A lovely little café tucked away in the back streets. We had yummy tostadas con Serrano ham y tomate and were pleasantly surprised by it’s very cheap price. £10 for two of us for 4 coffees, food and a bottle of water. It reminded us a lot of cosy cafés back in the UK with great artwork from local creatives, books and board games. Definitely going back for more! Great service too :)

Tucked away in a corner behind two massive ornate wooden doors, LilliPep is perfectly cozy. Their selection of old books for sale, mini chess sets, and comfy couches implies that you should stay a while.
And they’re generous too! The Carajillo, espresso shot with rum, comes with a DOUBLE shot of rum for € 2. The cappuccino is extra foamy, too.
They also sell longanisa sandwiches (½ or full size), beer and wine, and tapas.
With its inexpensive prices, warm cozy atmosphere, great service and free wifi, it’s a perfect place to curl up with a coffee and a book.

I am studying abroad in Barcelona and always on the hunt for good cafes to study in. Lilipep has a cozy atmosphere, free wifi, and yummy snacks. The coffee is delicious and all of the wines and beers are extremely well priced compared to other places. You can stay here for as long as you like with a big group or by yourself. The staff is extremely friendly and speak fairly good English if your Spanish is a little rusty. I’m going to keep coming back here, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to study or to rest their feet between sites.

Absolutely wonderful place to sit and study! Great food and coffee with a nice relaxing atmosphere.

Bonne bouffe pas trop cher pour le coin. Cheese cake et carroyé cake à la carte ;) cadre sympa.

I’ve been here a few times now, so I think a review is in order.
Café con leche — 1.4 euros — Standard
Carrot cake — 3.5ish euros — Good. I don’t think they make it here, so it doesn’t reflect too much on the café it self. That’s my opinion.
The ambiance is what gets me. It’s quiet usually, and can get a little bit more busy at certain times. It’s dimly lit with chill music in the background. There aren’t many outlets, but there is free WiFi. It’s the perfect place to come and get away from the bustle of the city and get some work done.
The first time I went, I didn’t order anything, I had left my wallet back at home and I was meeting a friend there so she ordered something. The second time, I felt a little unwelcome. However, the third time, was more pleasant. The lady (different from the second time) smiled and offered me a menu. Then after a bit, she shyly came up to me and asked if I wanted a menu in English. I said I could understand and thanked her. I thought that was really sweet of her.
All in all, I’ll definitely be coming back until my time in Barcelona is up.

This place is a hidden gem. I haven’t been to many coffees shops in Barcelona, as I was only there for a week and upon Unilocaling what places to go to brunch in the area, this was one of the first that popped up. It is filled with locals and not a tourist trap. A boho/​hipster theme, it was a perfect way to enjoy a cappuccino and some casual tapas for brunch. I started off with some warm muesli, then we had some hummus with spiced chips, followed by some cheese and almond tapas. We then went ahead and ordered a cheesecake and delicious orange wine cake for dessert. Definitely take the time to come here, it is not overly packed, it is quiet, and just a quaint and pleasant atmosphere!

Ricos bocadillos, deliciosas tartas, buen café, personal cercano y libros. En las paredes, fotonovelas. En los rincones, sofás. En el ambiente, arte y literatura. Se puede hablar, pues la música es tranquila y está a un volumen perfecto. Se puede trabajar porque hay enchufes.
¿Se puede pedir algo más?

One of the best coffee shops in Barcelona. A true hidden gem. Please don’t go there if you’re a loud tourist. Because, I’m there enjoying a calm and contemplating coffee experience.

I was wandering through the El Born district one evening and the cozy warmth of this place drew me in. Like others said, comfy couches, books and a few tables (only one outside). I had two glasses of the house red wine, a yummy grilled sandwich of goat cheese, onion marmalade and walnuts (I think!). I asked for a small side salad. All was cheerfully brought to my table without too much of a wait. My bill was 6.5 euros… total.
Others were eating salads, plates of meat and cheeses, and desserts. All looked to be a wonderful quality. Go, relax, enjoy.

