This review is actually for Dec 2014. Over time, Applebees as a whole continues to offer average food at slightly above average prices. In recent years they have changed their menu and those changes were not always for the better – I miss some of the old stuff. However I do like their lunch option where you can choose halves of this and that(so to speak – the usual sandwich, soup, salad type stuff) at a reasonable price, especially for the Montrose area which can more expensive and packed with people all the time. I don’t ever have trouble getting a seat, even when their parking lot looks busy. I tend to go there because of that alone – Montrose can be a pain in the *ss to get around during certain times. Last night I went alone after a terrible night at work because I needed some down time(and a drink) before I went home. I was greeted at the door by a friendly male who told me I would get great service at the bar when I told him I was alone. I opted for the bar because there was no one there and assumed I would get quick service(I did – bartender was a nice gal and didn’t pester me too much or not enough). Food was, as expected, average. Drink was just what I needed. The worst part of this visit was the bathroom. As I entered I saw that there were shreds of paper towel all over the floor and one of the towel dispensers(or was it a dryer?) was out of order. I was about to enter the first stall when a lady exited the 2nd stall. I looked in the stall and saw that some disgusting and lazy woman had managed to sprinkle what appeared to be her menstrual blood all over the seat – and left it there. I exclaimed how disgusting that was and the lady said, «Well, there’s no toilet paper in this one.» She washed her hands and left. I overheard her tell someone that the bathroom needed serviced as she exited. I grabbed some toilet paper from the 1st stall and used the 2nd one. I was still in the stall when I heard a male knock to see if he could service the bathroom. His response was very quick, but the bathroom should never have been that way ever. The restaurant wasn’t even halfway full. Despite an average visit, I would think twice about using their bathroom again. Very gross.
Visited today with a friend and was not pleased with my experience. The manager walked us to our table and our waiter, Andrew, quickly came to get our drink order. After asking him questions about the menu, he rushed us into ordering. We asked for more time which he seemed very annoyed with. We decided on the 2 for $ 20 starting with spinach and artichoke dip. When he walked away, he went to talk to a manager and we called him back only seconds later to see if he already put in the order as we decided against the 2 for $ 20. He said yes, gave us an annoyed shrug, head & eye roll. We decided to stay with the $ 2 for 20. Our spinach and artichoke dip came out and the few chips that were on the plate were stale. I decided on ordering one of their special Halloween drinks from the bar and when I gave Andrew my drivers license, he asked for 2 forms of ID which I thought was odd. I got my drink and it was awful. I took one sip and left it to sit. He noticed this and did not bother to ask how it was or if I liked it. I’m a waitress and I know to look for this from customers, because it’s obviously a sign they don’t like it and in that case I would offer them something else. This never happened. Our meals came out, they were okay. He never asked how they were. Never asked if we needed anything else. The manager also had walked by and noticed some of our untouched food pushed aside and didn’t bother to ask about our meals. As we were sitting there talking and still eating what parts of our meal we did enjoy, he brought us out boxes and asked how we would like the check. We felt as if he was pushing us out the door from the second we sat down.

Great specials for happy hour. One of the better franchise locations I’ve visited under this proprietor.

Great service from server«Cameron». Brought napkins without asking. Hostesses were very welcoming. Clean and comfortable. Refreshing after a long job and traveling from Illinois.

We stopped in on a very snowy, Thursday afternoon and were pleasantly greeted at the door and seated right away! Our waitress was extremely helpful and very nice. She always had our drinks topped off and my boys never lacked in attention. Our food came out hot and to order. Everything was perfect in flavor and size. The bathrooms were clean and the whole place was neat. I can’t complain about anything. We got to-go boxes when we asked and the check was soon to follow. No waiting, which is a plus for me! I have no problem coming back here!

Unfortunately the three stars reflect the poor waitstaff service. While the hostess was very pleasant, our waitress seemed annoyed or preoccupied most of the time. Food was rather tasty, though. We each got something off the new Honey Pepper Grill menu and were pleased with our meals. Not sure we’ll come back to THIS location, but don’t judge the franchise just on this location.

I should have learned my lesson the last time I went to an Applebee’s in Ohio, but I did not, and while traveling on business made the awful mistake of going to this restaurant. I don’t have a problem dining alone, sometimes you have to, especially when on business travel, but nothing irritates me more than when a restaurant seems to have a problem with it. When I entered they asked how many, and I said just one… the greeter asked me if a seat at the bar was okay. I said I would prefer a booth, as I don’t like to dine in the bar area(mostly for comfort). So after a bit of a huff, I was sat in a small booth in the back corner of the restaurant. And there I sat, for a solid 10 minutes with not so much as a greeting or an offer for a glass of water. I finally decided to leave. Upon exiting, I told the hostess how disappointed I was that I never saw a server(I had my meal all picked out)… her response was«Thanks for coming by». Really… that’s your best answer! Never again Applebee’s… The TGI Friday’s down the street provided some of the best service I have ever received!(Review to come!)
