I am a man of simple tastes, and this is what this place serves up. It is nice and simple and its tasty enough at a decent enough price. I have went here on a number of occassions with my friends Conor and Bernie and we have never failed to have a good time. The last time we went we all went for bugers and chips, as well as getting a bucket of corona between us allow us to get nice and socially lubricated/a bit hammered. The service was excellent all night, the girls who served us didn’t even seem to mind that we tried to flirt with them everytime they brought us something. It can’t of been much fun for them to be honest, the more drunk we got the more flirty we got which I can only imagine was a complete mess. They didn’t even shout at us when Conor spilt a beer. Top service and a fun place to grab a bite to eat. Other reviewers have complained about the prices but I think they’re fine. Well worth checking out if you want some uncomplicated food.

American diner with a difference. And that difference is that you pay Top notch restaurant prices for a massive feed of tasteless horrible ‘American’ food. I mean seriously how can you balls up nachos and a burger — apparently you can! I was lured in as per usual by the décor, I’d say many a sucker fell for that. Superman and a motorbike makes me think happy days but I left disappointed — Superman did not save the day. The nachos were tasteless and the mini scoop of guacamole and sour cream were not enough to even moisten the big bag of Doritos, I mean nachos they just poured on my plate. I had to ask for more dips and had to pay for them. My burger was dry and over cooked and there was nothing exceptional about the place really. The two counter staff stood chatting and it was difficult to get their attention. I did enjoy the tunes from the jukebox but that was about it. As someone who has dined in real American diners across America I felt they were perhaps trying to hard to be something they weren’t very good at.

Yeah… so…Springsteens…not a fan… The food just isn’t good enough for what they charge. I understand the other branch(Lisburn Road, maybe?) is much nicer, but to be fair, it couldn’t be any worse! About the only thing it has going for it in my eyes is the size of the portions, but I’d rather have half a plate of good food than a whole trough full of bad!

Ah, Springsteen’s. I was on my precious one-hour break from work of an evening, on my travels. I was going to one of my usual haunts on Botanic Avenue but was enticed by an advertising sign outside said restaurant, and thought I’d give it a bash. I can’t fault the service in any way, the folks that took care of me were great. But… I’m pretty confident that I was fleeced. I paid far too much for a chicken breast which was meant to have a chorizo cream sauce(I LOVE chorizo). You know that horrible, processed, sliced and packaged stuff you get in Tescos? The best thing about this place is the painting of Superman on the wall. Won’t be back.

Springsteens is the overpriced and not quite as good version of a mix between TGI’s and the Hard Rock Café! The décor is über americanised, with booths, a jukebox and Harley Davidsons! The menu consists of the usuals, steak, ribs(yum), salads, chicken, burgers.etc. And to be fair the food is nice and the portions aren’t bad but you could probably get a meal cheaper in the upmarket Deane’s that in here! Way overpriced for what it is and this surprises me as its smack bang in student land?! How has it survived?

The main thing that resonates with this place in regards to the US is the portion size which I will get onto in due course. Springsteens(possible named after ‘The Boss’ or possible actually named after… the boss) has been open for several years in the busy student area of Botanic. It’s not the sort of place that springs to mind when you say, where should we go for dinner? I’ve been to the US on a few occasions and this does remind me a bit on a TGI Friday’s type joint. American kitsch styling, which includes a Harley Davidson motorbike if memory serves me correct. The food is a mish-mash of US meets Mexican, a gargantuan laminated menu with burgers, steaks, ribs, chicken and the usual accoutrements. I had ribs with a side of garlic potatoes and corn on the cob. It was fine, the ribs were tender and fell off the bone(I’m going to have to find another way of describing well cooked meat such as lamb shank and ribs because I must have used falling off the bone five or six times since I began Unilocaling) The portions are large, the food messy and filling however the prices are a bit on the ridiculous side. The equivalent diner in the US would love to charge the prices Springsteens does but it obviously can’t. A main is hitting in at the same price as dinner at somewhere like Ginger Bistro, Deanes Bistro or any other medium-high priced restaurants(of which there are many) in the city centre. It’s all ‘grand’ as people often say but it’s not memorable, it’s over-priced and expect a heap of heartburn.

Wow! I honestly always try and think of both the positives and the negatives of a place I’ve been. People are just trying to make a living, I understand that. But Springteens appears to be making its living charging me more than the cost of a small car for what could only be described as a very average steak! If I pay close to £20 for a steak in an ‘American style diner’ I want Buddy Holly dug up and singing songs in the booth next to me. On top of the disappointing food, they haven’t really even made a fair attempt to kit out the restaurant in the fashion of an American Diner. It looks like a public hall hosting a bad play version of Happy Days. Save yourself some time and a lot of money; go to one of the 6⁄7 restaurants on the same road. I’m not saying they are all better; but they can’t be worse!

