I don’t eat at Japanese restaurants very often because I hate being disappointed. After living in Japan for five years it’s really hard to find good Japanese food in the United States. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a spicy tuna roll that was generous and had the perfect level of spice. Then I got a Bento Box with tonkatsu and negimaki. I wanted this to be a home run but it was only decent. The tonkatsu it was well done and then negimaki was overcooked. Where they lost me was with the rice, it just was not great. But overall I really did enjoy this meal and it was one of the better Japanese meals I’ve had in a long time.

I came here for a birthday dinner with a few of my girls. Came around 6’ish on a Saturday. Only one other customer besides us, which seemed weird. The waiter was attentive(too attentive if you ask me), the food was pretty good, nothing crazy amazing about it. We had the vegetable Udon which was good; the sweet potato sushi rolls were better than average, the vegetable gyozas were frankly, blechh, just not good. The dessert was amazing. :). Go there for the dessert if anything. The ambiance of the place was relaxing, lights dimmed, The only thing annoying was the staff – Guys, the customers should be louder than the staff. They were giggling and talking like crazy. There were about 8 people working there, in this tiny tiny place. And for some reason it felt like we were being talked about, but no matter. They weren’t outwardly rude or anything, so we didn’t mind, and there was service with a smile. It was overall, a good experience. Try to get a seat far from the register and the sushi station, and avoid the gyozas.

Best sushi ever!!! Very low key and quiet. Affordable normal sushi prices but the best quality fish. Great bento box option for vegetarian.

This is my mommy and son spot. We usually go here for special occasions also. The device is excellent and the food is even better! We love everything on the menu but the duck fried rice is to die for. My son orders from her at least once a week. Best sushi spot in Queens.

Visited this Asian Bistro(mainly Japanese food) near our son’s apartment. Very good sushi overall. Gyoza was tasty and my Chirashi, although not authentically prepared in the bowl was well presented. I would liked more sushi rice. All the sea food was fresh and well sliced. Good sushi rice, which is the life of great sushi. When I come back here, I will be sure to visit this place.

I have been coming here with my family at least once a year ever since this place first opened up a couple of years ago. I haven’t been here in quite a while and was happy when my mom chose to eat here for our Mother’s Day lunch/dinner. It wasn’t too packed, as there was still a couple of tables to sit at, which I was thankful for because I know that some places can get pretty packed for Mother’s Day. The big plus about this place is that they have their lunch special every single day of the week from 11AM-3PM(correct me if I’m wrong). Their lunch specials include sushi rolls, bento boxes and more. Unfortunately, we came in around 4PM so we were unable to get the lunch special but it is something that I usually get when I’m there. I do wish that they had a sushi roll deal even when it’s not lunch hours but that’s okay too. We ordered fried calamari and tempura for our appetizers as we decided what we wanted to eat for our main meal. The fried calamari was good and crispy. I didn’t try the tempura appetizer but I assume it was just as good as my dinner box’s tempura. I ordered the dinner bento box, which comes with a salad, miso soup, shumai, a California roll(ah, when I didn’t know what real sushi was), seaweed salad, rice and two entrees of your choice from a list printed in the menu. I chose unagi and tempura as my two entrees. The tempura was delicious, as per usual and I was happy that the unagi was good as well(since I’ve never had unagi on its own). I’ve always enjoyed the salads that come as a side for a variety of dishes because it’s always fresh and the dressing is always good. The staff serving us was very nice and attentive, refilling our water without us asking and asking how everything was going. They saw that we were struggling to take selfies as a family and took plenty of pictures of us(because we’re annoying) and were really nice about it. They didn’t rush us at all with our meals and when we left, they gave my mom a rose for Mother’s Day which was so sweet! They gave roses to every mother that came in that day and I think that it was a really nice touch to a great meal TLDR; This place is nice, the food is delicious and the service is great. One of my favorite places to eat with my family.

I was really looking forward to some good sushi. Unfortunately everything was a little underwhelming. The spicy tuna was ok I couldn’t bring myself to finish the roll. Also got the beautiful salmon roll which taste like nothing. Probably won’t come back.

One of My favorite sushi restaurant in all of NYC. It has a total 90’s vibe, and the prices are pretty good. Their grilled squid is such a good deal. And the sushi and sashimi is always fresh tasting.

Came here for date night a few weeks a go, it was a bit out of the way for us but what the hell… its a small but comfy space with a friendly staff of workers. The plating and presentation was cute and you get nice size portion for a very decent price. Finding parking in the area is a little hard but that doesn’t take away from this lovely little restaurant.

