Came here for a retirement luncheon where a pasta bar, with salad, chicken, and garlic bread was served. Only the garlic bread was edible. No exaggeration, nothing had any flavor at all. The«alfredo» was more like milk, the red sauce was closer to ketchup, the pasta was rubbery, and the salad was a huge pile of lettuce with a few sliced veggies sprinkled on top(once the first few were served, it was just lettuce). Even the water tasted funny. I don’t know if this is just a problem with their banquet/event catering, or if this is how the restaurant is normally, but we seemed to be the only people in the whole place, so I know it wasn’t because the kitchen was too busy. I definitely wouldn’t eat there again. *Yuck*

I’ve been to Ruthy’s(and events catered by their staff) at various times over the years and the food has always been good, but today was the first time I went for their Sunday brunch. It was Easter, so the place was packed and the staff was constantly busy– yet they were very attentive, helpful, and friendly. The food was delicious and there were so many choices! It is pricey but as I said, the service was wonderful. And you can’t beat endless mimosas! Will definitely come for Sunday brunch again sometime. I’d definitely recommend it.(Get reservations if planning to go on a busy Sunday– Easter, Mother’s Day, etc.)

The food of the menu is ok but overpriced. The salad bar on the other hand is gross! I have found mold on the bread and all the veggies look like they have reused them for several days. Also I got over charged on a desert so I said something, instead of admitting the mistake she was very rude about the situation I don’t think I will ever go there again. Maybe the should hire nicer staff and a better cook

This place rocks! Bottomless mimosa breakfast/brunch is awesome and I’m so glad there is a spot in Yuba City that does this. Usually don’t see that in small cities. Awesome customer service.

I thought I would be nice and take a couple of friends to a so called«nice» breakfast spot. I would’ve been better off takin a dump on a plate and serving them that because it was absolutely disgusting, the enchiladas literally smelled like ass. I almost cried when I had to pay 60 bucks for 3 people, including myself to eat food that I wouldn’t even feed my dogs. I’m not a really big critic when it comes to eating out, but I was VERY unhappy with ruthys

I have been here several times. The food is always pretty good. It does have a nice quiet atmosphere. The price is a little high for the quality though.

One of the few places that has a decent salad bar. Speaking of bars, Ruthy’s is a great place for some cocktails too! If you are a big breakfast eater brunch on Sundays is your place.

Sunday brunch is the meal to have at this place. Great variety! Made-to-order omelettes and a carving station, along with a fabulous salad bar and yummy desserts. It gets a bit noisy inside, so ask to sit in the little courtyard-type area to keep the noise down. If you like champagne, you will be one happy camper. I came for lunch one day and thought the place had been taken over by aliens. The service was non-existent; they were out of many menu items and I hated myself for spending money there.

In the culinary [and cultural] wasteland that is Yuba City, Calif., this restaurant passes for«elegant’ dining among the locals, some of whom regularly frequent it with rave reviews. The food, to this S.F. Bay Area transplant, is singularly unspectacular. There is a buffet with tired looking food, too often over-the-hill lettuce, cyclically predictable steam table entrees and soups. Perhaps the worst entrée offering: the Friday night dried out rubber fish in a foul tasting sauce. The Friday chicken tortilla soup is not bad, however. I usually fill up on that, a carefully selected salad, and the tasty warm herb bread [with COLDBUTTER pats] brought to the table upon being seated. One may also order off the menu from very much overpriced entrees, sides of a tasty salad, often too garlicky potatoes, and badly done vegetables, I usually order the chicken quesadilla ala carte, which is quite good, depending on who is working the line. Some evenings, the clientele is mostly over-imbibing elders who meet weekly in congenial groups that become louder and more intrusively raucous as their wine flows and the evening progresses. The wine list is for the most part mediocre domestic, too young, though apparently thought to be top notch by the sommelier. If you are in Y.C. and must eat, hit In/Out Burger. Definitely more ‘bang for your buck.’

The Sunday Brunch is AMAZING!!! Great food, great champagne, actually purchased a bottle and the staff was AMAZING! This place is definitely in an obscure location, but very intimate and lovely. We will be back again soon.

found one staff member to be racist, while she was nice to all the non-colored folks once i asked her a question i got a short answer with a not so nice attitude, didn’t expect this since i asked nicely and was there for a family event. So my sister went up to the serving area where she was working and asked her where something was and she was alarmingly rude. I would personally never go there again.

Yuba City is not especially known for its cuisine. If Ruthy’s is any indication I know why. The management has gone out of its way to hide this little gem in the most obscure location possible inside a rather mundane mini-mall in one of the older sections of town. Had lunch there for the first time today and I have to say that the one thing that stood out was the high caliber of the ingredients in my dish. One of the best Club Sandwiches ever due to the ham. Fab!

While I am not all too familiar with the inner workings of the restaurant business, it seems to me that the owners/managers of this much-less-than-fine eatery shoot themselves in the proverbial foot with the way they treat their staff. The food is bland and tasteless, which they try to repair by getting their customers drunk, which fails to account for the lack of «yum-factor». But their cookies are pretty darned good. Popular with the older, tastebudless generations, this is a restaurant you won’t miss when expelled from the weekly eatery line-up.

I like Ruthy’s for lunch when I am in Yuba City on business, primarily because the salads are good and nothing like this is available, to my knowledge, anywhere else in Yuba City or Marysville. Service is ok to slow. Portion size more than adequate. It’s missing personality; that’s the best explanation I can give. The seating seems weird; there is a cramped, awkward area outside the restaurant in an inside mall, some diners walk across the mall lobby from a remote dining room, some diners disappear into a back room and come out with heaping plates and then have to walk across the mall lobby, and some people go into the small bar to place their orders or find a server. It just seems chopped up. So, I just go for the food and forget about any cohesive atmosphere.

Ah. The home to my friends’ and my «Drunken Brunch Sundays.» Great brunch buffet and endless mimosa refills! It’s a little pricey… but again, I said«endless mimosa refills»!!(Well, unless you get cut off, which has happened before.) Good food for a buffet and there’s a guy that will scramble you up an omelet exactly how you want it right then and there. Usually«Drunken Brunch Sundays» extend into«Way Wasted All-day Sundays» since when you’re already trashed by noon, the only thing to do is to hit the bars and keep on going…