I’m sorry to those Springsteens fanatics(I do actually know two) who would rather receive a voucher for here instead of an xbox or a laptop or George Clooney but I just don’t get it. The food is waaayyyy over-priced and it’s just fine. My girlfriend and I were full after it but we’re also full after 10 pints and I know which one I would rather have. The ribs in fairness to them were grand and they have tried particularly hard to get that ‘60s-Grease-type vibe going on, but it just seems like a knock-off version of a Hard Rock Café. It’s fine if you love it but really? I always imagined an American diner to be better. Perhaps movies have lied to us.

Terribly overpriced for Tex-Mex, low– quality food. Horrible, as I love Tex– Mex grub… definitely wouldnt go back. The place was like a «greasy spoon» café, with pretentious prices.

It does seem like this place can be a bit pricey but there is a good early bird deal from 5 to 7pm. The choice for this deal is quite limited but it you can get a main and dessert for around £12. I do have to say the quality of the food was just OK, nothing special and I don’t think I would go back in a hurry.

A nice, easy place to visit if you’re in the area. This is an American themed diner, nicely designed. It’s a casual place, a place that’s allows you to relax in it. Though it’s a diner, the mainstay of what this place is, rather than somewhere for typical United States diner food, is more or less really a Mexican restaurant. Though there are a few other options, including pizzas and a few snacks. And despite the diner café theme, I was surprised that the food was of a very good standard. O.K., so, as a previous reviewer has tagged, I thought the menu prices were too expensive each time I went in for some food. But there are a few options at lesser prices, and I had one of these when I have eaten there. I can’t remember the name — I get mixed up between Enchillidas, Quesidillas, Fajitas, Burritos and so on. It was a quite reasonable price for what it was, Mexican vegetarian food. And it was very good, not what I’d expect from a café. This was eat out restaurant style food. I would return when in the vicinity for food and drinks — you don’t have to buy food here, you can enjoy the place with soft drinks, wine or beer or tea /cofffee. The nag remains though that most of the menu really is overpriced. I have heard that the portions of the more expensive(normal) dishes are large so it may be more worth paying the high prices, but I thought this is a bit far from what people want in a diner kind of place. But the place is not too busy. For the location near the university and since Botanic Avenue has become noticably popular with residents and visitors to the city, Springsteens is not too far from quiet. And I can’t help thinking that this is because of the prices, and that the place would have more regular patrons and drop in visitors with lower prices. So, price aside, this is a nice place to eat and drink in and the food is good. I’d return for the one or two cheaper options on the menu I found. But then again there are many good places to eat around here — like Dukes at Queens Bistro, Metro(though expensive), Renoir, Scalini, The Empire can have good food, Madisons etc. — that choosing somewhere when you really want to have a good menu choice which isn’t overpriced means I could go elsewhere. I’ll give it four stars for the place and the food, but the value is a big negative point for this location. I mentioned it’s a casual place, and nice, but I’d rather not pay so much for a casual and easy atmosphere.

This place is fantastic. I was first introduced to it when at university and have been coming back ever since. The portions are massive so you could never master a full 3 course meal. As a group we would normally either go in for dessert if we arrive late or just have the main course. I’ve never tried the starters but I’d say they are good. The hot chocolate is also great. It comes in a massive cup!!!

Fantastic food at Springsteens in Botanic especially as a hangover cure. American based with nachos, burgers, fajitas etc. Very large menu to choose from. Good interior and friendly service.

Springsteen’s is you typical american diner and it does the diner bit very well. The menu is extensive and has everything from burgers to fajitas, pancakes to pizza. I think it is the best place in Belfast for Saturday or Sunday Brunch with friends. They cater really well for children and the service is friendly and fast. Definately the place for great comfort food that is reasonably priced. My mouth is watering as i write this for their french toast, bacon and maple syrup yum yum!

students love this place and so do I. it is a really cool little hang out for pre-night out eats, and they have a really good range of food. its always busy and well located within the centre of belfast’s student area. with their assocation with the boss to their credit they do put on really good music but the boss must be making the food out the back because they are expensive with burger and chips over the £10 mark. there are a lot of student type places within a 2 minute walk, which are really busy and there are a lot of drinks promotions in them. there is also a lot of accomadation avaialbe in this area, including Dukes which is just over the road from Springsteens.

Brilliant wee food place, had the hugest T Bone steak I’ve ever seen in my life in there!!! Food is excellent, décor is magic, and the staff are very chatty! A little more expensive, but well worth paying for.

I love this place. Good ol’ American diner, with good music and great food. It’s a little expensive(about £10-£12 for burger/chips) but the atmosphere is good, it’s well decorated and there’s usually pretty decent music playing.
