Went to this place with my boyfriend one night to watch a darts match. Atmosphere was lacking with some weird music playlist and very few patrons, most of whom were very drunk and loudly rambling. But fair nuff — we were there with a purpose. When we sat down at our table, the curt bartender gave us food menus but said she didn’t have a drink menu. That should’ve thrown up a red flag, but we were more tuned into the darts on TV. Yeah, so when my boyfriend asked for«a beer,» she chose to serve him Fosters. He noticed, but didn’t assume that she would have selected an expensive beer when there were cheaper ones. Maybe that was just what they had on tap, he presumed. We also ordered nachos, which were very mediocre and not worth the price. But at least we knew the price(12.50 €) Three beers later, I went to pay the tab only to discover that in fact the beers my boyfriend had consumed cost 5 €. Each. So his three beers while watching darts came to 15 €. Wait staff who hide their prices and choose expensive products for you — how very lovely! Or was it just the«tourist treatment»? I’d foolishly expected some sort of an ally in this bar where we could speak English. Wrong-o! Or maybe they only offer 5 € beer. Anyway, I won’t be back to find out.

Ask me how I ended up at an Irish pub in Barcelona?! I blame the bf! Everytime we walked by this place on our way to the metro stop, I had to constantly hear from the bf: «can I get a Guiness? Can I get a Guiness? Oh, maybe their bangers and mash is good too? Can I get a Guiness?» FINE! let’s go get you a Guiness… Well, what a nice surprise! We got served by a British gal with a nice demeanor and she poured a pint of Guiness with no head! Niiice!(why should you pay € 5 for foam anyway?!?) We shared a plate of bangers and mash since we weren’t super hungry. The bangers were so juicy and flavorful. I loved that the onion gravy came in its own container so you can put as much(or little) gravy as you want. Prices are reasonable considering this is the only Irish pub within walking distance from our hotel, heck, probably in the whole Barceloneta neighborhood where we stayed in. I gotta say, the bf was right on this one! but shhhh, don’t tell him that.

Normally would not go to an ” Irish ” bar anywhere on the Continent but they had Estrella Galicia at EUR1.90 advertised outside. Bit loud, mixed clientele, seems popular with the ex-pat community, worth a visit.
