I stumbled across this restaurant on New Years Eve 2016 while roaming the streets of Barcelona. The location is tucked away in what looks like an alley so I was a little apprehensive, but decided to give it a try. I was greeted right away, given a nice seat and a glass of house wine. The restaurant is pretty small and feels like you’re eating at someone’s house, very comfortable. I had the steak tournedos with yam soup and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Included with the meal was a potato truffle dish that blew me away, honestly it was the best potato dish I’ve ever had, still researching on how to recreate it… Service was very friendly with limited english, but the daily menu was printed out in english for me. When the clock struck midnight everyone was given champagne and 12 grapes, a Spanish tradition, the place felt like family. I loved it so much I came back the next night and had the pork dish. I didn’t like it as much as the steak, but still very good. Definitely recommend 18 Octubre.

Visited this restaurant during our first trip to Barcelona, recommended to us by a friend of the chef. Received a warm welcome, and was offered a surprise tasting menu selected by the chef to showcase Catalan cuisine. Started with a tasty amuse bouche(egg tart topped with sliver of fish), followed by a creamy chicken and ham croquette, a flavorful mix of fava beans and green peas, a golden mussel risotto, a lightly crisped fish over a bed of roasted peppers, then smoked duck breast and layered potatoes with foie gras. Dessert came as a regional Catalan cheesecake, and we finished with a bite of dark chocolate wrapped in warm, crisp phyllo. The meal was absolutely delicious from beginning to end, well-prepared, and presented beautifully. The atmosphere was warm and intimate, filled with well-dressed locals. If you are looking to try a place off the tourist path, I would highly recommend Octubre18.
