Aldi gets a bad rap, but I like it. This shop is a little further away from Reading Town Centre in the middle of a mostly residential area. Therefore a decent size parking area. Aldi keeps their cost down by limiting the number of choices and the staff in the shop. They typically only have one or two items and it’s not always the exact name brand that you might be expecting. Quality is still good. Service is minimal — other than a few shelf-stockers and one or two on the till(«register» in American), there’s no one there to help. Produce, personal care, large frozen section as well as a good choice for beer, win and even spirits. Three tips: — Bags are not free here — you either bring your own or you purchase them as you pack. — They do NOT accept credit cards or checks. It’s cash or debit card only. — You need a £1 coin to «borrow» a trolley(«cart» or «wagon» in American), but you get it back when you return it to the corral.
