El Mirador

We come here a lot. We love the staff they are so friendly. The food is always good. The salas is yummy! Fresh pico is my favorite here. They waiters always come check on us and do refills often.

Okay first off when I came here I was skeptical because El Porton got me sick every time I went there and this restaurant didn’t get me sick at all! I ordered the tacos which are $ 1.99 each. I ordered the pork tacos which they gave me tortilla chips, refried beans, and salsa! This place had very nice/​fast service!

Love this place! Sometimes on the weekend the music is a little loud but the food is authentic and over all good. They make homemade tortillas and the service is pretty good.

Came in from out of town to visit family and we came here bc they wouldn’t stop bragging about their enchiladas. So let’s go right!!? Wrong! The service was appalling. We walked in with a baby and 5 in our party. The hostess was beyond rude. She gave us our menus (which were dirty btw) and left, didn’t say a word, while my mother stood there with my son, she didn’t come back as we thought she was getting a high chair. So after a few minutes I found the high chairs myself and we were all able to sit down. The hostess finally came back with chips, salsa and drinks and left again. People that were seated after us had their orders taken before us. Took forever to find someone to ask for straws. Finally another waitress came and took our order. She was extremely curt. No one smiles in this place?! All the while the hostess that had seated us was slamming chairs and tables and seemed like she could carless about the paying customers she was serving. I’m assuming she was having a bad day. When the wait staff has a bad attitude it makes for a very unpleasant experience. The food… eh it was ok. The rice was off, the beans were beans and the enchiladas were ok The chicken in mine was a bit dry. The attitudes on those waitresses need some serious adjusting.

I’ve been to El Mirador twice so far, the food is great and something to look forward to. The problem with this restaurant is their service, they are rude and slow to serve. I’m also the last person to accuse of racism but it is a common occurrence for people who are white to be served before people of color, it’s a Mexican restaurant serving Mexicans last. If this restaurant would get its employees to act like they want to work instead of ruining the mood of those who are PAYING to eat then this location would get possibly 4 stars. But for the attitude of the servers it gets 1.

Four years later and El Mirador is still serving great Mexican seafood. We went last Saturday. Got in around 5:30 and the place was mostly deserted, which meant we could kick back and watch Sabado Gigante with the staff as we waited for our meals. After six o’clock the place filled up quickly.
The shrimp cocktail and carne aside are still excellent. My wife had the Mariscos El Mirador, which was good but may be too spicy for some. Still five stars, still highly recommended.

Went there today had a long wait to order food. The wait person was polite but rarely came near our table to see if we needed refills on drinks or chip refills. The Waite for the food was over twenty minutes. I will not be going again. If you don’t mind waiting for your food or drinks then this is the place to go. The food was nice and hot. Food Portions were ok as well.

This has to be the worst «Mexican» food I have ever tasted. Coming from seattle I feel Yakima would have tons of authentic Mexican places. This restaurant was far from it.
We weren’t sure if this would be authentic, should have Unilocaled and with one photo I see now I could have saved myself a horrible meal. The moment I walked in I knew it would be tex mex.
Came in with 3 other adults so I have a comment on each dish. SO DISAPPOINTED in each meal.
So to begin, the chips were actually decent. Good quality tortilla. The aguas frescas weren’t really fresh, just powders. I have to say this is the first place I have ever been that’s worse then Azteca. The first place about 80% of their food is canned. I could possibly guarantee it.
I ordered the enchiladas suizas, which were more like enchiladas verdes not what I was expecting. Suizas always go good with pork so I ordered the pork. I have never been so disgusted by any meat as I was this one. I have no idea where the hell they got this meat. It was SO NASTY. I can’t even describe it. I am the type of person to just leave things if they have hair In it or if it has a bad taste just because I hate complaining. I was going to return my plate but when I cut into the other enchiladas it was chicken. A mistake on their part but it had no flavor. Better then tasting like rubber tires.
They DO NOT use real cheese here. Or nacho cheese. They use some kind of fake yellow cheese. I have honestly never seen this cheese before. My friends nachos were lame, luckily she got the small size. Other friend got the combo plate. Had small nachos, quesadilla, chicken wings, jalapeño poppers and taquitos. She took a bite out f each and returned the plate. Every thing was horrible. Chicken wings were moist, slimy and covered In a dark chalky sauce. Guacamole was brown. Full of fake cheese. Manager took it off her, didn’t ask if she wanted something else or even come to table.
I don’t understand how I saw a bunch of Hispanics eating there. Maybe there’s something really good on the menu that we missed. HATR going. To horrible Mexican joints that are run by actual Mexicans. I know you don’t go home and cook that stuff so why have it on your menu.
Will never ever return. Horrible. Worst I have ever had. I know this is a brutal review but much needed. I’m sure they got the clue we didn’t like it. Each plate on the table had only about 10% eaten. Literally.

A favorite stop when we come to Yakima. Love the warm tortilla chips with beans and fresh salsa. You can watch them make fresh tortillas. I had the macho burrito this time. Delicious and served on hot plate. Food came right away. Great friendly service. love the ceiling lights.
