clams, quite good. very old style diner, looks like it hasn’t changed much in 40 years. a good pit stop when headed between Philly and Jersey points like Atlantic City.

I decided to eat at the diner that gave me my first job, The Freeway Diner. I haven’t been there in years and even back when I worked for them, their food was great. All of the staff have a hospitality first attitude and the service was prompt. I ordered the vegetable quesadillas and they were good considering that they were made at a diner. They have a lot of combo deals where you can get an entrée with a drink, soup and dessert. It’s a great place to go if you want a quick bite and a good cup of coffee. I recommend any of their cakes because they are all homemade. The hours are convenient and you’ll be sure to have a good dining experience. Now keep in mind that it is a diner and not a 5 star restaurant. I say this because many diners nowadays blur the lines between upscale restaurants and your standard mom and pop places. If you haven’t been there in a while or ever, stop in and have a great meal.

The good: charming waitress, crisp fries, tasty grilled cheese, yummy cheesecake. The bad: chocolate cakes were mediocre, feta cheese in salad was underwhelming. The ugly: «vegetable lasagna» was a shapeless lump of dull pasta, flavorless cheese, carrot chips and dead broccoli in a catsup-flavored sauce. The lasagna noodles were used like giant spaghetti, not layered like lasagna. Geez, what happened? An onion, a clove or two of garlic, even a halfassed shake of the italian seasoning can would have helped enormously here. That and the architectural skills of any Lincoln Log enthusiast. I’m no Julia Child but I’ve made more convincing lasagna with one hand tied behind my back and tofu in place of cheese. Really disappointing, brought the review down to two stars.

Oh man Freeway ROCKS! This diner really is a greasy spoon but has some delicious food! Last time I was there I got a reuben which came with fries. VERYDELICIOUS. You also can’t go wrong with their soups, sandwiches, and breakfasts. I love this place because it appears as though it hasn’t changed in over 30 years. Waitresses are very friendly and prices are dirt cheap! For a casual lunch or dinner skip Adelphia’s and come here instead!

Freeway Diner looks like a dumpy little dive, but the food is so much better than it lets on. I generally only order one thing here: cheese and mushroom omelette with white toast. Yummo.(Sorry for the Rachael Ray-ism, but it’s the truth!) The food has always stayed consistently good, if you’re looking for a real diner experience, don’t dismiss Freeway. Just because it doesn’t have the same glitz as Phily Diner, you should still stop in. What it lacks in décor, it makes up for in yummy Jersey diner goodness!

This tiny(so it seems) diner looks a bit out-of-place, by a freeway overpass. That’s because it has been there for decades, before the road was widened and development boomed. My relatives used to come here every Sunday after church. We still stop in occasionally. Reliable greasy diner food served in large portions. Order the breakfast items – as with most diners, it’s what they do best. The specials are usually a pretty good deal.