Lillipep es un lugar curioso y encantador. Escondido en una de las laberínticas calles del Born, te invita a entrar solo, sentarte, pedir un café y disfrutar de la tranquilidad para leer un rato. Es una de las cosas que me gusta ir a hacer allí cuando fuera llueve.
Nadie te molestará, ni clientes ni dueño del local, que cuida bien de que el lugar conserve ese ambiente de paz que atrae a buena parte de su clientela.
También es un buen rincón al que acudir con un amigo íntimo sólo para charlar y disfrutar de alguna de sus tartas.
Invita a pensar, hablar, relajarte… casi como si estuvieras en el salón de tu casa.
¿Y las tres estrellas? Pues porque a pesar de ser un sitio maravilloso y diferente, parte de su encanto está en que es viejo, con cosas antiguas y recicladas, y las sillas no son demasiado cómodas. Pero ve, te gustará!

When I’m in town, this is one of our coffee/​tea spots. We come here often with friends because it’s intimate and cozy. For a small place, they have a great standard menu and good service. During certain hours they also serve hot food, but I’m usually here for the coffee and tea. My inner sweet tooth I wishes they had more cakes!

Das Café LiliPep gehört zu meinen absoluten Lieblingsorten in Barcelona
und ist Gott sei Dank nicht so touristisch überlaufen, obwohl es sich
nur eine Straße weiter vom Picasso Museum befindet. Das Café ist absolut
charmant, vor der Theke befindet sich ein kleiner Chill Out-​Bereich mit
Polstermöbeln, im Eingangsbereich sind normale Tische. Zu Lesen muss
man sich nichts mitbringen, denn hier gibt es zahlreiche Bücher (zum
kleinen Preis zu kaufen) und Zeitschriften, außerdem kann man wechselnde
Ausstellungen bewundern. Der Milchkaffee (1,30 EUR) wird
Barcelona-​untypisch mit Keks gereicht. Als ich heute nachmittag da war,
gab es eigentlich außer Kuchen nichts zu Essen (die Küche macht erst
gegen 18:30/19:00 auf), aber freundlicherweise wurde mir hausgemachte
Tortilla de Patatas mit Salatbouquet für nur 3,50 EUR angeboten. Insgesamt
ist der Laden absolut nett, wunderbar um sich in der Zeit zu verlieren
und dem hektischen Großstadtleben zu entkommen. Empfehlenswert!

We stumbled upon this café as we were meandering through La Ribera, and were immediately drawn in by the atmosphere. This place had everything I was looking for — interesting art up on the walls, comfy couches to while hours away, books to read (if I could read Spanish or Catalan books, that is).
Unfortunately, their kitchen isn’t open between 6 and 8 pm, but we were still able to snack on some deadly hot chocolate (so worth the potential artery clogging), wine, olives and cake. Service was friendly and reasonably quick. Would definitely want to come back here to grab tapas — although the menu isn’t extensive. Really close to Picasso Museum, Palau Dalmases, and a whole bunch of cool leather goods and art/​souvenir shops.

Hacía frío aquél sábado de curro. Puff. Cansada, agobiada me pasé por el Lilipep a tomarme una Tila en la barra. Allí el frío no se notaba. Me sentó taaaaan bien esa Tila. Puffffff. Es taaaaaaaaan pero taaaaan agradable ese lugar que iré con más frecuencia porque me da paz, me anima, me siento como en casa. Volví con mis padres a ese rincón no hace mucho, ahora que lo recuerdo los llevé, síííííí, quería que vieran y sintieran qué se vive allí dentro en Lilipep. También llevé a mi amiga y como nunca ese día en vez de brindar con té, lo hicimos con unas San Miguel. Suena al revés pero en Lilipep es mejor ir por sus tés. Hoy, mi cuerpo tuvo síntoma de Lilipep y allí me fui a esconder ooootra vez con mi amigo Juan para charlar de la vida y sus avatares. Comí un pastel italiano sabor vainilla. Esta vez nos sentamos en la mesa redonda apenas entrás. Suuuuuper cómoda pq podés poner tus pies un poco en altura ahí por debajo. Si prestas atención hay una camarera que es la reencarnación de Frida Kahlo. Es igual. Hoy, Frida no estaba. Seguramente debe haber librado. I love Borne. Soy una fan de Lilipep, cuando quieras quedamos y vamos! Qué te parece? See you there, dale? Voilà!