This review is for delivery only. The ordering process was easy. They said it would take 30 – 40 mins but it took 20 so that was a plus. The delivery guy was polite. Food: Hannah naruto — the cucumber was super thin so it had the potential to break and fall apart but it was super tasty and I liked the eel-like sauce it came with. Yellow tail sashimi and white tuna sashimi — decent size pieces! Some restaurants really jip you off with the sashimi pieces but these were nicely sized and tasted fresh.

I only had delivery so I cannot comment on the dining experience. My coworker and I ordered delivery for lunch. I ordered two rolls– salmon and spicy tuna– and she ordered salmon teriyaki. The restaurant sounded busy and they delivered full 30 minutes after we ordered even though the office is less than three minutes away.(We had to order delivery because we can’t leave the office!) The food was pretty good. The rolls had very little rice on them, which is a huge plus for me. The salmon was decently fresh-tasting. The spicy tuna was good but honestly there was way too much cruchy tempura flakes in the filling compared to actual tuna. To a point where it was hard to tell if the tuna pieces were raw or canned tuna. It tasted ok, just felt like they were unnecessarily skimping on a dish that is already borne out of getting rid of odd pieces of fish. The teriyaki looked very good and the salad and soup were typical.

I walked into my apt and picked one of this delivery menus laying by the front door from this place(T.J. Asian Bistro) I couldn’t help to notice the big menu and well put together. My interest kicked in and couldn’t help my self to drive to the place and see it for my self with my co-pilot(mom). I order The Volcano Roll which it was amazing and very interesting with the spicy flavor 5 stars for sure. The Chicken Teriyaki was delicious not to mention the size of the portion was perfect for 2 people the Smoked Salmon Fried Rice I have to say it is my favorite meal and apparently is one of the most popular dishes at the restaurant, to finish up with the Red Velvet Cake was one of my greatest ideas of the day! I give this place 5 stars because the service and ambiance was perfect and the food made me a happy camper!

Great sushi. Fresh fish. Thick and generous. So much better than the«Takesushi». The salmon was tasty and«fatty», rice is ok. Not too sweet that I feared it would be. I’m going back soon to try more of their selection of rolls and sashimi. Can’t wait!

This place was DELICIOUS. The apps, the sushi, the drinks, the service. What a wonderful dinner! I feel I should also tell you something not so positive that ended up being very positive. First off, this place looks spotless. The service is GREAT. However, one of our rolls had some odd burnt end of something in it. We didn’t know what it was, and it looked a bit odd. We called them over, and they apologized PROFUSELY. They even confirmed they had accidentally dropped something from the fryer into the sushi. They took off all the booze from the bill and the sushi roll that was tainted. THINGSHAPPEN. Sometimes you get a hair in your food, sometimes your fork isn’t clean. It’s how an establishment handles the situation that counts. I would 100% recommend this place.

Pros: 1) Very nice décor. A great environment for a casual date, or dinner with friends/family. 2) Presentation of food. 3) Sushi was fresh, with plenty of avocado. 4) Friendly service. Cons: 1) While the food presentation was amazing, the flavor was lacking. The shrimp pineapple fried rice had no flavor and was very bland.

Ah my love for TJ’s has unfortunately waivered. I suppose it’s true, nothing lasts forever. Regardless, this is still a top notch establishment in Sunnyside, just no longer 5 stars. What has waivered is their service. I’ve had numerous experiences now where the service was lackluster. 1. I once placed and order for pickup. I was a pescetarian at the time and ordered tofu teriyaki. When got home with m food, I realized they accidentally gave me chicken teriyaki. When I called them, they did not take ownership of their error. I remember distinctly saying tofu teriyaki and the woman on the phone repeating it when I ordered. Instead of offering to remake my order, they offered me a free appetizer for my next visi. I would have appreciated them accepting their mistake. 2. One waitress in the restaurant is far too eager. She would take my food away before I was done. The food is still delicious at the right prices, despite the above.

3.5 Stars: Not the greatest sushi place to ever exist, but this place will do as an extremely budget friendly place to get your quick sushi/Japanese fix in Woodside/Sunnyside. Lunch specials! Available all week! Take advantage of their 3 rolls for $ 10.50. –Shrimp Tempura Roll: Straight up just crispy shrimp tempura. Highly recommended. –Spicy Tuna: Not as spicy, but there’s tempura flakes for the crunch in there. –Hawaii Roll: Pretty much a spicy tuna roll with a bit of crab in there. Probably passable. Wifey got the Salmon Teriyaki lunch box(other main options available too) with soup, salad, rice, shumai and a California roll… and all only for $ 9. The fried shumai was the star here, salmon was just a bit too well done, California roll was mostly avocado. Quantity over quality here. The sushi rolls are on the smaller and skinnier side for the cheaper price. They’re decently constructed and without all the rice filler. Ambiance is simple and casual, service is efficient and attentive. Will probably be back for their special rolls which are wallet friendly as well.
