Dooleys has been a Paisley institution for years. Family and friends have used this place so when I was picking up a gift voucher then I thought I’d check out their kit. I think this is probably a bit of a boys shop as a lot of the kit looked to be aimed at men but there are bikes for all. I also sought advice on the best type of bike for me. I had heard about the Bike to Work scheme and also was curious about what my best options were. I was given full info on how the scheme worked, what type of bikes would be suitable and also what would best suit my needs. Time was spent explaining all this to me, without making me seem like a dumb girl which I appreciated. So, I had a good experience here and I’m currently investigating bike to work as I’d return to Dooleys to get my bike and kit :-)

I used to use this place a lot for picking up tubes and the odd can of chain oil. So, after a winter of staying off the bike, I was ready to get it de-rusted and trued up. The bike went in for a three day stay of Spring maintenance. When I got it back the wheel had been replaced, which was required, and the chain had been oiled and such. However, the bike was as dirty as when I brought in and one of the tires was flat. I was going to go back but after paying almost a hundred quid, but I thought that it would easier to push it home and sort it myself. There seems to be a class system in place. If you are a roadie or a member of the racing clubs they love you. If you are a disheveled hybrid rider with urban bad boy to sort out, they are not that fussed.
