Sagarra

Peaceful, delicious food, satisfied belly. The pasta pallea was very tasty. Aldente pasta, tasty prawns and clams. The eggplant salad was also good, I’m not a fan of cold eggplant and I ate the whole dish! I tried the sasuage dish, and chicken with onion and mushroom dish. The chicken dish was delicious! Tender moist chicken smothered in onion, potatoes and coriander seeds… ugh so good, practically licked my plate! Eat here. Reasonable peices, great staff, good food. Muchas Gracias!

5 of us Californians traveled to Spain. On day 5, exhausted after non-​stop walking and minimal sleep, we stumbled to Sagarra on a recommendation by a good friend of mine. We were craving paella. To our disappointment, the menu on the window only offered tapas. We started to walk away dejectedly when suddenly the only Spanish-​speaking person in our group turned around and went inside. After about a minute, he popped out of the door yelling, «They’ll make paella for us!»
It. Was. The. Best. Paella. Ever! Flavor — BOOM! Creamy but not greasy. Every scoop had a ton of seafood — squid, baby octopus, mussels, clams, shrimp, and enormous prawns. The male server, who spoke good English, was super-​friendly and guaranteed that our order would feed 5 starving people. It did. Easily. He also recommended a great wine (12 Linajes). The other server on the floor, a female, was also very helpful when two of us had to find an ATM. She didn’t speak much English, so she walked us outside to the street and pointed us in the right direction.
We didn’t get preferential treatment. It’s just that, for some reason, paella is not listed on the menu. Our server told us that theirs is the best in town. He was not kidding!
The restaurant is easy to find. It’s on the corner of a fairly busy street. It’s clean and spacious. Even though it was busy, it was easy to find a table.
It was a far and painful trek from our rental apartment, but it was so worth it! Go to Sagarra!

Fue en abril cuando estuve en Sagarra por primera vez. Andábamos buscando un sitio donde comer una buena paella y esperábamos no acabar comiendo «arroz con cosas» por ser de fuera.
Después de ojear un poco por la zona y esquivar a los numerosos RRPP ofreciéndonos «extrańas ofertas para guiris» decidimos probar suerte y sentarnos en la terraza se Sagarra. Tanto en abril como anoche, aunque era entre semana, la terraza estaba completamente llena.
Tanto el trato recibido como la comida son excelentes. Por un precio de 30 €/​persona puedes disfrutar de una ración de «pan tomaca», patatas bravas y una paella de marisco muy muy buena, de verdad. Todo esto acompañado de un vino o una sangría y terminando con una crema catalana auténtica.
Recomiendo este sitio a todo aquel que venga a Barcelona y no quiera ser tratado como un turista al que no volverán.

Sagarra has a lovely outdoor seating area on a lively street. When we were here in the early evening, a lot of street performers passed through, including an accordion player and a team of men wearing Brazilian colors who did back flips and other gymnastics.
We ordered jamon, Manchego, tomato bread, and lettuce hearts with anchovies. Everything was pretty good, although nothing we ordered required a lot of kitchen work, so I can’t speak for the rest of the menu. The food came out to about 26EUR total.
One thing that I found shady was that the server encouraged the two of us to order an entire liter of sangria, claiming it was only 11 –13EUR. There was no drink menu, so we couldn’t verify the prices. When we got our check, it was actually 18EUR.

Nette Tapasbar etwas abseits der Hauptverkehrsstraße Las Ramblas. Schnelle, freundliche Bedienung. Abwechslungsreiche Tapas, lecker zubereitet. Preislich absolut OK.

3.5…I have to say the appetizer was impressive. I have never had so much foie gras on one plate! It was very delicious as well. The guy loved his steamed clam appetizer.
The guy’s main was very fine… veal chop… just right. Unfortunately, my cod main was too salty too eat.

