Oh the horror. I’ve never in my life experienced anything so disgusting. As the others, we were lured in by the lovely view and location right on La Rambla. The gentleman seemed polite so we sat down. My friend and I decided to split the deal for $ 11.95 which comes with two tapas and paella. First tapa– some kind of «salad» with mayo and potatoes and hotdogs? Really? The other one was some sort of meat dish. It looked really good and then it entered my mouth. It tasted like the cow was killed in its last hours of life. Paella was mediocre. You’d think that in Spain paella would be the easiest thing to make well; not in this case. They charged us for bread they presented on the table. The taxes weren’t included which in Spain they usually are. If you see this place and have happened to see the reviews you’ll be lucky to run far, far away. Please do not eat here.

This is probably the worst dining experience I had in Spain. They are located in a long row of café’s located on La Ramblas and they all blend into one another. The catch you with their signs of cheap deals and seats right on the main strip. Pro: Location, views, company Con: Quality of food, bait and switch on the prices. We tried to order a glass of wine, but were told they could not do that so he gave us each a small(2 serving bottle). This cost us an exurbanite amount of money. If you go here, stick to the specials and menu prices and don’t expect good food. Just pay for the view.

terrible place, super expensive($ 20 for two 500ml sangria)… good for people watching, and that’s about it.

Holy bad choice. This is a black hole of bad service and meh food that my clumsy sister can cook drunk, for the price of a horse. Do do yourself a favor and go across at Burger King and have some water from the bathroom tap, you will still feel more satisfied with your life choices.

This place is horrible. I think the paella was under a warming light for 3 – 4 hours. The chicken was inedible. The prawns were so dry that I couldn’t get them out of their shell. The service was bad and the prices were unbelievably high, more than twice what we had paid the night before for MUCH superior food/service/surroundings. REALLY, give this place a pass.

Ok here goes my first two star rating. Two stars because it was not intentionally bad or offensively bad. It just couldn’t make it to mediocre. It was our first day here in Barcelona and we wanted to keep it light but ended up meandering for hours and hours on our feet. Exhausted, hungry and late we opted for some restaurant in la ramblas. Conveniently located in the main streets, everything was in English and everything was on the more expensive side;the place was a tourist trap. The paella was bad and not authentic. The grilled vegetables were ok. The tapas looked unfresh and dried up. The service wasn’t anything special and the prices were really high for two dishes. The place was kinda charming but was not too great. Our mistake.

Wandering thru La Ramblas looking for authentic Spanish food ? Do not stop here, keep going. You may be tired, your feet may hurt, you may think«well it beats fast food». You’d be wrong. Barely edible apps. A very offensive paella, don’t get lazy, keep going, you’ll thank me later.

Tourist Trap SCAMMERS! On our first day in Barcelona we were exploring the Gothic Quarter and La Rambla and needed some lunch. Every other building seemed like a restaurant with some kind of a 12 – 15 Euro Paella special on a chalkboard out front. Mikel Etxea looked charming with a lot of carved wood so we went in. We’re superficial like that ;-) We both went with their chalkboard 12.95 Euro Paella + 2 tapas + sangria special. They have a few dozen tapas you can choose from. Anyway, the food was so-so. The paella was dry, both the rice and toppings. Tapas( ) were OK. Standard stuff. Nothing earth-shattering. Then our bill came. 62 Euros!!! There was charges for bread and our drinks. Huh? What happened to 26 Euros(2×13 Euro special) + VAT including the sangria? Some nonsense about the deal being for eating outside on the terrace. Why didn’t they mention this when we asked for the special from the outside board? And when asked«Would you like some bread?» how about mentioning it’s going to be 6 Euros? Got tired of arguing, paid the tab and left. Funny thing is I just found an online review(see review from HF12 ) where they had the same thing happen, but they ate outside and were told the deal was only if you ate inside. They got dinged for 90 Euros so I guess we should feel lucky?