LiliPep es de esos precisos rincones escondidos que te demuestran que tu ciudad todavía tiene cosas que pueden sorprenderte. Si no sabes adónde vas, es basante difícil dar con ella, pero si sigues bien las indicaciones, está ahí, tímida y escondida, una de las cafeterías más preciosas y curiosas de Barcelona.
Y mira que su decoración es asá, descuidada y como medio dejada, metida en un edificio de piedra, con sus sillones y sus mesas colocados con poco ton y sin ningún son, totalmente ajena a modas provenzales y otras cosas que están teniendo lugar más arriba de la Diagonal. Sus paredes están decoradas con recortes de fotonovelas setenteras y por ellas se reparte alguna que otra estantería cargada con libros viejos que te indica que estás en un sitio ideal para leer tranquilo. Y es cierto, en su interior se está de lujo: en invierno es una delicia tomarse un café (y lo hacen muuy rico) con alguna de sus deliciosas tartas (ojito a la de chocolate con plátano porque debería de pagar impuestos de lo buena que está), y dejar las horas pasar: ya sea en compañía de alguno de los libros que están repartidos por allí o de otra más…humana.

We passed by this place so often and it always looked so cozy and snug, especially in the rain. Wonderful bare bulbs hung from the ceiling, colorful books lined the shelves, and everyone always looked so happy inside.
One super rainy day, on our way to the Picasso museum, we stopped in for a bite and some café con leche. Everything was great until we realized we had been waiting over an hour for our food. After a month in Barcelona, we got used to the waiters who didn’t rush you and the slower method of dining but this was a bit much. And the bare bulbs and books only held our interest for so long…
The café came with these wonderful little biscuits. I was into that.
All in all, a great place to grab some café con leche and catch up on your reading!

Escogimos el LiliPep para reunirnos con los chicos del Taller de escritura porque es un lugar tranquilo, súper agradable y con un montón de libros de segunda mano que puedes comprar por muy poquito:)
Además están sus silloncitos de corte retro, flores frescas silvestres en cada mesa, el té servido en unas encantadoras teteras desconchadas de hojalata roja y unos pasteles caseros para chuparse los dedos. El jazz a un volumen perfecto que suena de fondo y lo amable que es su dueño lo han convertido en uno de mis imprescindibles para inaugurar el finde.

Leer y llenarme la panza de dulces, dos de las cosas que más me gustan en la vida, juntas y en un mismo lugar aquí en LiliPep. Difícil no enamorarse de sus paredes llenas de libros, sus sillones, el olor a pastel recién hecho que generalmente se puede sentir apenas entras y de las fotografías u obras de artistas independientes que suelen haber expuestas en sus paredes.
Ideal para pasar un domingo y descansar, cuando quieres salir en plan tranquilo y ponerle un punto final que valga la pena a la semana, recargando baterías con uno de sus dulces o ricos cafés.
Es algo pequeño, así que puede ocurrir que al llegar no consigamos mesas para sentarnos.

Deliciosas tartas, tés y zumos, en una cafetería de cuento de un callejón del Born, allí esperas que entre en el local el mismísimo Willy Wonka con toda naturalidad… Un lugar muy especial para tomar dulce, té o café con una amiga a la que hacer confidencias, o sola leyendo el periódico. Muy recomendable para la salud.