Kein schickimicki Lokal. Alles etwas zusammengewürfelt mit ungewöhnlicher Farbgestaltung und netter Bar. Leicht morbid schöner Charme. Ob dies nun ein typich katalanisch/​spanisches Lokal ist, blieb uns verschlossen. Was aber auch nicht weiter schlimm ist. Die von uns ausgesuchten Menüfolge war durchaus lecker. Es gab erfreulicherweise Gerichte, die wir nicht kannten. ZieckleinCaree aber auch gut zusammengestellte Fischgerichte. Der empfohlene (Haus)Wein gut. Das Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Wie hatten einen enstpannten schönen Abend dort verbracht.
Immer wieder gerne :-) Achso ja, für ein 3 Gang a la Carte menue mit nicht wenig Wein zahlten wir 62,00 EUR kleine EURurochen. Gutes Preis-​/​Leistungsverhältnis.

I am torn.
Half of me wants to give Sagarra 3 stars because I think that in normal circumstances they serve 3 – 3.5 star food and service/​ambiance. In particular, their spinach croquettes are outstanding, like rich creamed spinach enveloped in the lightest of breading and fried to perfection. Outside seating in a little plaza off La Rambla also makes for pleasant people-​watching.
The other half of me is appalled by the quality of service and other food served that I want to stick em the middle finger and slap them with the abhorred 1-​star rating. The calamares d’andalucia (American version of calamari) were overly dried excuses for squid. The calarames a la Romans were much more tender but the batter was thick, oily, and soggy. Both were bland in taste. The pan was clearly rubbed with tomato much earlier and was consequently inedible. Manchego cheese and Mediterranean salad were fine in a ‘it’s hard to f– up slicing crap and serving as is’ kind of way.
Service was abysmal. We complained about the bread and our waiter promised to check the kitchen for better bread, after which he proceeded to ignore us and in fact avoid our entire side of the patio despite my forcing eye contact with him numerous times. Finally, we flagged him down and he pretended as if nothing had happened. No, no better bread in the kitchen? Thanks for telling us 30 minutes later as we waited and our food became completely inedible. He promised to take the bread off the check, which of course, he didn’t.
What a waste of time, money, and a meal!

Estuve comiendo aquí un día de verano, por lo que nos decantamos por una mesa en la terraza, donde había buena temperatura y no daba el sol. El sitio es muy bonito, relajado aunque este cerca de la Rambla. La comida estaba deliciosa. Pedimos un menú del día, los precios no son baratos, pero se come muy bien. Tenían muchas ensaladas y pastas, y mi acompañante disfruto de una buena carne a la brasa. Es muy recomendable si quieres disfrutar de una buena comida y un ambiente tranquilo.

Lo conozco hace años. Está igual que siempre, parece que le contara a mi madre sobre mi primo, al que no veo hace siglos. Este restaurante clásico, se mantiene intacto con el paso del tiempo y del constante cambio de modas y locales en el barrio. Sin duda, que sabe resistir. Su salón es muy agradable y cómodo para cenar. Aquí se puede comer y a buen precio, un menú de comida vasca-​catalana. Su carta ofrece varios platos creativos (ensaladas, pastas y verduras) con estilo creados por su chef, Alex Sagarra. La carne ocupa un lugar principal en sus brasas, al igual que el bacallà a la brasa. Los precios medios de la carta: 25 euros. Si después de comer, en su salón interior, te apetece hacer el café, sólo tienes que salir y disfrutar de su terraza.

A pocos metros de Las Ramblas, el restaurante Sagarra es un oasis para los locales. Por suerte, parece que a muchos de nuestros visitantes les cuesta salir de las rutas habituales y nos dejan sentir como en casa en pleno centro de la ciudad, cada vez más invadido de turistas. En el Sagarra se come cocina de mercado de calidad a un precio razonable. El menú del mediodía es más que correcto y se puede elegir entre tres primeros, tres segundos y tres postres. Tanto la decoración del local, moderna, pero sobria, como la amable atención de los camareros, contribuyen a hacer el lugar tranquilo y agradable para conversar con amigos o para comidas de negocios. También es muy recomendable para organizar cenas de grupo: sin ser demasiado grande, tiene espacio suficiente para alargar las mesas y, si sois bastantes, os parecerá que tenéis el restaurante para vosotros solos. En la terraza hay unas cuantas mesas y, como no le da el sol de mediodía, es una buena opción para el verano: se puede comer al aire libre sin sufrir el calor sofocante de Julio y Agosto.
